why their a reason to put a wet floor sign mop beside me when I am eating breakfast ? I asked the server to remove wet floor sign beside the table and refused as being in the winter time -boots from outside snow -however I...am the only one singled outMore
The $9.60 Apple caramel cheesecake dessert was nothing special except for the price and the fact that it was cold and was a very small sliver piece of cake - server response 'I don't set the prices'
I'm sorry to report there was absolutely no single positive thing to say about my experience. We went out on a Friday night. Thinking back, this was a mistake. The place was busy. When we sat down, we warned food might take 30 minutes. We...took a chance. We ordered appetizers and mains. The appetizers came back 30 minutes later. They were underwhelming. Finally, more than one hour after we ordered we finally got the main course, chicken brochettes for myself and ribs and chicken for my partner. The chicken was nearly inedible, it was dry and tasteless, even with the tzatziki sauce. My partner's plate wasn't better. It cost us 130$ for sub-par food after more than an hour's wait, where we had to watch crappy football and wrestling. Is this the reality of post-pandemic dining?More
The server that seemed to be the only one there didnt seem to care about serving me . I went monday september 26th at 4pm and she just asked me if i wanted to drink ,she didnt ask me if i wanted something to eat,...she never checked up , i left many queues that i wanted to order food and she just kept walking by . The guy beside me ordered food she never brought him utensils , he had to get them himself . Very poor service and serverMore
victoria day weekend I am by myself and have to wait 1 hour table plus I am a regular customer does this restaurant always treat people this way
Well we arrived at 5:50 and were immediately seated. By 6:20 we had not had any contact with an employee, no drinks, no “we’ll be with you in a minute, NOTHING. I walked over to the hostess and asked her if someone had forgotten us....I also mentioned that we had to be out of the restaurant by 7:45 as we had somewhere else to go. She said she saw no reason why we couldn’t be out by 7:45 and she came and took our orders immediately. Our drinks came fairly quickly. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. By 7:15 I was getting a bit nervous so I went to see the hostess again. I told her it might be best if we pay for our drinks and hit up a fast food joint as at that point we had 30mins left. She agreed and we went and got our jackets. But then she came back out and said there was only 4 minutes left on our order. So we took off our jackets and sat back down. Honestly at this point we were very hungry and just wanted to eat and get out of there. So we waited, and waited. 4 minutes turned into 15mins. By 7:30 we still hadn’t received our food. We only had 15 mins left at this point so we made the call to leave. I explained to the hostess that we were out of time and she apologized and got us the drink bill. She did offer to have the food bagged for us once ready but eating ribs and nachos with my family of 5 in my 5 seater while driving across town really wasn’t an option for us. Plus honestly I was done waiting. So I paid the bill (no discount for our troubles) and we left. My husband’s birthday and our first time out as a family in over a year. Was stuck with 3 crabby teenagers at an escape room as everyone was hungry. Too bad cause back in the day we used to love going to the local heroes on St-Laurent but I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. I do want to mention I understand there is a shortage of workers right now. That’s why I asked and mentioned that we had to be out by a certain time. I also want to point out the hostess/waitress was extremely polite, apologetic and she was working extremely hard. At the end of the day we were there 1 hour and 50 minutes and didn’t eat one thing. If you are that short staffed please limit your capacity.More
For the 3rd time I order potato skins and for the 3rd time they were burnt..as a cook its insulting that the cooks in this establishment dont give a crap about the food they put our...3 strikes you are out and everyone I know will...agree and not go here for good foodMore
food and staff were good but the pop should have been free refills , no excuse to do that when you get free coffee refills at breakfast. The pop is only a couple cents per glass
This is the first time I have ordered online for delivery using Skip the Dishes. Lunch was a steak, perfectly grilled and tender with a side baked potato and Ceasar salad with a good portion of croutons and bacon bits. Will definitely be ordering again...from their extensive menu choices.More
Had the pleasure of having breakfast at Local Heroes today and it was superb. Not to much to say about breakfast, very well priced, and good food. Server Kate was what really made the difference with her friendly, attentive and efficient service. Her “take your...time, no rush”approach was very much appreciated. Will certainly return.More
I was impressed. The food exceeded my expectations. We had the calamari and pizza and it was so definitely better than your average pub food. Service was great, will definitely go back again.
This is literally my local restaurant--I can walk there in 5 minutes or less. (FYI, they are also open for takeout and Doordash during the pandemic). But that doesn't mean I'd keep going back there if I didn't love it. But I do love it......and I'll tell you why. Staff: One of the many thing that stands out to me about this place is the relative lack of turnover in the front-of-house staff. You always see (mostly) the same set of faces in the hosts, bussers and servers. That says something positive about the management, I think. In terms of service, we've always had great experiences with the hosts and hostesses, even if the place was totally full, as it sometimes is (another good sign), they always do what they can to make you aware that they're working to get you a spot. The serving staff are really first rate. Experienced, knowledgable about their menu and their kitchen, efficient and always upfront with you if they are full and know the kitchen is bogged down and you're going to have to wait longer. I can't say enough good things about the servers. Food: Their breakfasts are solid, standard fare, with well cooked, hot food across the board, and particularly tasty homefries. The coffee is good too. For lunch & dinner, they have a pretty extensive menu. Like any restaurant and anyone's particular palate, there have been hits and misses for me as I've worked my way through such a big list. But the food quality is always good. I'm a particular fan of the Dirty Bird Bowl, always love their wings and, a fairly recent discovery for me is that their pizza is fantastic, thick or think crust. Atmosphere: For breakfast, it's just a good, buzzing vibe that I find very comforting. For later times of the day, when sporting events are on, it's a great place to watch a game -- or many of them at once. They have lots and lots of TVs and are really good about tuning at least one of them to whatever you want to watch, even if you're a filthy Leafs fan like me. Although I wholeheartedly endorse this restaurant/bar, there are two things I can think of to make the experience even better: 1) Inside the restaurant: Give in to the trendy hipsters a little and make one or two fuller-bodied beers available on tap; and, most importantly, 2) Outside the building: Come up with a plan to stop patrons from smoking right outside the front door. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g155004-d5769200-r753364529-Local_Heroes_Bar_Grill-Ottawa_Ontario.html#More
A great place where you can gather with friends or enjoy excellent food at all hours.Appetizers are excellent along with pizza and the main dishes. Breakfasts will never leave you going home hungry. Dean and the entire crew out front and inside the kitchen are...just good people.More
