Great friendly atmosphere. Our server was so nice and helpful, and very efficient. And the food and drinks were top notch. A little more expensive than we are used to but it was a nice treat for ourselves and definitely worth it. Thank you to...all staff!More

Absinthe used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I have been quite disappointed the few times I went it since Covid started. The worst experience was the fondue night. It was not worth the price. The cheese fondue tasted like the cheese was coming...from sold very old packaging, and the bread too. The meat fondue smelled very oily, to the point where my clothes smelled bad even after I left the restaurant. The chocolate fondue came with very little fruit, and they wouldn’t do anything about it when I made a comment about it, except to say that there is more chocolate! Not what it used to be, and much more expensive, so no more for me.More

Had the pleasure (again) of dinner at Absinthe. Knowledgeable and friendly staff coupled with good food it isn't cheap but you do get what you pay for

Had lunch at Absinthe November 8, 2022 We were a group of seven seniors and we asked to be seated as far away as possible from other tables, partly so we could carry on a conversation, and partly to keep distance, which was done. As...always, food was excellent. Have not had a bad meal here ever. I had the three course luncheon option. First course was an appropriately sized luncheon portion of velouté squash soup with Major grey Chutney which was wonderful, so smooth and tasty. Second course was the Salmon Tartine with salad – also excellent. And dessert was a small (thank heavens) crème brulee, perfectly prepared. Service was good.More

We went for lunch this week and were so impressed with both the food and the service. Even the chairs were unusually comfortable. The squash soup was excellent and the desserts were really fantastic - especially a chocolate mousse with a touch of salted caramel.

My husband and I dined at Absinthe last night. The food was outstanding. We both had the beef stroganoff which was incredibly flavorful. Laurie was helpful and fun. The atmosphere was cool and inviting. It was the highlight of our visit to Ottawa. Well done!

We went for my wife's birthday and enjoyed the food, ambience, and appreciated the staff being so helpful in choosing a wine. The appetizer was split between the two of us as we did not want to fill up before the main event. The two...of us were very happy with the tasty and well present main courses - so much so that we traded plates half way through. It was very much appreciated to have the tables separated. This is not an inexpensive eatery but we feel it was worth every dollar.More

The menu offered good choices, the service was efficient, the cuisine was tasty and was well presented - in a relatively quiet ambiance for a fun family get-together. Notwithstanding a poor beer selection, the four of us had a good customer experience and would happily...return on another such occasion.More

The food is brilliantly assembled for taste and portion. The chef is creative and well matches flavours. The service was very friendly and attentive. This is a great little restaurant, perfect for a pre-theatre meal. We loved our experience there.

Our experience at Absinthe was wonderful. From the moment we arrived until we left, we were welcomed and treated so well. We had the four course prix fixe dinner, and it was amazing. The fish cakes in the sea food appetizer were fragrant and subtly...flavoured. The salad was fresh and was not smothered in dressing but you still got all the seasonings and taste you wanted. And the beef Wellington was so tender, perfectly seasoned. Everything was above and beyond what we were expecting and we will be back! Thank you!More

Very well prepared and delicious French bistro style food. The restaurant is comfortable and unpretentious. The service was very attentive but not overbearing. Great value forth money considering the very high quality of the food and service.

We booked a reservation at Absinthe based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and we were not disappointed. We both had the Steak Frites and the steaks were cooked perfectly. Other highlights were the mushroom soup and crème brûlée. Laurie was delightful and offered a great...wine suggestion. Service overall was fantastic.More

This place a trusted place that usually never disappoints. I had not been in a while but I find I can always depend on Absinthe when I do a lay minute booking or run out of ideas of places to go. The food is consistent...and good overall. The Table d’hôte is also a great option. Overall the service is also consistent and friendly.More
