I grew up in Ottawa and have heard of Oh So Good on many occasions. I reached out to my friends about where to find the best Black Forest Cake in Ottawa for my twin's 10th birthday, and some mentioned I should try Oh So...Good in the Byward Market. After reading about their "award-winning cakes" online, I decided to give them a go, especially after seeing their delivery option.
I saw on a Thursday when I ordered online that they had the cake in stock; I was given the option to specify my preferred delivery date and time (I requested the night before the party, 24 hours after my order, or the date of the party, which was 48 hours after I purchased), and once I paid, I received an email that my order was being processed and later that night, that my order was out for delivery.
Saturday rolled around, and I rechecked the order status at lunch since it did not arrive, and it said the cake was delivered. I was confused, so I called only to be told curtly that cake orders take two to four days to process, that it was written on the website and that the delivery status updates I received meant nothing. I checked, and my mistake; it did say that in a small script above the box where you can specify the preferred delivery date. I was asked if I would like to cancel, and I said yes, and they quickly told me to reach out online to cancel before hanging up on me.
I reached out online and explained my mistake, and they told me that they couldn't cancel online and that I would have to contact the store. I called the store again and asked to speak with the manager and was told he was unavailable, so I said I would call back. I didn't end up calling on Sunday, so when I called on Monday, despite once again not being able to speak with a manager, I said that I would either take the refund or, if the cake were already being made, I would still take the cake to be delivered in another 72 hours on my twins' actual birthday. They said they could still have one made and confirmed the delivery day and time with me.
When the cake arrived, it was frozen and portioned into individual slices. It also had no cherries of any kind, not real cherries or the cherry jelly you find on less expensive cakes. It was basically just chocolate cake and whipped cream. I was so shocked over the lack of quality and also because I couldn't understand why the cake couldn't be delivered in time for the party if it was frozen anyway?!
I tried to call the manager the next day and was told he was busy. I tried calling again and was told he would call me back, and he never did. I tried calling a third time, and he wasn't available.
Please SAVE YOUR MONEY and NEVER ORDER FROM THIS OH SO GOOD!
