Aroma Maze never disappoints. We love the ambiance, food and service. They always accommodate the plates to the number of people at the table. And prices have stayed reasonable compared to other similar restaurants in Ottawa. Fish tacos, octopus, lamb sliders etc were all wonderful.

Went here for a date night. It was perfect - excellent wine list, tapas were all delicious with great taste sensations AND beautifully presented. Server was just the right mix of attentive (and not!). Looking forward to our next visit!

We’ve been here many times, and love the fact that we can try several small dishes, instead of having a big dish with only one kind of food. We’ve tried several of their dishes, but the last few times, we mostly stuck to our favourites....This time we had eggplant roulade, gorgonzola gnocchi, octapodaki (char-grilled octopus with roasted red pepper salsa), tuna tataki, spanakomizithra (a dip of Mizithra cheese, spinach, and roasted red peppers), kotopulo avgolemono (herbed chicken meatball with avgolemono sauce) and formaggio pesto. Everything was delicious, but the chicken meatballs were among our favourite. I don’t normally care much for octopus, but here, it’s one of my favourite dishes - so incredibly tender and tasty, it melts in your mouth. For dessert, we had a chocolate natillas (chilled dark chocolate coconut custard, topped with salted whipped cream and pink peppercorn), which tasted kind of like a chocolate mousse. We look forward to coming back again, and trying something new next time.More

Two of us ordered seven plates and each was totally delicious. Service is exceptionally friendly and efficient. Definitely a stop for your culinary trip through the wonders of Ottawa dining. Reasonable prices. Bring your own wine with $20 corkage.

It is our second time here, and it is still amazing! We came during the pandemic and enjoyed our evening outside in the temporary set-up outside. Our retunr under normal conditions was even better, had 6 plates and were delighted by each service. Definitely worth...the little detour!More

It was meant to be amazing but quite ordinary.....food acceptible but nothing extraordinary and disapointing . The hostess was doing her best and seemed on her own on a busy evening. The people beside us left and their table was not cleared and stayed that...way while we had a slow dinner. The wine was good and helped the evening. Greek flavors? No lemon or olive oil or fresh herbs to the taste and should serve pita bread with the dishes when it comes as the greeks do when we are at their restaurants in Greece. We will no go back to Aroma Meze.More

We picked 5 dishes: 1- moshavim ginger: beef tenderloin steak, came in last when we were full. The steaks were well done. 2-tuna, was perfectly cooked however was missing a splash of taste, maybe a pickle ginger. 3-the ouzo shrimps, was Impressed when flambé at...our table but was missing a little cooking. The eggplant roulade, was missing a little taste perhaps a little salt. The fish tacos, the homemade corn tortillas not very good at all. Overall the service was pretty good. Our waitress was very busy and running off her feet. All the dishes were nice to look at when received but all of them was missing taste. One more thing this restaurant is busy and very noisy. It is very hard to follow your own party conversations because it is so loud.More

Our first visit was just my wife and me. The tapas plates are made for two, and we enjoyed our meal so much we booked again for later in the week for a group of 4 with another couple. We hadn’t seen these friends in...6 years so had a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately, the waiter insisted that we had to all share each plate. So instead of visiting with each other, we all had to spend a half hour to pour over each menu item together to hash out which 6 tapas dishes we could agree on. And the bottle of white wine we ordered was only 500 ml for $29. This visit was a very unsatisfying experience and I can only recommend this restaurant for couples.More

We were 2 couples in our mid 30s who came here for a dinner date after reading the positive reviews. The waiter informed us that everything on the menu comes in a serving for 2 but can be scaled up for the number of people...in your party. He said that 6 apps should fill us. We were quite hungry and generally eat a lot, so we ordered 8 apps. I would say most of them were pretty good so you can't really go wrong with what you order, BUT there was incredibly long wait times in between each dish. We quickly finished each plate as it was a bite or two per item, but the next dish did not come for a long time. We knew we were coming to an app place so the portions would be smaller, but we expected them to come out all at once. This was not ideal for 4 hungry people lol. We probably were there for 2+ hours, and we left feeling unsatisfied. Together with the meh service and cramped interior, I would rate this 3.5 stars overall. My take away - the food was good, but don't come hungry and expecting to eat your fill! This spot is better geared for drinks and light snacking/apps while you chat.More

The food was good. The service was attentive and friendly. We sat in the front room up which could use a facelift, the back room looked nicer. Overall we enjoyed the concept of the small plates very much. Every dish was tasty and done well....We would have liked a change of plates and cutlery at least once! Had 6 different dishes and all were good. Would return.More

We were excited to try this restaurant with friends. But in the end, the experience had us confused about the hype around this restaurant. We were seated in the cramped front section of the restaurant, which was rundown and in desperate need of a refresh....When we sat down, my wife’s chair immediately gave out from underneath her. We thought that perhaps a chair leg broke. Turned out that her chair leg had fallen into a broken floor vent that was directly under our table. We brought up the issue to our server and asked if anything could be done. She replied (without sarcasm) “I guess the plastic wrap we put down isn’t doing the job.” So that explained the plastic wrap all over the place. She came back and said she raised the issue with her manager who would look into it. We never saw the manager and the issue was never brought up again. No apology at all. It was pretty obvious this vent was in this condition for some time. It wouldn’t take much to run to a hardware store and get something to actually fix it. They just don’t want to. Our table had a direct view of the bar area (if you can call it that), which was incredibly chaotic. I get that things get busy, but if your bar is essentially a built in cupboard in a hallway in the middle of a restaurant that half of the tables have a direct view of, maybe try to keep it a little tidy. Our cocktails, once we finally got them, were not very good. And old fashioned served in a water glass. A French 75 that was t mixed and tasted like straight gin and the bottom. (We joked that we could have better drinks around the corner at the Royal Oak…and, sadly, after dinner we did.) The washroom when we were there were appalling. It was beyond filthy. There was blood all over the washroom. One of our friends returned from the washroom speechless from the state of it. There is no justification for that. As for the food, it was okay. But it wasn’t good enough to make up for the downfalls of this place. For starters, the chef could learn how to season things properly. Everything was very bland. The zucchini cakes were oddly wet. Maybe we came on an off night. But the experience did not justify the massive prices this place charges (they don’t tell you that the prices advertised will double if you’re a table of 4). This place has plenty of great reviews, but our subpar experience left us with the impression that this restaurant has lost all of its care and passion.More

Warm and cozy atmosphere. Excellent service. Wonderful food and most importantly for me, the menu has so many gluten free options. One of the few restaurants I can eat just about anything and not be sick!

If you’re considering going here - do it! The food, service, everything - is incredible. And it is so reasonably priced. My dad and I had the best time. It’s a great place to go, to take your time and have amazing food and just...be so happy. We got 8 dishes, 3 drinks and we were very full and satisfied - with tax (before tip) was only $124! That felt like a great deal considering the quality of the food and we were there for over 2 hours eating the whole time. I would have paid more. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend the shrimp gnocchi, tenderloin and the beet tower but honestly everything was great.More

The restaurant is located in a small house which adds to the appeal. It was not really busy the evening I went there so it felt spacious. The wait staff was attentive but there were times where the wait between the courses were lengthy. Started...out with the tzaziki which was surprisingly absent of cucumber, which what I am accustomed to. The spinach phyllo was excellent and I wish I had ordered more. The shrimp gnocchi was excellent and probably my favorite of the evening. The tuna tataki being a close runner-up. The open face chicken and moshari ginger did not captivate me. Finished the evening with a creme brulee which was very good. Some of the dishes were overwhelmed with sauces and onions which masked the real flavors. Overall, the evening was good but there was potential that it could have been better.More
