Lots of tasty choices.

Menu: Lots of choices. You will need about 5 or 6 dishes. The portions are small — as expected — but could a be a touch larger or a touch cheaper. Regardless, all the dishes we had were very tasty — no complaints about quality of the food. Service: Was efficient and friendly but just a touch perfunctory. On other hand, you aren’t being interrupted or rushed. All in all, good solid service. Atmosphere: The restaurant has a cozy, romantic vibe. Temperature was a bit cold, but they did have space heaters (note: it was, however, minus 30 degrees outside!). Bathrooms were clean, but could use a revamp — just a suggestion. Overall, a very good restaurant with good food and good wine. Thanks for a nice evening. See you in the summer!

Slow down and enjoy….

Very good leisurely dining. We were here for our anniversary and weren’t really sure what to expect. The dishes are served tapas style (usually only 2 pieces per plate)…..but served ONLY 1 plate at a time. The dishes are definitely more Greek than Spanish - not a problem! We ordered 5 different items, and due to a seafood allergy….I watched my husband eat….while i just sat as they couldn’t/wouldn’t bring 2 items. The food came out at good temperature and was really very tasty. The only reason i didnt give 5 stars is because there wasnt any particular dish that was outstanding. We enjoyed dinner over 2 hours….but we also enjoyed 2 bottle of wine…. Would probably return.

We've been at Aroma Meze many times and every visit is a delight. This was the case again last night for my wife's birthday. I've brought friends and out of town colleagues, all of whom loved this place. The menu is creative, the food delicious and the service very attentive. Tip: get the Gorgonzola Gnocchi, the Pulled Lamb Tacos and the Moshari Ginger Beef.

I cannot agree with the reviews I found. The restaurant is nice, it seems to have been created inside a house and the staff is extremely kind. I'm sorry to give a poor rating but this refers to the biblical waiting times between one course and another but above all to the prices of the menu! Their philosophy is to serve a "double" portion for each dish chosen, therefore the unsuspecting traveler has to pay twice what he has chosen. The bill was expensive and the quality of the food was absolutely not up to par, even considering the very small portions! Absolutely!!

Having just tried Aroma Meze, I can tell you that all six dishes I tried were simply amazing. In addition to great food, Aroma has a really nice atmosphere. The only issue I had was with the service. Once our samples started arriving, it was at a good pace, so basically about 5 or 10 minutes after we had finished a plate, which is good given they are small like a normal tapas. However, after our third portion, there was a gap of about 35-40 until our next serving. This was way too long and left us feeling forgotten about. That said, my girlfriend, who has been to Aroma several times, stated that this long wait between courses was unusual. Overall, it was a very tasty experience and I’m sure we’ll be back.

Great for couples only -not great for 4 people

Our first visit was just my wife and me. The tapas plates are made for two, and we enjoyed our meal so much we booked again for later in the week for a group of 4 with another couple. We hadn’t seen these friends in 6 years so had a lot of catching up to do. Unfortunately, the waiter insisted that we had to all share each plate. So instead of visiting with each other, we all had to spend a half hour to pour over each menu item together to hash out which 6 tapas dishes we could agree on. And the bottle of white wine we ordered was only 500 ml for $29. This visit was a very unsatisfying experience and I can only recommend this restaurant for couples.

Amazing Experience New Favourite

We booked this online based on reviews and we were NOT disappointed. The restaurant has a very nice comfortable casual atmosphere, the servers are super friendly, helpful and attentive, but the food…it was an amazing Greek feast! Each small dish was prepared with attention to detail and was off the charts for flavour and presentation. The wine list was plentiful and very reasonable. They recommend 3 dishes per person as a guideline. We may have gone a tad over but we are not dessert eaters, so we went for it!! Order a cocktail and some warm olives with feta and dive into picking your dishes… we chose grilled octopus (best since we left Greece!), ouzo shrimp, dolmades, chicken meatballs, lamb tacos, dates stuffed with Gorgonzola and topped with foie gras (our version of dessert)! Every dish was a home run. Try the Greek wines they are also great. Can’t wait to go back!

Delicious meal

This restaurant deserves all the positive reviews it has. It is a little hidden gem which I'm happy we had reserved at during our stay in Ottawa. The plates are tapas-style so you get to taste a lot of different plates throughout their extensive menu. Thank you to the restaurant for an excellent evening for my boyfriend's birthday :)

Wonderful dining experience!

I loved this restaurant! The food was very good (especially the octopus), the waiter very friendly and you can eat at a leisurely pace, not feel like you are being rushed. The ambience was great also. Highly recommend if you are looking to try a different type of dining style with small plates every 15 minutes or so.

A Hidden gem

We’ve been to this restaurant many times over the years and it’s still one of the best in Ottawa. If you are a foodie like us you will truly appreciate this fine cuisine. Don’t expect large plates as the focus is on quality and taste.

Amazing Place

If you’re considering going here - do it! The food, service, everything - is incredible. And it is so reasonably priced. My dad and I had the best time. It’s a great place to go, to take your time and have amazing food and just be so happy. We got 8 dishes, 3 drinks and we were very full and satisfied - with tax (before tip) was only $124! That felt like a great deal considering the quality of the food and we were there for over 2 hours eating the whole time. I would have paid more. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend the shrimp gnocchi, tenderloin and the beet tower but honestly everything was great.

Disappointing

We were 4 persons for dinner. We were happy to sit on the outdoor deck but right behind us were the garbage cans which when the breeze went by the smell was not pleasant. We ordered 5 plates which pretty much all with the same base, (except the salad) sautéed green and red pepper and some onion and some feta. Our shared Greek salad had one olive person person, kinda skimpy. The service was indifferent. No one ever came to see how we were enjoying our small plates, or if we wanted more wine or more food.

Very pleasant, room for improvement

The restaurant is located in a small house which adds to the appeal. It was not really busy the evening I went there so it felt spacious. The wait staff was attentive but there were times where the wait between the courses were lengthy. Started out with the tzaziki which was surprisingly absent of cucumber, which what I am accustomed to. The spinach phyllo was excellent and I wish I had ordered more. The shrimp gnocchi was excellent and probably my favorite of the evening. The tuna tataki being a close runner-up. The open face chicken and moshari ginger did not captivate me. Finished the evening with a creme brulee which was very good. Some of the dishes were overwhelmed with sauces and onions which masked the real flavors. Overall, the evening was good but there was potential that it could have been better.

It was meant to be amazing but quite ordinary.....food acceptible but nothing extraordinary and disapointing . The hostess was doing her best and seemed on her own on a busy evening. The people beside us left and their table was not cleared and stayed that way while we had a slow dinner. The wine was good and helped the evening. Greek flavors? No lemon or olive oil or fresh herbs to the taste and should serve pita bread with the dishes when it comes as the greeks do when we are at their restaurants in Greece. We will no go back to Aroma Meze.
