I am not sure how basic recipes can be mangled in the manner that this restaurant managed to do. Not one dish was even to the point of satisfactory. The nachos were lacking in toppings, the fish and chips were overcooked, and the steak was...not seasoned well. All items were barely at room temperature. The waitress made an effort to make the best of a subpar meal experience with a pleasant demeanour. However, with so many other similar establishments close by, walk an extra few minutes to avoid this establishment.More

The four of us met at 5:30 and the place was empty. The server came from the kitchen and asked us if we wanted drinks but he did so with blue latex gloves. So strange. We ordered drinks and food ... I had the salmon...- it was ok. Not many dairy free options on the menu so I had to ask for the sauce to be removed ... what was left was flavourless. As the evening progressed more people arrived... a big group that made a ton of noise with cheering and laughing and loud clapping. Then as if we couldn’t hear each other enough, the DJ arrived with some serious beats. I have no voice left. If you are looking for a peaceful quiet romantic evening, this is not the place for you. I screamed for a few hours and I feel exhausted. I would expect the decor to be more like a speakeasy ... a sexy place with booths and dim lighting ... a bit disappointed. I like loud music but not while I’m trying to eat and talk to my friends that I haven’t seen in months. We’ve made plans for our next meeting, not at the waverly.More

Its 1am and bar closes at 2am. We order drinks from a server after waiting for 20 mins. The server arrives and tells us they cannot make us a chocolate martini as they are too busy to make us a cocktail. Hey...um excuse me ...arent...you a bar?More

Popped in on our way back from the theatre for nibbles and drinks. We ordered the charcuterie plate and, at $21, we had high hopes. These hopes were dashed when a rather insulting dish landed in front of us. Grocery cold cuts and chunks of...grocery store cheese. The gouda was dry and the brie was COLD! Some sort of oily pickle condiment accompanied the unimpressive plate. They are obvious more focused on the party crowd than their food. After ordering our second round of drinks, the Shiraz was lovely, the music cranked up to unbearable volumes. "The party is starting", we were haughtily informed. We cancelled out drinks and scurried out. Not impressed. At all. I guess older folks should just stay at home.More

The waitress seated us then left for 10 mins. before she came back to take our order. The restaurant was not busy!! Very poor service & didn’t seem too concerned when we decided to leave. Will never go back & would never recommend.

Terrible service. Extended wait for drink, food etc. Food was disappointing; overpriced and small portions. Will never go back.

The atmosphere was enjoyable, but other then that, it was overall disappointing. The service was poor, and the food was mediocre. It may be more of a drinking place than an eating place, definitely do not get the mussels.

The Quality of Food is good - as Long as you like Pub style Food. In case you expect something more Elaborate then it is the wrong place to be.

Was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The ceasar salad had no green leaves at all...all yellow end parts were used. Veggie fettuccine had more liquid that noodles and veggies...cheap dish. We did mention it and showed liquid in plate to our server...who passed our comments but we never even saw the manager or owner come to our table to apologize. While our server was quite affable, we will definitely not return as quality of the food was poor.More

The service was great - both friendly and attentive. There was not a great deal of selection on the menu. Looked to be a good place for drinks and snacks. Less good for dinner.

Great location on Elgin St. There are lots of restaurants where one can eat in a Friday evening but it was a hot evening and we were looking for a nice patio. The hostess seated us immediately. Our server was friendly. The menu was very...basic, it seems like an upscale burger joint. I ordered the pulled pork tostadas which had nice flavor but there wasn't anything special, shredded cabbage and pulled pork with drizzled BBQ sauce. My husband ordered the Waverley Burger with fries. I tasted the fries, thick cut and not outstanding. We were remarking that a potato is such a simple food yet there must be an art to making a French fry because it can make or break your impressions of your meal. We had to ask for cutlery. My husband was still eating his meal when the waiter asked if we wanted dessert. When we said no he showed up with our bill even though I was just served my beer. It felt a bit weird and rushed. I would likely try it again.More

Beautiful wood bar. Excellent decor. I focused my attention on cocktails the evening I visited. The " alchemist" preparing them is a magician. What makes a good cocktail? After all, you just mix ingredients together...simple...no? There is a "je ne sais quoi" when there is...attention to detail and a bit of leftover voodoo magic from the old cajun restaurant that used to occupy these locales. Try the "smoking room" which contains real cherry wood smoke and the "vesper" - a martini with gin and vodka, lillet and the zest of lemon which is not a decorating element but an essential one to the aroma (through the scent) of the drink. I didn't sample much food but the mussels in a cream sauce were very good. I was shocked that a piece of bread to sweep the delicious sauce was going to cost me 3 dollars... really? Get your priorities right... had to ask twice for a glass of water after being told "of course"the first time. I am not forgiving for that forgetfulness when the place is really really not busy...so go enjoy the bar, decor and cocktails and perhaps go elsewhere to dine.More

We have eaten her before. The food was great. The beet salad was delicious. We shared the salad as a starter between three of us. The sweet potato fries were perfectly done. We had a variety of meals; all three of us enjoyed them. The...portions are not huge so we had room for Spanish coffees to finish.More
