On July 8, 2022, my sisters and I took our first trip to the island (we're in our 60s and 70s). On return to the ferry dock area we thought we'd grab something to eat before heading back to Leamington. We stopped at the snack...shop and there was a hand-written sign near the order window stating the operating hours were ___ to 4 pm and 7 to 8 pm. It was about 6:30 so I said 'I don't think they're open'. A young man near us replied 'yeah, they're open', knocked on the window (for us I assume) and walked away. The window opened and someone very assertively said, 'I'm serving someone else, I'll get to you in a moment'. We were surprised, chalked it up to misunderstanding, and read the menu. The only meal options we saw were hotdogs and sausages (and fries perhaps). We discussed having hotdogs but my sister had enough recently so we decided to look elsewhere. We started walking away and we're SHOCKED when the owner I take it came out and in an very rude and sarcastic tone said to us 'sorry I wasn't fast enough for you'. I replied, we weren't the ones who knocked. We were given an angry look, and she walked away. This tells us 2 things: the owner must need the money because she obviously doesn't care for tourists; and, the only reason she remains in business is that this snack shop is the only obvious place to get take-out food on the island. How dare you assume all tourists, including polite ones like us, are anywhere near as miserable as you are! Update: Owner replied WE were in the wrong - talk about arrogance. Same reply to all even slightly critical reviews. Try owning your errors. Again, you're the only place available so it's obvious you don't care.More
