Hubs and I hang out here every now and then when we want to feel like we don't have kids and jobs and all that horrible stuff. We drink enormous pretty coffees, and eat delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, and play a board game, chill to the great music, look at the art, occupy a couch. I love it here.

A small warm and friendly place. We got there, family of 5, on the road from here to there and it was truly the right place

Good atmosphere. Not a sit-down meal place but drinks/snacks are fab. The entertainment was great and the art on the wall is a mic local touch.

On a recent trip through the Niagara Region we stopped at the Mahtay Cafe for a coffee and tea. I was really surprised at how good the coffee and tea was here. The food was also excellent. They are also licensed and have all sorts of interesting events on in the evening and lots of great art by local artists... More

My girlfriend and I stopped in this cafe for a drink after passing by and seeing some ladies near the front enjoying some wine. They had a nice selection of beer and wine from local breweries and wineries. We had a pineapple beer from Oast, which was very pleasant. We met friendly staff who had no problem answering our questions... More

I walked into the cafe and felt welcome. It was a comfortable enviroment with many places to sit. I had an iced latte because it was a hot summer day. The milk was a little bit over frothed but it tasted good. The seats and couches are a bit run down but it fits in with the style of the... More

This is a good place for lunch, but seems to have changed recently. The sandwich I had there yesterday was not on good bread, as usually happens, but on a white bun, rather like a hot dog bun from the grocery store. I had expected better. They also initially charged me incorrectly.

Mahtay is a like a little piece of Portland in St Catharines: frequented by students in their skinny jeans, plaid shirts and converse sneakers, their state-of-the-art laptops spread on the tables next to a specialty brew of coffee or a pint of local craft beer. Mahtay is a hip place, but has never felt pretentious to me. An art exhibition... More

I was in with a group and a friend purchased my drinks for me. So it's hard to speak on the "value" at first hand. But everyone in my group said the value was reasonable. The atmosphere has an artsy retro feel to it. With a large portion of one side of the store having a chalk board wall. There... More
