First of all, this place is misleading. Pleasant and very friendly until you sit and order. We visited this restaurant before a show at the Stratford festival with another couple. The server was great. We arrived at 5 pm. We were told during our meal...we needed to be out before 7 pm. Giving us a 2 hr window. Plenty of time right. Well, we had waited forever for the food. The server stated the kitchen is backed up. Not our problem. This is where the problem originated. Yet the manager and owner operator failed to acknowledge their faults. Mind you one member of our party was loud and vocal, and wasn’t offered any apologies and walked away from the table. It wasn’t a pleasant atmosphere to say the least. A rude couple next to us interrupted our conversation with the server and then the manager. There was a mixed conversation between the server and manager that wasn’t relayed to us, hence why it took the manager 30 minutes and 3 asks to speak with him. Yet when he arrived he stood in a posture only a charging bull would attempt to defeat with his hands clasped and ready to battle. I said nothing and paid the bill for the entire table. Tipped the server well. As we were leaving the neighbouring rude table was instructed by the server Todd to email the owner operator about the incident and to give Fosters sone backup. This was so unprofessional of them as they all know they were in a pickle because we were still eating and another party had reserved this table. I followed up with a email to Craig the Owner and Operator of this place asking for a call to discuss the professionalism from his manager, probably his son and the concern we had with the wait times. Craig calls the next morning and was defensive, not the least apologetic for the incident regardless what happened. Didn’t offer nothing and left the conversation dead without an opportunity to keep us as customers or from having us share our experience. All he focused on was the behaviour from one of our party guests. Not acknowledging the problem started with his kitchen not able to keep up with the food demand of their guests. . Don’t get me wrong, things happen in restaurants but as a manager and a Owner operator. They certainly don’t put their customers first. Very confrontational and if you want good business and good reviews you need to be good to your customers. I’m not asking for a refund by all means, but having some compassion to where and how the incident started should have be noticed, acknowledged and apologized. After reading some reviews of this place after we got home, we noticed a lot of unhappy customers, low to bad reviews as well. Check for yourself. Customers mean repeat business and shared stories of their visit to this restaurant . They are blessed however to be in a high traffic tourist area. That’s what will save this business. Certainly not the service from the upper management and owner operator. We should have read their reviews before making this date. Geez.More

We came anticipating a relaxed Sunday brunch with too many calories. We were seated and served quickly and pleasantly. The eggs benedict were, as far as it goes, first rate. But English muffins are thin, and the additional carbohydrates one hopes for at a brunch...were nowhere in sight. Staff should ask if you want sides as a means to telling you that you aren't getting any. We might have ordered more food if we weren't advised that our time (apparently an hour) was us and the next reservation for our table had arrived. On paying we discovered that the hot water poured into a teapot was charged to us as a second order of tea. Two us on leaving went immediately to a coffee shop and ordered more breakfast.More

Lovely menu. Tasty food. Great atmosphere. Marvellous waitstaff. Kitchen needs to step up as service was exceptionally slow at lunchtime.

we picked this pub randomly as we were in town for a burial and unfamiliar with local restaurants. Our first encounter with an employee was abrupt and curt, all we did was ask if we could sit outside. She seemed much better with customers by...the time we left. Our server Ryan was Great! Funny, helpful, just the right amount of table attention and knew the menu quite well. Everyone very much enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich, soup, ham & cheese sandwich, fries, and mushroom app! Clean bathrooms !! Worth a visit, we will go back next time we visit stratford!More

This restaurant was recommended by our AirBnB host, and the restaurant did not disappoint. Good food at a reasonable price, and very friendly and attentive staff. Nice historic interior.

If you’re going to a show at the Avon Theater look no further. The friendly staff and kitchen knows how to get you to the show on-time. I enjoyed this a generously sized BOURBON BBQ SMOKED PORK LOIN CHOP: grilled peach & basil compound butter,...seasonal vegetables, chive & roasted tomato mashed potatoes.More

This place was recommended to us as a good place to go before our tickets for the Avon theatre. We arrived for our Father's Day reservation at noon and the place was busy but not full. There were five of us. The hostess was kind...enough to bring us water when she saw that after 10 minutes no one had come to see us. The waitress showed up around 12:15 and seemed nice enough; however with a 2 PM show, we never expected to be receiving our food at 1:20 PM. We were there for Sunday brunch and were surprised to find out that they ran out of hollandaise so no benedicts. What is brunch without benedicts you ask? Lunch. In any event, we would have been happy enough if our food did not take over an hour. Also: - the home fries were either cooked but cold (the smaller pieces), or undercooked (anything closer to 1 inch cubes or larger). - the french fries were soaked in grease and also undercooked. -the bun for the sandwiches was burnt. On the plus side: -the French toast was good if not somewhat small (two half slices or one piece total). - the mushroom caramelized onion and swiss omelette was pretty good and the toasted baguette was also nicely done. - LOVE the B52 coffee, and pineapple juice but for the cost of the juice, it's a small portion. One can wonder why we were the ONLY table that were not served after an hour. Could it be that we did not look like anyone else in the restaurant? We had two white folks, a Latino, a southeast Asian and a lighter brown skinned individual. Well that would be cynical. But not untrue since there were no other ethnically diverse individuals to be found in the place. But the following facts exist: - every table inside the restaurant turned over once if not twice before we were served. The two tables beside us came well after us, ate and one table for two left before we even got our food. - the patio was a similar story- not full but not crazy. - we were sitting facing the kitchen and could see the food coming up. The waitress told us at 1 PM it would be up next, but it took another 20 minutes. - management did not come over to speak to us. The waitress offered us a 'free' refill coffee for the B52 mug which was nice but only necessary because our food was so late. This was a very BAD start to Fathers Day. We would suggest trying another place and doubt we will be back again.More

I had lunch here before a matinee at the Avon Theatre. I had made a reservation, and I was seated immediately. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had Eggs Benedict. They are on the pricy side. Good menu with different options...to choose from. Fosters is a 5 minute walk to the Avon Theatre.More

Ryan took care of us during our meals and he made us feel right at...home! Portions are generous and menu can accomodate different diets. Wow what a train wreck! Expected much better!!! Food choices ok, place busy but we waited an hour from the time we sat down to our appetizer. We had mentioned we were attending a performance and were also told another seating was coming at 7:30...so that hour wait rushed US -we were certainly ready to order. Parts of the order missing, sloppy snippy service. Worst of all was finding the sticker from the avocado in the main salad dish!! We were offered only half off the entree. Frankly that was inexcusable and should have come right off the meal as a great deal of it was left. Very sloppy of the kitchen and not correct of the server but had to get to our performance so didn’t pursue it. Cannot recommend this place.More

We arrived and got a lovely table on the patio. Good shade. The server a young woman was curt and seemed annoyed from the moment we sat down. She informed us there were no grilled vegetables and no wraps. We ordered four Cobb salads. Each...salad was totally different. Some were missing the grilled chicken. Others had cucumbers and tomato and carrots others had none. The lettuce was also different and honestly felt like it was out if a mixed green bag. Not fresh and tastey, but wilted. We asked about the missing chicken and it was brought. No explanation. We will not return. We really look forward to the dining experience. This was a total disappointment. Further the salads were $22+.More
