People who frequent Fosters always tell me about the great service, welcoming atmosphere and good food. But somehow I never visited until today: perhaps because it is too popular? In any case, I did go with a friend today (Jan. 7.) during which he enjoyed the crab cakes (which he regularly orders), and a beer, and I savored some English Breakfast tea and the conversation. All in all a very pleasant afternoon and no pressure place steps from the Avon and Studio Theatres. I would recommend it. Look especially for Sidney, a delightful server.

We chose to go to Foster's to celebrate American Thanksgiving. No, we did not have turkey. We chose roasted chicken and the chef's pasta, to which we added starters and dessert choices suggested by our server. Excellent! We have taken visitors to Stratford to Foster's many times and have never been disappointed. The menu is creative without being over the top and contains standards like steak - a huge favorite with steak lovers - so is a very safe choice.

Dined at Fosters Inn Restaurant with a friend just before St Patty's Day (pre-pandemic). Theatre was cancelled and pubs visited had only a handful of patrons. After reading reviews and checking the menu we made reservations. When we arrived the place was packed, clearly an indicator that this is a very good restaurant. We were shown to a cozy table had great service and each enjoyed a delicious steak dinner cooked to perfection. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner in Stratford.

It was nice to go here because both my friend and I are choosing vegetarian meals more and more in restaurants, and this one has plenty of both vegetarian and meat dishes. I ordered a chicken wrap and my friend had an entree size salad, plus two coffees and dessert. The food came quickly and it was tasty and fresh. Had one or both of us felt like a meat or fish entree there were several fine choices, including fragrant crab cakes, crisply fried squid, gourmet burgers and steaks.

Eleven of us arrived for our 6 pm reservation in a timely fashion June 13, 2022. Our drinks orders were taken within about 15 minutes and our meal requests were taken. By 7 the parents of a young diner informed the waitress that their daughter had a dance lesson at 7:30 and she needed to have her meal. Her hamburger arrived and her father had to leave to take her to the appointment. The rest of us were not served until 7:50. My lambburger was overdone and tasteless and the dressing was missing from my Caesar salad. Our server never asked if any of us wanted dessert or coffee after the main. We were told that this delay was because the kitchen was short a chef. We should have been forewarned about this when we arrived.

Every time I order Cobb salad for pickup for 15 to 20 minutes, I end up waiting another 20 minutes after arriving. No apologies ensue. In restaurant service is generally very good.

Over the years we've visited several of the restaurants in Stratford before or after visiting the theatre, and we've settled on Foster's as our favourite. The prices are reasonable and the food is excellent. The four of us (our friends are Stratford locals) had an unhurried visit with just enough attention from our server to make the evening very pleasant. I've read other reviews commenting on the difficulties of timing of meals, but we had no problems and each of us, with different entrees, thought his or her meal was the best! We will definitely be back at Foster's!

Our group of 13 had a reservation for 5:30 this evening and did not get served until after 7 pm. Service was slow and lack luster. Food allergies were not respected. One person in the party had a very dry slab of salmon. French fries for the younger folks looked burnt. Would have hoped for more.

We arrived and got a lovely table on the patio. Good shade. The server a young woman was curt and seemed annoyed from the moment we sat down. She informed us there were no grilled vegetables and no wraps. We ordered four Cobb salads. Each salad was totally different. Some were missing the grilled chicken. Others had cucumbers and tomato and carrots others had none. The lettuce was also different and honestly felt like it was out if a mixed green bag. Not fresh and tastey, but wilted. We asked about the missing chicken and it was brought. No explanation.
We will not return.
We really look forward to the dining experience. This was a total disappointment. Further the salads were $22+.

I was having a hard time locating a restaurant that was open for breakfast in Stratford on Labour Day. I was impressed with the helpfulness and politeness of the gentleman on the phone when I called to make reservations.
When I walked into the restaurant, the decor was simple and unique. My food arrived very quickly, and was at a perfect temperature. I ordered the french toast with cheese and caramelized apples. My food was tasty and to the point. I would definitely return for some tasty food and warm hospitality:

I don't normally write reviews but our experience was so refreshingly positive at Foster's Inn I felt obligated to do so.
Food was clearly made to order and fresh. This was our first time visiting and we will definitely be back.
There were 6 in our party and we had a variety of apps and entrees. All were creatively made and the steaks were done to perfection.
An obvious step above the usual chains we go to.
Great service. Great food. Highly recommended.

We came anticipating a relaxed Sunday brunch with too many calories. We were seated and served quickly and pleasantly. The eggs benedict were, as far as it goes, first rate. But English muffins are thin, and the additional carbohydrates one hopes for at a brunch were nowhere in sight. Staff should ask if you want sides as a means to telling you that you aren't getting any. We might have ordered more food if we weren't advised that our time (apparently an hour) was us and the next reservation for our table had arrived. On paying we discovered that the hot water poured into a teapot was charged to us as a second order of tea. Two us on leaving went immediately to a coffee shop and ordered more breakfast.

Located steps from the Avon Theatre Fosters is known for its steaks. Having said this all the entrees are amazing. You can’t go wrong eating at Fosters. The decor is very modern and makes you feel comfortable. The service is fast and friendly.

we picked this pub randomly as we were in town for a burial and unfamiliar with local restaurants. Our first encounter with an employee was abrupt and curt, all we did was ask if we could sit outside. She seemed much better with customers by the time we left.
Our server Ryan was Great! Funny, helpful, just the right amount of table attention and knew the menu quite well.
Everyone very much enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich, soup, ham & cheese sandwich, fries, and mushroom app!
Clean bathrooms !!
Worth a visit, we will go back next time we visit stratford!

My husband & I randomly stopped at Fosters Inn on our way home from a holiday. I ordered the daily pasta special, “Singapore Pasta” with shrimp which was full of veggies & shrimp in a delicious homemade sauce. My husband ordered the chicken linguine pasta with lots of spinach & cherry tomatoes in a lemon cream sauce. He loved it. Friendly, efficient service, good portions, delicious taste. Will definitely be back!
