We recently joined dined at the Dante Club in Timmins. It was all-around an amazing experience. Though we have dined all around the world, and in incredible restaurants, we found the Dante Club food delicious, (we are Italian), the service friendly and attentive, the restaurant clean and the buffet scrumptive and full of selection. Coffee was excellent and so were the desserts. Can't say enough about this wonderful place.

Good fresh cooking, alot of pasta and meat. Very restrictive on what is available to diners with a tight food regimen. Alot of ground beef and fried chicken. If you a are a big eater great, if not too pricey.

Italian food from years past. I guess one more place to avoidThis place was great In the years past. You used to get good food that was tasty and home made. It seems as they are going more to Quebec style as the tasty

The Dante Club hasn’t changed much in the past 30 years.
The decor is boring white, that’s about it.
Went for the Friday buffet with my 86 year old Italian mom and 6 members of family.
There is no Friday buffet anymore, they recently changed that.
The menu is old Italian, and that would be okay if it had any love put in it but everything we had was as sad as the atmosphere.
Penne arrabiatta was dry, and not a scent of heat.
Ross Otto was made with long grain rice... who does that?
Chicken cutlet was dry as dust.
Pickerel was full of bones.
Buffalo mozzarella was tasteless.
Only the gnocchi and meatballs were worthy of eating.
The waitress needed serious training. Did not open the wine at the table or offer a taste before pouring. Referred to us as “yous guys”
Stuffy and lifeless...
Whomever is responsible for quality control should turn in his pay cheque.
Whoever is cooking... well, they’re not Italian I can tell you that.
Until I hear that they have put someone with some passion and pride in charge, we cannot return or recommend the Dante to anyone.
Shame as there are no legit Italian restaurant alternatives in Timmins.

As manager of the Porcupine Dante Club and La Trattoria Dante, I apologize for your experience at our restaurant. We at La Trattoria Dante make customer satisfaction our number one priority and I will speak with my kitchen and restaurant staff to determine what was the problem and how we can prevent similar problems in the future. As for the decor, we are limited since the restaurant is situated in the main banquet hall and so we do what we can to enhance the dining environment. Thank you for taking the time to review our establishment.

I left Timmins in 1982. I go back time to time to visit family. Lunch at the Dante Club is always on the must-do list. Still the best food in Timmins.

I had the pleasure to dine at the Dante Club with a group of work collegues. We had a wonderful meal that was fresh, expertly served and topped off with a delicious dessert. The lasagna was clearly made in-house, the chicken cutlet was the best I have had.
I would highly recommend lunch or supper there! I also hear good things are coming in the future for this fine restaurant, and look forward to it!

We had a nice family supper with the extended family. I love how they have round tables that fit 8 to 10 adults comfortably. It makes conversation so much more enjoyable as compared to a rectangular table that most restaurants have. Everyone in our party had the buffet. We also ordered a few appetizers to start. The food was absolutely delicious and there was always plenty at the buffet. It was always fresh and hot. There's a lot of choice as well. By far our favourite is always the lasagna. It is to die for. Dessert was also decent.

We were a large group, organized function. we had an excellent selection of wine, paired without food. Our dinner experience had 5 courses, all excellently served.

Browsing the internet I stumbled onto a mention of La Gondola restaurant inside The Porcupine Dante Club. I was intrigued and gave it a try for lunch.
La Gondola is hidden on the second floor inside The Porcupine Dante Club. Stairs only, not wheel chair accessible. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise... a high ceilinged pleasantly decorated hall, tables with white table cloths, tables easily rearrangeable to accommodate groups ranging from small to large. I arrived 1/2 hour after lunch hours opening and more than half of the seats were already occupied... always a good sign.
The restaurant offers buffet and a la carte, lunch and dinner, Thursdays and Fridays only. I opted for the buffet which included a salad bar, soup, hot entrees, and desserts.
The buffet is not haute cuisine... but good basic Italian home cooking. Salad bar was basic standard OK. Soup of the day was a really good carrot soup. Hot buffet items included two kinds of pasta, large meat balls, beef ribs, chicken and Italian sausage. I managed to sample all of them... all very good. Choice of six desserts... cake, cupcakes, brownies, etc. I opted for a small cup of a whipped cream cake concoction which was very good.
Service was friendly... it's a buffet, but beverages are ordered and brought to the table.
Good coffee.
All of the above for $13.95 plus tax. Very good value for a very good substantial lunch.
Additional notes:
- The hostess told me that La Gondola has been in operation for more than 20 years.
- She also told me that the dinner buffet is considerably more extensive... priced at $23.95 When I return to the Timmins area next year I will definitely bring my wife to town for a dinner at La Gondola

This club offers excellent authentic Italian food at a reasonable price. There is a wide selection available. This club provides both a la cart and buffet dining. It is also available for private event bookings. On an aside, they have a New Year's Eve Dinner & Dance that is a great event to attend. We have attended for many years and have a thoroughly good time! They also make a wonderful & delicious lasagna tray that you can order & take home.
