Great vibe; relaxed and laid back. An open kitchen - in fact, so open it's like eating at your friend's kitchen table. Friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. The chalkboard wall lists a wide variety of teas and coffees, as well as daily specials; a lengthy menu rounds out the offering. Tucked away in a quiet residential area west of... More

I stumbled upon this place while on a site visit for work. I wanted to grab a quick bite but ended up sitting down for a bit. It's a quaint place with friendly staff and good food. An easy place to relax and soak in the sun. I had their salmon sandwich - YUM. I'd go back just for that!

Luna Cafe - check! Was finally able cross this off my brunch spot list and there's nothing better than finding a GREAT place to catch up with friends before taking off for the holidays. The atmosphere was almost cool/simplistic/euphoric and the food was absolutely delicious. Bottom line: if you are in the area, it's a must-go!

This is another neighbourhood restaurant that I finally got to try. There's a great patio out front, which was packed, and quite a few tables inside. The food is excellent, very tasty and enough to satisfy anyone's hunger. Unfortunately they were so busy that service was spotty, had to ask for every single thing, and we never did get napkins.... We had brunch here on a Sunday morning. It was busy but we found a table for 2 inside. The restaurant is in a residential area, and, to us, that definitely added to the charm of the place. It is a simple, casual place that is about the great food. Though we were there during brunch, we didn't order any... More

Great Café - delicious healthy breakfast in a shabby chic environment, lovely server too. Off the main Queen st but only by a 5 minute walk.

After a very early morning flight into Toronto, we stumbled upon this place. In need of good coffee and a solid breakfast, we found both at Luna. Service is a little slow as each dish is made to order we both had peameal bacon, eggs, and excellent toast. The meals came with nice mixed greens--they already had dressing on them,... More

Having googled Toronto brunch spots, this came up in the top 50. We went for Saturday morning brunch and it made a nice change not to have to line up, we arrived about 11:45 am. We had coffee and smoked salmon eggs benedict with new potatoes and greens. The food was good and tasted really fresh, the poached eggs were... More

We stopped here for a quick lunch since Julie's (down the street) was closed. We decided to sit outside at a tiny table in their tiny patio. The service was slow but courteous. We both had the free range chicken wrap which was very good. It's served with a small mediocre green salad. It's not licensed so we just had... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
