Four of us dined on the patio last night and it was fantastic! Great service and everyone loved their orders. Recommend ordering any of the burrito items but suggest ordering it in a bowl, huge portion and so much flavour! We shared 2 apps (pic...de gallo and shrimp ceviche) each had an entree and drinks and the bills were roughly $50 each. Incredible value, left overs to take home!More

Well I hate to leave a bad review but.... I'd rather go to La Carnita (on queen, a bit west of this place) for tacos, half the price and superior offerings. Also - most notably I won't have a big frowny face at the front...door. I walked in Chula for some takeout and was given the stare down by a woman who was obviously training two young ladies who were nice enough but also DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SMILE. The food was tasty and nicely presented, quickly fulfilled even though they were busy but as I said, cost about $10 a taco rather than the $5 a taco kind of price I'm used to elsewhere in the city. I'm not saying I will never go there again but I'm pretty motivated to try to find anywhere else to get what I'm looking for because at this place I got a serious dose of negativity that two days later I'm still hung over from! Hopefully this review helps me purge it... somehow I don't think so. Yuck. Sorry you don't know how your bad vibes affect others! Please try to adjust your attitude and don't be classist or whatever that was. NO ONE wants to see a frowning mean expression when they walk in to a place for the first time. So not ok! I was hungry and there was no where else to go so I went ahead with my order but I regret it.More

Went for a family meal to this restaurant after it was recommended to us. The food was pretty tasty but very expensive for what you got, particularly the appetizers. We ordered the Mexican street corn, brussel sprouts and guacamole as appetizers. The street corn was...1 cob of corn cut in three pieces with some alfalfa sprouts, a bit of salad dressing and a few pieces of tomato for $14; the guacamole had about 15 dry tortilla chips and a nappy full of basic guacamole for $10 and the brussell sprouts had 6 sprouts cut in half with about 4 cashews a bit of sauce and garnish for $16. As for the meals we had an enchilada, a burrito and a steak. The enchilada was flat with very little in it for $20 (the ones at Taco Bell are bigger), the burrito was about the same and the steak was a basic 6 ounce steak for $30. We also each ordered a drink. My wife had the Chula margarita, I had the habanero, mango margarita and my son had a Sangria. The drinks were in 6 ounce cups, mostly filled with ice with some white things in the cubes (not sure what it was) and black salt on the rim and were between $14 and $16 each. We ended the meal with an order of churros which were good but very thin and about 1/2 scoop of vanilla ice cream and some caramel sauce for $22. When it was all said and done, the bill came to almost $200 for 3 people after tax and we left hungry. I guess you pay for the atmosphere (the waiter was really nice too) but it’s not worth it. I’ll stick to Mexico Lindo and Mucho Burrito when I want Mexican.More

We have been looking for a interesting place to eat in this area near our marina for quite sometime. Today for a birthday celebratory lunch we found this lovely place, all three of us enjoyed our generous portions with fast friendly service. I had the...vegetarian, TEQUILA BRAISED MUSHROOM    /    $19 braised white oyster mushrooms + guacamole + pico de gallo + roasted corn + cumin rice + black beans + salsa roja & verde + avocado crema + queso + cilantro in a bowl. One other of my party had the CHIPOTLE CHICKEN BURRITO    /    $18 chipotle braised chicken + guacamole + pico de gallo + roasted corn + cumin rice + black beans + salsa roja & verde + avocado crema + queso + cilantro The third person in our party had MEXICAN BREAKFAST POUTINE 13 poached egg + pico de gallo + Monterey jack + home fries + hollandaise The decor is trendy, fresh and upbeat it stays open later for anyone wanting drinks and a snack. I'm very pleased to find something different then the typical fast food offered.More

We were invited to our friends milestone birthday party. We were seated upstairs in a covered heated patio. Jules and Jose were our servers. The food was amazing. There was a set menu so we were able to sample different items. The lychee cervice was...awesome. It was vegetarian however the texture look and feel was real.. we had to ask if there was seafood in it...there wasn't. Chicken enchiladas were delicious. Jules and Jose were quick, friendly and accommodating. This restaurant is a journey to get too however well worth the food. The drinks seemed like they only had 0.5ounces of tequila. Other than that a great experience.More

Sorry I missed posting this sooner but loved the vibe at this place. With the open and closures I hope it survives because I do plan to return when I am back in Toronto. The food, drinks and service was great.

Terrible standard margarita out of a tap 👎👎 You would think a bartender at a well rated place actually took the time to make a fresh margarita huh? Well you’d be wrong if you were at Chula. For $12 they dump that sh** out of...a tap and into a water glass with a bit of salt and call it a night. Service was sub-par. Food was decent (we had the beef and fish tacos) nice size portions, but mild flavour. Place was very overcrowded for a city amidst a pandemicMore

Casual spot serving simple, fresh tasting Mexican staples including tacos, ceviche, burritos and enchiladas. Everything nicely prepared and plated, but all under seasoned. Decor inside and out evokes a cantina. Service was equally casual, on the slow side, and appetizers were forgotten and rushed out...late in meal after a friendly inquiry without any apology or bill adjustment of the obvious mistake. Worth the visit but not worth a repeat.More

We love Chula. The food is just always great. LOVE their Mango Habanero Margarita. Servers try SO hard, during these most trying Covid times. Portions for the price are good. The back patio is just magical. Highly recommend!

This was my first time at this restaurant along with 5 other friends who also was their first time. As well my first time at a restaurant and on the patio since covid-19. The food was delicious and the price was reasonable. We were given...a limited time to be at our table which made sense. The restaurant did not have a menu and on our table was a small placard on a metal prong. Not everyone always reads that at a table. One of the ladies did and said we have to scan the QR with our phone to see the menu. It would have been nice for our waiter to tell us this. Also, I did not have data on my phone so I was at a disadvantage. Thank goodness one of my friend let me use her phone to see the menu. What happens if none of us had a phone with data or did not bring our phone? I think the rest should have written the menu (which was not a lot on it) and wrote it on a blackboard for all to see. Also, speaking from other friends who have gone out to restaurants. We were told they do not serve tap water that our only choice is sparkling (not my fav) or bottled water (not my fav also on what they had). When I asked why and was curious to the reason. Our server said that the owner decided that he wanted to carry that rule in his restaurant. I guess that is fine but the reason to me just showed that they wanted to just make extra money off of their customers. I understand businesses have taken the brunt to the covid pandemic. However, so have ppl who have lost their jobs. Another problem we ran into was when a couple of my friends were asking the waitresses a question. They were given a rude response by not one, not two but 3 waitresses. (not our waiter). Even though the food was great if the service is not that is a deterrent for coming back.More

It only made things more exceptional that margaritas were 5 dollars. The general Taos chicken taco was excellent along with the eggs benny and over easy poutine. The zucchini fritters were stellar and not what you would expect.
