First time, not a charm. Order was ready on time - great. Portions slightly smaller than other places. We ordered three dishes: average. The papaya salad was below average - it was like wilted vegetables sitting in soup. Looked and tasted like it was made...in early in the day. Nice staff.More
I have driven by this restaurant several times it is in my neighbourhood and never ordered from there. I will now be ordering from there a lot more often. I ordered pad Thai, cold rolls, a green chicken curry and massaman lamb curry. Spectacular. The...depth of flavour and the subtle nuances were actually some of the best I’ve had in recent memory. I have travelled to Thailand and all over the world eating food and I can say that this was definitely a game changer for Toronto Thai food. The cold rolls were crispy fresh and delicious. Pad Thai was incredible. Normally when I order a pad Thai from a restaurant it turns into a gluey mess But not here. The green curry was delightful but the star for me was the lamb shank curry as I have never had a dish like that before. The staff seemed friendly and professional and I would highly recommend this to anybody if you’d like to explore the culinary wonders of Thailand without worrying about getting onto a plane and travelling to far flung climes. 5 ⭐️ rating for sure. Check this place out! .More
We had actually got in our car to leave the Junction and head home when my wife spied Isaan Der. We turned around, parked, walked in and were seated inside of a minute (it got crazy busy within a half an hour with people waiting...for tables). We've done a number of popular Thai spots in the City. This one can go toe-to-toe with any of them. Cute little spot, maybe 50 seats maximum. Not an upscale location, just a super friendly, casual dining spot. Crowd consisted of couples, families, and even babies! Waitress was absolutely awesome. Order was handled efficiently and food arrived really fast. We had the golden bags gaeng massaman curry, and an order of pineapple fried rice (my favorite). It was all superb! Extremely reasonable price for the quality of the food! Wouldn't hesitate to go back and will encourage friends to go!More
Best Thai food I've had, hands down, in a VERY long time. Live around the corner and have had to exercise tremendous self-control to keep from eating here too often. Pad Kee Mao and Pad Grapao (street food dish) are my staples because of how...AMAZING THEY ARE. I do *intend* to try other things on the menu, but hot damn. Tough to say no to the delicious regular rotation I've got going.More
I always get Green Curry with Fish! Love it!! I enjoy the ambiance of Isaan Der and the friendly staff. All the food I have tried has been delicious.
Three of us ate at Isaan Der last week and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The place is small enough to be cozy. It does a brisk business and was full when we were there. The menu has a lot of options. I had a...lovely curry with shrimp and sweet potato and it was spiced just right. My daughter and her boyfriend went with a Pad Si Ew and a Pad Grapao. Both were excellent. And the portions were huge! There was enough for a generous take out for lunch the next day. A must have appetizer is called Golden Bags, a deep-fried pastry filled with water chestnuts, taro, herbs and spices. I would highly recommend this spot.More
I eat here as often as I can! It’s my new fav Thai spot in Toronto! Best spring rolls ever! Very rich Thai curries, excellent pad Thai noodles, yummy papaya salad, many other very good tasty dishes on their menu. Best part is chef carefully...selects all ingredients and inspects each dish that leaves the kitchen! The flavours here are just incomparable to many other mediocre Thai restos in the city. They just don’t compare! And service is excellent! Don’t matter which night of the week I go, they are always either packed or close to with non stop takeout coming and going. Try it! U won’t regret it!More
Décor: Simple interior designs with word stencils on one wall, and a straw hats on the other side, with a bar in the back. Service: Service was not overly attentive which was surprising considering how few people were at the restaurant on the weekend evening....Service was fairly prompt to order and deliver, but did not show up much afterwards. Food: As others have described, their food has a good depth of flavours. It hits most of the notes - sweet, sour, salty, spicy fairly well across a range of their menu. We ordered quite a few dishes to get a fair impression of the menu. Portion sizes don't look like much but we were satisfied. Price: More on the higher end of moderately priced. Tips: The restaurant has a policy to add 18% for groups over 6. I might be able to agree with this is the party was indeed large and there has to be more coordination, but 6 is hardly a large gathering, and self tipping at 18% is just an undeserved money grab. Overall: When considering the combination of price, service and food quality, Isaan Der is nice enough to try, but it does not compel enough to go out of your way to return.More
We started with their special "Golden Bags". These little bundles are their special recipe...delicious! There are only a certain amount made each day as they are so labour intensive...want to go back and have more! The fresh spring rolls were great - had them with...a vegan peanut sauce. Had the Pad Si Ew - I had mild and it was delicious - they use fresh noodles...again, would love more! Great service. Others recommended Pad Kee Mao and Gaeng Phed (Red Curry).More
