What a little Persian gem in a sea of Greek restaurants on the Danforth! So many unique dishes, we did not know what to try. We settled on the platter for two people which includes your choice of two appetizers, two stews, a skewer of beef and a skewer of chicken. We chose olives with crushed almonds and walnuts, pickled vegetables, carrot mushroom and tomato stew, and celery parsley and chicken stew. Dessert was pistachio and saffron ice cream and hot is very aromatic green tea! The food was so yummy we will definitely be back and bring friends!

We organized a physically distanced dinner for the first time since the lockdown due to Coronavirus. We hosted 4 guests (6 of us in total) for a backyard dinner and we all agreed to order from Herby's after hearing good things about this restaurant from neighbours. Our orders included: Mast o Khiar, Shirazi salad, pickled vegetables, Piti Stew, Vegetarian Gormeh Stew, Prince, King BBQ, Chenjeh, and Chicken Breast. Everything was delicious! The flavours and the spicing were truly something different and fabulous. Everyone was happy with their meal. The biggest surprise was dessert. We had ordered the Baklava cake (which is FABULOUS) and the date & nut balls. They didn't have any of the latter, so the owner said he would substitue it with something else (with our permission.) Well, we don't know what we got, but it was weirdly wonderful. It had the texture of a dry jam (we don't know what the fruit was, or if it was even a fruit), but with cardamom and maybe rosewater? It was very strange but in a thoroughly wonderful way. We put it on our baklava cake and the pairing was divine. All in all, it was a fabulous evening of delicous food - just what we all needed. The owner even threw in a free large salad for us to share! We will definitely be ordering from here again. I gave it a 4/5 because we can't rate the restaurant on service or vibe. The food, though...that's unique and delicious.

This was our first time eating in this wonderful cozy restaurant. The Persian Tabrizi style food reminded us the grand ma kitchen with the same taste.
The appetizers , traditional tea service and main courses were amazing. Also the staff service and hospitality was excellent.
We will definitely visit it again and suggest it to others.

Sober and clean. impeccable and courteous service. As for the food, the kebabs were really great but the sauces had ups and downs. The fesenjan was simply great. on the other hand, the ghormesabzi tasted too marked by fenugreek, too many beans and especially not enough Iranian black lemon (limou amani): a real disappointment. The rice was also "fine" without being great.The starters were really good with a little surprise .... the pickles that are generally offered by simply putting it at the table were here offered as a starter at 7 CAD. In total for the culinary chapter it was good without being great. As for the bill, I personally find it high in terms of the framework and the service (165 CAD a 3).

Used Herby’s to cater for a 12 person home meal. Amazing food, excellent presentation and superior customer service. Every guest asked where the food came from. Highly recommended.

We've eaten at Herby several times now, each one a real pleasure. The food is Iranian as is the decor. Dolma is a lovely way to start the meal--delicious and nicely presented. There are many stews and with them many are served with saffron rice--just perfect. The lunch special is a good place to begin your experience with Herby, but the menu is long promising many more promising visits. My one suggestion: the service might be a bit quicker.

Visiting Toronto last week, I went with a couple of friends to Herby restaurant on Danforth. I'm not an expert on Persian cuisine, but on the recommendation of the friendly server I ordered the Tava Kebab (oven roasted minced beef kebab served with grilled tomatoes and rice). The food was amazing, along with my black tea, and the prices are quite reasonable. My lunch companions also loved their meals. Next time I'm on the Danforth, I'll return to try another dish. I have to admit I'm still grieving for the loss of the venerable Detroit diner nearby (the Detroit greasy spoon breakfast place had a bad fire), but the Herby helps me feel good about the Danforth.

Great food and great service.
New restaurant on Danforth and the staff is welcoming. I had a platter with both chicken and beef skewers and the meet was juicy and very flavourful.

Probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to. My girlfriend wanted to try this ‘fesenjoon’ dish, so she called Herby to confirm they had the dish and made reservations.. we get there and they were very disorganized. After 15 minutes of being seated, they finally gave us menus. They kept walking by and never really acknowledged us. We even pressed the button for service. The server then approached us and said “sorry, we are really busy and we are unprepared. I don’t even know what we have available”. My girlfriend then said she wanted to order the fesenjoon and they happened to have no more of it. A bit disappointing especially when we called to confirm that it was available. We ended up ordering the beef skewers and lamb chops. It actually took a long time until the food came out. They served my girlfriend first and then we had to wait another 20 minutes until my dish came out. Poor coordination and the quality was just not good. The service was beyond disappointing in my opinion. I don’t know anyone who would tell their customers “we are really unprepared”. I also noticed the family in front of us picked up their stuff and left as nobody was serving them.

Fast becoming a local favourite, Herby offers incredibly delicious and flavourful Persian food in a welcoming environment. Friendly service, with the waiter taking care to explain the way the food was prepared and share recommendations of customer favourites. The sharing platter is a great way to try a range of menu offerings, and their $15 lunch special is incredible value, and absolutely delicious.

Herby Restaurant on the Danforth serves delicious Persian cuisine in a welcoming, warm location. The food is incredible- stews, grilled meat, salads, desserts- all served by an excellent waiter who takes the time to explain the menu carefully. The owner is the chef, his recipes are from the family, and it shows. Have the sampler platter- appetizers, stews, grilled chicken and beef, dessert and tea- and you'll be making plans for your next visit to try all of the other dishes on the menu.
