Although Boland's has patio space available on Mt Pleasant, we decided to pick up our meals and eat them at home. The quality is high, but quantities tend to be small. I shared a grilled shrimp and scallop starter for two with my wife, which...was tasty but had only one scallop for each of us. The 6-oz rib eye I had was very good. My wife had the rolled souffle; one of our sons had short ribs; the other had grilled chicken medallions. Everyone was satisfied but not exactly blown away.More

Today, I ate at Bolands with my husband and step-mom for a fabulous lunch. The menu was wonderfully varied and Chris and Adam are so flexible about the menu, it is really good on any given day. Mom had a special omlette which seemed to...be crafted specifically for her, my husband had a treat two pieces of fresh fish - one lake trout and one pickerel and I had pan seared chicken. A fabulous variety and the three of us truly enjoyed our entrees. Paired with a lovely white wine, lovely personable service and a quiet ambience throughout the meal, we truly enjoyed our time at Boland's. This restaurant is a long standing community stalwart and we will be back often.More

We were in Toronto for a doctor appointment and went to Boland's for lunch. What a great experience. Our meals were delicious and plenty. My wife and I shared a salad which was great. We met a group from England who came in for lunch....The owner Chris was bending over to please their every request. We just loved this placeMore

I don't live in Toronto anymore, but when I return for business Boland's is always on my required destinations. Always a delicious meal and a great atmosphere.

I usually give a restaurant a second chance to deliver an outstanding experience given that I dined there upon a recommendation but not this time! The lunch menu was limited and overpriced. Small portions, poor quality, weak presentation and tasteless are my choice of words...to describe the non-experience. So much so I did not feel nourished or satisfied, and opted to have a dessert. Big mistake! The tiny sliver of chocolate brownie was disappointing and not worthy of the price of $11.50. In addition, the service was also terrible.More

First time visit to this restaurant. Went on the basis of good reviews. Server wasn't very knowledgeable or helpful. The vegetarian option was a fish dish with shrimp?! We asked for bread which arrived after we'd finished the main course. The sides weren't as advertised...because "we sometime change the menu". Won't be returning. The food was OK but portions small.More

For a Tuesday evening, Boland's certainly was popular, making having a personal conversation a bit of a challenge. Menu was reasonably varied. Desert choices were minimal. Service average.

There are many small restaurants in the area, often with names that describe or imply their cuisine. There was no particular reason to go to this one except that on Tuesdays wine was half price which excited my parsimony. I had venison wrapped in proscutto,...my companion had cod. I have never had a better meal in Toronto, my venison came with mash, veg and a sprig of red currant . The fish was cooked to perfection The service was friendly without being too familiar. I had a strong sense that this was a foodie shrine. We split a lemon curd dessert which was exquisite. As an unexpected benefit we could actually hear and speak normally, without shrieking. We were there early and it must get noisy later.More

All around good, from appetizer to dessert.Only downside is that it is small and noisy. It is one of several good restos on that block of Mt. Pleasant.
