We've ordered takeout a number of times now from the Express on bayview. Overall we rate it about 90% satisfied. Most of the dishes are good, some leaning towards great. I agree with illjill, re the Brussels sprouts dish...ugghhh We really miss the dining room ( Amaya the Indian room). While this food is nicely packaged for take home consumption,... More

Took "Sharma jee ki Chaat", thought it would be special. Turned out to be my worst decision. The place is costly and serves below average food. No taste, no authentic taste. No aalu in the entire plate, I will recommend eat burgers rather than trying this one out.

Very disappointed with the food and the menu. Quality and quantity is not the worth pricing. It's a rip off. Will never order from here again. Butter chicken tastes like Campbell's tomato soup with little pieces of chicken. Lamb biryani lacked the lamb. Had only a cpl pieces of lamb in it. Everything comes with little meat but lots of... Our meal was great, aside from the brussel sprout/ mushroom dish (with from-frozen brussel sprouts and canned mushrooms) which was horrible. We got the meal for 2 with extra naan and fed 4 adults.

This is easily the best most authentic (and not to mention best value) Indian in the neighbourhood. Do not be fooled by the underwhelming decor. You'll get fantastic, spicy curries without having to ask them to make it spicy (a personal pet peeve of mine as someone who's enjoyed indian food in India). Try it, you will not regret it.... More

Excellent food. They call it express but there is nothing fast food about it except that it is not as large a menu that you would get at a full scale restaurant.

This place is good if you are looking for fast Indian. It is counter service with a sit down section, the menu is simplified as it is the express version of the regular restaurant.

Great service, great food, great price. Couldn't ask for anything more. Definitely recommend trying. This place isn't for a person that cannot handle or hates spicy foods. I had the lamb shank Korma and although it didn't mention spicy, it left a slight spicy feeling in your mouth.

Hoping to have an authentic Indian dish, ordered the Chicken Tikka and Samosa Chaat, chicken not fresh and definitely not authentic, more like KFC, chat was Ok, not much filling in the samosa , I have tasted better. I had assumed given the long lineup the food would have been worth waiting for, what a disappointment.!!

I had the pleasure of dining at the Amaya Indian in Toronto. The food was excellent and the wide variety on the menu was amazing. I enjoyed the chat with the staff, who were on top form. I was there with Irene and cousins, Elaine and Frank, so the whole thing was an excellent experience. I fully recommend any one... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
