ordered sea food pasta with white wine sauce ,it was the best pasta I ever had. My friend ordered salmon and she loved it. good service and fair price.
Had an amazing night with tasty food and wonderful customer service. The pizza is something else and the tiramisu is delicious every single time
i ordered veal chop with salad and my partner ordered pizza,e both enjoyed. restaurant was quiet busy but kitchen was fast .
it was fantastic.from a to z .our server was really a nice young girl,we were a group of 10,we ordered almost everything on the menu, everyone so happy.
The restaurant looks better than the food offerings. We had salads and two pasta offerings. All were rather bland. No exciting taste.
Lousy food, coffee not drinkable, dirty chairs, server even had the nerve to ask for a tip ! :) poor quality wine. If you cant improve, then shut down. Stay well away from the place.
This resto has been around a long time and has gone through some not so good times so we always forget about Il Fornaro (not to be confused with Il Fornello) in our neighbourhood. However, went for dinner this evening and enjoyed our meal immensely....My husband swears their Americano pizza is the best in the city. Thin crust and beautifully cooked with lots of flavour. I had the veal limone which was very tender, beautifully flavoured with terrific vegetables. Prices are reasonable. We enjoyed it more than many higher priced restaurants in the city.More
We were looking for good quality resto in Avenue road village-with wood oven pizza. Saw billboard over their own doorway that says" wood oven pizza"..so we paid to park and went in for dinner. Upon entry-saw the brick over/presumably for pizza. Also saw their business...card-that promotes wood oven pizza. Also saw their framed retro poster in the resto that promotes authentic wood oven pizza since 1959. So, we made our dinner order for pizza and salad, among other dishes ..and ..to our surprise-it was not. The new, kind waiter uncomfortably explained they do not make them at all/for past 2 years..or more. By this time- we were starved and accepted what they offered, while asking to speak with the Owner/manager on staff. We waited- but where then told 10 min later that he was actually making pizza in the kitchen /too busy to come out to great us. We completed our meal, paid the waiter with a fair tip for his service- but explained we really had wanted to give timely feedback to the Owner. So we then took the time to call the next day. The owner came to phone/was not open to feedback/was indifferent, arrogant and unwilling to admit that both his advertising + in-store communications are trading on a promise he no longer keeps/has not offered in years! On top of this- his own current website promotes PHOTO of wood oven pizza and "stone baked" terminology.. Sadly- he did not explain WHY and did not offer any positive solution to our very misleading dining experience and investment. To any good customer, this is clearly wrong and insufficient and a serious breach of transparency. I am the Owner of a long-time Marketing and Communications firm as well as a past service/hospitality/high end resto employee-so I am clearly speaking with a good and fair perspective. I've eaten in over 20 countries to date and have never experienced this.. Sincerity and accountability are important-but lacking here-big time..More
We ate at II Forano this weekend and were far from impressed with the food. Salads were void of flavor and the pasta was mediocre at best. The tomato sauce was bland and lacked any flavor. The salmon was a large portion but over cooked....Very disappointed in the food. The place had 2 other couples and was otherwise as boring as the food it served. Would not go back and certainly not worth the prices being charged for the food. The desserts were equally as bad .... Tiramisu tasted like a sponge cake .... no espresso flavor or even coffee flavor at all ...... Not worth your money stay away ......More
When we arrived we noticed that the restaurant was not busy? We were seated promptly however waited a long time until the waiter brought us water and asked if we wanted anything to drink. Considering the restaurant was not full, the service was extremely slow....We ordered appetizers which took 40 minutes to arrive at the table! The grilled calamari appetizer was good, but the menu said it was served on a bed of greens and it wasn't. The arugula salad was plentiful and tasty. We ordered the veal "al limone" which was good, but the accompanying pasta was in a not so good tomato sauce. The veal parmesan was tough and leathery. The service was slow and the waiter seemed disinterested. The ambiance was nothing great. The fact that the restaurant was not busy was advantageous to us, because the noise level was very manageable and we were able to hear across the table (whereas, in most popular Italian restaurants in the area, the noise level is almost unbearably loud!) We likely would not return to this place!More
First time coming to Il Fornaro and it was pretty good. We had the white pizza, which was really good, the calamari was okay and we also had the lobster linguini with mussels and scallops, it was good but felt that could've been better. Service...was good. Expected a little more from the food but hey maybe next time.More
Typically we go to Il Fornaro for the pizza, which is certainly the best in the neighbourhood. A great selection of toppings will make anyone happy.
There wasn't anything terrible about our experience, but it certainly wasn't memorable anything memorable and we left feeling slightly disappointed. The service was bland, our server had zero personality. We ordered their specialty salad (with avocado) for $12 and it was so disappointing. The saddest...looking salad with very little avocado and toppings, as well as wilty lettuce. The pasta dish and the pizza were tasty but didn't blow us away. The restaurant is lacking something, including personality.More
Food took 1.5 hours after ordering pizza that was cold. Wood burning oven was broken so they had to cook it in their kitchen oven. My pizza was luke warm and inedible. The owner Nancy refused to speak with us about the poor food quality...nor offered another dish. She refused to give her name , saying "non of your business" she replied. The waiters argued with each other among the customers. Save your money , buy a frozen pizza and cook it yourself with less aggravation. We were told to leave the resturant. The previous owners would been embarrassed.More
