My friend phoned to remind me of our 25 years of friendship that had been highlighted by a trip to Italy! To celebrate we headed for an Italian Restaurant having chosen ENOTECA SOCIALE that boasts "Roman Cuisine". Reservations were made for a Friday night, parking was about a 5 minute walk from the car park. We were early for our... More

Lots of flavour, varied menu accommodates varied Italian food tastes. Excellent beet salad, tortelli stuffed with sweet squash wad a small light entrée but very flavourful. Others always order arancini, tuna, beef crisp, bucatini, and barolo matto and are never disappointed. Aleays share s rich sticky toffee pudding. Server Nola very helpful with wine selection.

Really enjoyed a recent dinner with a friend at Enoteca Sociale! Even at 8pm it was busy but we managed to get a seat at the bar. Service from the bartender was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. Food did not disappoint - I had the rigatoni with braised beef cheeks, my friend had the tomato bucatini. Pasta was delicious... More

We recently had dinner at the bar. The interior is rather fussy in a cozy basement/seventies steakhouse kinda way, working its own magic. Our server/bartender was attentive and friendly. He did forget to place the order for the chicken liver starter we ordered, but we were also not charged for it. We both ordered pasta dishes, and they were excellent.... More

By mistake found this gem of a neighborhood restaurant while looking for a different one. The wine and charcuterie plate were Devine. The arancini and sauce was the best I've ever had. Came for drinks and stayed for dinner. This charming restaurant tucked away on Dundas St W is well-worth the Uber ride.

We'd been meaning to visit this restaurant for some time and were not disappointed when we finally made it. My chicken liver mouse starter was fabulous and my husband raved about his tuna appetizer. For an entree I chose the fish and my husband had the French hen and both were outstanding. The toffee pudding was worth the calories. Although... More

The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff are warm and inviting. And the food: simply delish! Where in Toronto can you find all three?! This place is a gem.

Read about the restaurant on Air Canada in the inflight magazine. The read the reviews on TA and had to try it. The wine list is phenomenal with so many obscure, but awesome, small run selections from all over Italy. The food really is like being in a Tuscan village, the service was outstanding and the price tag was more... More

We visited with friends who live in this neighbourhood of Little Portugal. Their slogan, a taste of Rome, reflects a family - style Italian fare of fresh pasta, local ingredients and a small, friendly room and patio. Our friends say it is a neighbourhood treasure.

Treat yourself to excellent food and wine at this casual restaurant in west end Toronto. Great atmosphere and if it is a beautiful evening request a seat under the Mophead Maples on the patio.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
