Chef Kris did it again! So much talent and creativity. We just came back from a five week trip to France and Barcelona and we did not miss our great dinners in Europe last evening. Not only does Leah offer exceptional service, she knows her wines and can recommend the one that will carry you throughout your meal. We just... More

My partner and I are regulars at Enoteca Sociale. The service (Thanks Leah!) is amazing and the food absolutely amazing! It's an added bonus that everything is so reasonably priced! We brought my family there last night and again never a disappointment! If your looking for good Italian in the city, this is the place to go!

My boyfriend and I visited Enoteca Sociale later on a Friday night for a good bottle of red wine and some Italian munchies. We were not disappointed. It's a small restaurant, but full of personality. The wine list was large, with lots of options. We ordered the charcuterie board, a cheese selection and the arancini balls with our wine. Everything... More

When I drove by at first I thought the outside very unassuming to the point I wasn't sure it was open. So glad I parked and walked in. Was greeted very quickly and led to my table. Our server was lovely, very knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. Menu is small but had something for everyone. Servings were not... More

First a little background. My partner is Italian and I am French. We have traveled extensively in Italy, and France, and brag about being foodies. We were invited by two friends to dine last Saturday evening at Enoteca Sociale (ES) where we were served a five course tasting menu created by Kris Schlotzhauer, the Chef Di Cucina. The evening began... More

We were a group of 4 and had made reservations ahead of time. Atmosphere is great - rustic, dimly lit and lots of overall charm. We started out with the cheese and charcuterie platter and loved the variety of delicious cheese. Entrees we were all pleased with. I had the gnocchi and found it to be so soft and fresh,... More

Had a wonderful time with friends. Food was great and so was the service. The rice balls are delicious. Bread and olive olive fresh. The trout on beans was my favourite. Sheep milk spaghetti with black pepper was also terrific. Clam pasta hit a good amount of heat. Great selection of wines. Most on the expensive side.

We were a group of six who reserved an early table (5.30 PM) and settled in for a relaxing and very enjoyable night out. Reservations are highly recommended and I am guessing even moreso on a Saturday night. Walk-ins seemed to be waiting a while for a table. Even so, we never were rushed by staff and even when I... When this restaurant was called Centro, I had several bad dining experiences where the serving staff were incredibly arrogant and snotty, and had vowed never to return. Since the restaurant re-branded itself (same ownership I understand) and since it received relatively good reviews in the local media I thought it might be time to try it again. After going to... Went to Enoteca Sociale for a quiet birthday dinner with my wife. Overall, it was OK but it was nothing overly memorable. Service was very good, but food (the mains in particular) were very slow to come out. Especially for pasta. The salumi plate was boring (everything tasted the same). The arancini and beet salad were both quite tasty. The... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
