You have to start by asking if they have any Diet Vernors. They don't have any as DIET Vernors -- unavailable for years in Canada -- but you have to ask anyway. An institution like Pancer's is a little steeped in little traditions like this. I always order an extra dill pickle. On Saturday we started with a knish and a cabbage roll to share. We all had sandwiches on rye ("with kimmel?" and the correct answer is "yes"). I asked about Montreal smoked meat and was recommended not to go there, it being Toronto we were having lunch in, not Montreal. Go for the pastrami with extra spice. One of our group had the chopped liver and was very happy. Several others had the "baby beef" (i.e. veal). More dill pickles were ordered. It was great!

I have been eating Pancer's Deli for over 50 years.
Stan passed down a recipe for success! The family run Deli makes you feel like Toronto is still a small community.
The food is outstanding; Pastrami or a Corned Beef Sandwich on Rye with Mustard, a Kosher Dill Pickle, & Potato Salad...the ideal deli meal!! Parking is limited so choose your timing accordingly.

i was visiting Toronto and someone planted the seed for having a great smoked meat sandwich so my friend suggested Pancer's. It was exactly what I was looking for. My sandwich was great and the pickles were delicious. A great unpretentious lunch. Highly recommended.

This was within walking distance of where we were staying, and we were craving matzo ball soup and some smoked meats. It was ok. The service was lackluster and I believe it is because two servers were dealing with a packed dining area in a cramped restaurant. Could have been were we got COVID but I'm not pointing fingers. It was just so mediocre. Wolfie's and Dave's would have been better choices had we had wheels.

Since I moved from Toronto 30 years ago I always come to Pancers when I visit. This time in I found out that they no longer make fricassee. A terrible tragedy. Seven years ago I was given hints as to how to make the Pancers pastrami (by far the best on the planet).
I would love to find the recipe for Pancers fricassee and share it with my friends in Winnipeg who have never heard of such a dish. A bucket list item in my opinion.
Growing up in Toronto and playing BB baseball at Clanton Park. After the game going to Pancers and start off with a sumptuous bowl of fricassee followed by the most delicious pastrami sandwich ever (a little extra spice please). Life was perfect.

I loved their corned beef, it was juicy and tasted great. I met their cashier called Sajeef, he was such a friendly guy to speak to over there. I must say he can crack some pretty good jokes. His smile can make you smile. I would love to visit this place again to try out some of their other dishes

I spent my youth going to Pancer’s deli, I moved east about a one hour away. I recently found myself at my old haunt, I had forgotten how marvellous it was, the menu is complete. Everything was extensive and the staff could not have been nicer. It was clean with a warm atmosphere and they had a beautiful sign clearly stating that “Bullying will not be tolerated”. This feature alone made me feel safe and welcome.
I used to go to another deli that was closer however, I prefer the corned beef and their chicken noodle soup with a matzo. Once a month I drive in to North York and I anxiously await my next visit to try the numerous choices available to me.

Haven’t been here for many years. I tried them again a few weeks ago. Very yummy. However, today, June 14, I ordered a baby beef sandwich and a Kishka to go. I was hoping to have the sandwich for lunch and the Kishka for dinner. But the sandwich was so bad I couldn’t eat it and had to eat the Kishka for lunch. I never realize that baby beef liver could have so much fat. There was even a few big chunks of fat. Even the part that was meat was very dry. Very disappointing. I guess I will go back to centre Street deli. The sandwich was $17 plus tax. What a waste.

Love the Pastrami here. Ordered regular but would order the lean next time. The latkes were have burnt and tasteless. French fries are also tasteless. While I love this place they should pay a little more attention to detail. Sometimes with success, you become complacent.

Went on a Saturday and was seated right away. The waitress Michelle was outstanding, very polite and friendly. Got the Corn Beef Lean Combo. It was served quick and fresh. Fries crispy, but not greasy and I could barely fit my mouth around the sandwich.
Still a very good place to get authentic Deli Corn Beef.
Will be back

My grandparents were friends with the owners and we went to Pancer’s old location regularly, back in the ‘60’s & 70’s.
Fast forward, many years later. I live out of town and decided to go for a soup and sandwich.
While there’s not much ambiance, the food is still excellent.
The best part of my experience though was my server. I hope I get her name correct. I believe it is Christine.
She was attentive, friendly, professional and appeared to anticipate our needs before we asked.
A class act in our books!
She deserves a raise!

This is easy. Simply the best old fashioned style Toronto Deli. It might in fact be the only one left so we only hope it never closes. Outstanding corned beef and pastrami. Best kishka with a mouthwatering gravy! Love the cabbage borscht too. It’s a Toronto icon.

Been there many of times but today that was the best Montreal smoked meat sandwich I’ve had in 30 years equal to or better than Rue Saint Catherine’s Montreal!
