We stopped here for a 2 p.m. lunch with our daughter, and it took the crack team here nearly 15 minutes to decide who was going to help us. 3 servers and a manager for an empty room, and it took this long? Service didn't speed up much throughout the course of the meal, and as other diners cited, it... More

We stopped at the Carousel Cafe for some light snacks and drinks while on Centre Island. The inside of the place seemed a bit dirty, so thankfully we were seated outside, though struggled to find shade in the hot Toronto summer. The servers seemed a little lazy at times, delivering the bare minimum of service – it was clear these... More

Food quality is quite expected for a cafe on a island created more for family outings and with an amusement park...nothing special and just average. Waiting service was courteous and prompt. Price is a little on the high side.

Beautiful day on Toronto island. Despite weather forecast, big sunshine and no rain to come the whole afternoon. We want to enjoy being outdoors before the weather changes in Toronto. But inflexible staff at the carousel did not let us sit on their terrace for drinks or food! So much for customer service. Hard to accept such stubborn attitude and... More

My family and I walked in and saw about 4 different servers walking around but not doing much because almost every table inside was empty. There were a few people on the patio and that was it. The sign at the door said "Please Wait To Be Seated" so we waited and waited and waited. No one came to seat... More

What can you expect from a place like this, average food, average service but the beer is nice and cold. Add some fries or chicken wings and you can not go wrong, anything else then "I would stay away from". I should be happy to find some nice cold beer in the middle of a very large park, so I... More

My husband, son and I decided to have lunch here- being on Centre Island, we figured that it would be kid-friendly. Please beware that its not. After waiting in a line with other parents with strollers we were assured that we would be seated soon, and lucky for us where we wanted to sit they allowed strollers. (Please note, there... More

My family and I were most impressed by the quality of the food and the outstanding service when we dropped by the Carousel Cafe during our visit to Centre Island. There were five adults in our group and one toddler and everyone enjoyed a tasty lunch on the outdoor patio. Our dishes included linguini, a hamburger, smoked chicken sandwich and... More

I will be honest, my hopes were not high for the Carousel Cafe. It is the only restaurant near a kitchy amusement park and popular family destination. It could honestly be pretty mediocre and still draw a lot of traffic. Usually my family brings our own food when visiting the Island, but on a visit last year, we forget. We... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
