We were already fans of this place (awesome food, good drinks, great patio) before we came here for St Pattys. The place was crazy but the staff went above and beyond. They were kind, patient and even shared their pizza with us because they knew...my friend and I were hungry waiting for a table. We will be back!More

We stopped at this restaurant on Aug 30, 2020 for lunch. And at first were met by a young lady server, who insisted we have to wear masks, even though we wanted to seat on a patio. I explained we are exempt, but she was...rude and left. So when i was ready to leave, my husband suggested we talk to a manager. So A beautiful young lady by name Kyra came to talk to us. After we explained the incident she made us feel very comfortable and we had a great lunch. Food is very delicious, and Kyra made our day. So I hope the owner will read this review and teach their staff to be as Kyra and learn how to talk to people. So to Kyra a huge thank you.More

This is the place to go when you just want a neighbourhood pub. No snobs here and the staff is friendly. Live music on some evenings and good food specials.

Popular neighborhood restaurant with good pub food, well prepared and presented. Served promptly by friendly servers. This large restaurant has lots of seating...booths, hi-tops and bar seating. Clean and very well run and perfect for families, couples. We had crab cakes appetizer. Two delicious medium...sized crab cakes, topped with a dollop of creamy mayo or aioli type sauce, served on a red pepper purée and a mound of excellent red cabbage slaw. Perfect burger and excellent hot fries, bacon and eggs with home fries, all generous portions and very well prepared. Limited free parking available...definitely worth a visit to this restaurant!More

We live across the street and are here a couple of times per month. Service is always friendly and efficient. Great selection of beers, local and international. Food is always delicious and high quality. Worth the trip to Etobicoke.

Met up with friends Friday night for dinner. We were craving pub food and wanted to stay in the neighbourhood. There’s only one place. St. James Gate. We all had pints and shared their amazing nachos. Love their chips. I always have the meatloaf served...with mashed potatoes, red cabbage and 3 onion rings. Heaven. Burgers and the fish n chips are also highly recommended. Band comes out later at night. Staff are friendly and the place is great for families with kids too. I like the booths. Will be back for next craving.More

We happened upon the St James Gate while returning from a TFC Game. We remembered the building when it was Millers Country Fare which we loved but we saw that it was now an Irish Pub, so we thought we would give it a try....Boy, are we ever glad we did! The place is amazing. From the friendly staff to the authentic Irish Pub feeling you get when you walk in we were thoroughly satisfied with every aspect of the experience. I opted for the daily special which happened to be one of my favourites Baby Back Ribs (full rack). My Wife had the Chicken Pot Pie which she said was absolutely delicious, with lots of chicken (white meat) and a delicious gravy in a light pie crust served with lovely mashed potatoes. The Ribs fell off the bone and were really juicy and tender with an awesome Guinness based sauce Mmmmm. The chips were done perfectly and the tangy ColeSlaw rounded out this feast. Of course, the litmus test of any Irish Pub is the mandatory Pint of Guinness and mine was amazing. I was very impressed with the food, the ambience and the decor. We will certainly be returning to this new gem we have found in the Bloor Dundas corridor.More

We enjoyed the Eggs Benedict, Bacon and Eggs and Veggie Burger. The service was excellent, the food was tasty and plentiful. Despite getting busier as we were there, we felt comfortable chatting after finishing our meals. We will be back!

As several other posters have mentioned, we found the service to be quite slow considering there were only a few tables when our group of 6 arrived. We all enjoyed the food however. Several of us were seniors and were able to order the 'kids'...breakfast (one egg, bacon, toast).More

What more can you ask for? Parking, of course. It's in the front and at the rear. Free spots are limited but lots of metered pay parking if you need it. It's a former family restaurant that was converted to an Irish pub with all...the homey touches of a pub but in a larger setting than you might be used to in a pub. The food is exceptional for a pub and fish & chips is their most popular dish but one should also explore the menu and try other offerings. I don't know for sure but I have a feeling they have an actual trained chef in the kitchen based on the creative dishes and quality of food. Let's not forget the wide variety of libations, something for every taste. The staff are friendly and conscientious and many are longtime employees as they seem to truly enjoy working there. Also live entertainment most weekends. Great place for lunch during the daytime, not too busy. How can you go wrong?More

We visit this pub regularly and the food is always great. They do a terrific job at keeping the menu fresh while keeping the crowd favourites. The staff are always warm and inviting too! The last 3 visits we have noticed a considerable slide in...wait times though; last night being the longest wait. My wife ordered the special (should be almost ready to go), I got a pot pie which would be prepared in advance and quick to the window, the kids had items from the grill. By all accounts a quick ticket - we waited well over an hour. Always a bit challenging with little ones but also surprising as the pub was not that busy when we arrived. We’ll likely go again in the hopes that service improves - not sure what happened but hope management takes note and can get back to the great service levels we experienced in the past.More
