I have been their customer for years and this was the first time I was very disappointed. We ordered a mutton masala and they gave us 2-3 days old food and the quantity was not even for one person. I guess they don't care about...anything anymore. The waitress didn't even come asking for anything. Now I cannot recommend it to anyone.More
Great South Indian food. Nearly perfect. We ordered dosa, fish fry, puri, mutton sukka and idlies. The sukka masala was good but not like a typical intense sukka style. King fish fry was excellent with right amount of spices. Dosa was salty. Great ambiance and...good service.More
chicken Hyderabad biryani is the best in the town, The appertizer are amazing chichen 65, mutton do payiza so tasty
Ordered take out. Not only was the food cold, it wasn't fresh tasting. I couldn't even eat it. It seemed like they were recooking yesterday's left-overs. I've eaten there many times in the past, and each time it seems to get worse. Maybe it's new...management or they are cutting corners trying to save money. As a south Indian, i want to support my people, unfortunately this was the last chance and again so disappointed.More
We ordered out very recently. The butter chicken was very good, but the few pieces of chicken were drowned by the sauce in the container. Also ordered rice and noodles - again they tasted great but the portions were extremely small for the price.
The appetizers are amazing. Their Tandoori Chicken is the best l have had. l found the currys too watery and not thick and creamy. Too bad that they don't do a Lamb Madras.
The lunch buffet has so much to offer at a very reasonable price, they will come to your table with fresh dosa also, they keep refilling the food, so always very fresh...a must try!!
Came with family for Mother’s Day with reservation. Food was very good, according to other members of my family, it was better than previous times. Unfortunately, I couldn’t say How the food was. my chapatis came at same time as everyone’s dosa. My chicken which...I was to eat with the chapatis came 1 hr later when everyone was finished and my chapatis were cold. I told them to pack it up since i wasn’t going to eat with 9 people sitting waiting. They did. Surprisingly, they did not adjust the bill to remove the chicken!! I didn’t fight it because it may have taken another hour. Advice. Don’t order anything other than the dosa unless you have 2-3 hrs to spare! But the food IS definitely good.More
I found the food to be good and tasty. The chutneys are very flavourful and delicious. The chilli paneer was very yummy. I found the service was lacking as I had to put my hand up and wave EVERY time. I would have liked them...to be more attentive to me and my needs.More
I was very pleased to see this high quality top notch South Indian restaurant. It is easily the best SOUTH Indian restaurant I have visited in GTA. Great spread for lunch buffet. Choices for Thali as stand alone dishes are great. Loved the place. Will...visit again.More
Happened to visit yesterday, been here a few times since they opened and have noticed decline in quality the last trip I made. Decided to make a trip in spite of a so so experience, but I guess it will be no more trips here...henceforth. First off, reservations were made, we were on time yet had to wait for 15 min to secure a table. Ok they were busy, then after being seated, had to wait for another 30 min and then eventually we had to walk up to the wait staff to come and take our order. We place the order, another 20-30 min wait and lo and behold the appetizers and the entrees save one order all come together... average food ... and we notice one of the diner ‘s order hadn’t made and no mention or check in by the waitstaff... again we flag the waitstaff and enquire about missing order... which eventually appears when the rest of us are done eating... Bill comes and notice they had overcharged us by about 30$.... after we get home.. answering machine is blinking on a missed call.. restaurant staff had called with no voice message... that’s when I check the bill paid by my partner and notice the over charge, putting two and two together... I call back... then we had to drive back to reclaim our money in cash... no more visits that is for sure... Oh by the way their website misleads about a promo that happens once a year in January - two can dine as it still is on... being regulars I knew that they have to redo their website to reflect that... Overall terrible service, poorly trained staff and sub par food!!!!More
Another good place bites the dust. When I’ve been somewhere numerous times & am familiar with the food, it’s a disappointment when a server insists that I’m mistaken. The buffet used to be absolutely amazing, but the last few times, it has really dropped. Unimaginative,...watery curries, if you’re a vegetarian, you’re out of luck, & the buffet price is not worth it. An order of pakora arrived, all crumbs, & when I asked what happened, I was told that’s how it always is. Uh, no it’s not. The tables are far too close together, service is spotty, & if you don’t order drinks, you’ll wait a long time for refills of water. There are too many really good places for Indian food to waste anymore money here.More
Food sounds exotic when you have masala like tamarind, fennel seed, cinnamon, peppercorn, fenugreek, clove, bay leaf and star aniseed in your dish. And that exotic food is Chettinad cuisine when it's freshly ground and aromatic. Karaikudi restaurant offers Chettinad cuisine which is historically famous...for sun-dried meats, salted vegetables and rice-based dishes. Traditionally vegetarians, the Chettinad people of South India had non-vegetarian influences from Malabar coast and savoury recipes from as far as the Kingdom of Burma. The fine dining setting mimics the royal mansions of Chettinad with their heritage rosewood pillars and bamboo lattices. The aura settles in when you browse through their Kothu Roti and Biryani dishes. However the restaurant doesn't really offer authentic Chettinad cuisine. Chicken Kothu Roti was less on cumin and curry powder. Masala Tea wasn't brewed well so did not give the punch you need while digging into the spices of India. The saving grace was Egg Biryani that had flavours of minced chilli and ginger garlic. You can find traces of Northern India and China as their menu offers Chilli Gobi Dry (cauliflower florets fried with Indian Chinese spices), Channa Masala (Chickpeas' gravy) and Noodles. Marketing-wise they are smart as they have Mutton Vindaloo amongst others for attracting those alien to Indian cuisine. Rice pudding, an influence from Burma in Chettinad cuisine could not be found on the menu. The serving took so much time that we had it packed to-go. Overall the spices don't make you bloated and good if you are craving for an Indian meal. - SIDMore
