We were group of six and visited restaurant Moldava on Good Friday long weekend as per our friends’ advise. We were very skeptic first, when saw modest interior. However, food was great. It was very testy, big portions, and price was good as well. Me...and my husband ordered two halves of soup, one hot appetizer which we shared, two second’s and two beers. We could hardly finish all we ordered. All together with tips cost us $90. Also, I would like to mention that waiter was very polite and helpful. We are planning now to prefer this restaurant to all other in nearby area.More

We visited today after the new owners took the ownership. Food is a lot better and tastier now then before. There are new varieties of Georgians food and it's a welcomed addition. Highly recommend. Their hachipouri and hinkali are very delusious.

We used to visit this restaurant frequently. They have new owners, and our previous visit was already a pretty bad experience. We decided to give it another chance. Came to dine with my parents and daughter. Our experience: 1. The order took around 30 minutes...to arrive, despite the restaurant being basically empty. Water came room temperature. No free refills for coffee!!! 2. Prices are now higher and the portions smaller. 3. Food is much worse than it used to be. Out of 6 dishes we ordered only mamaliga was good. The rest ranged from below average to plain bad. 4. They automatically add 13% service to the bill. It is not clearly indicated on the bill, so I thought it's tax (which is "accidentally" also 13% in Ontario) and added tip on top of the 13%. There are some places that add automatic tip, but then they usually disable the tip option on the machine. I'm pretty sure this 13% is intentional to get people add tip on top of it. 5. The bill is written by hand and calculated manually!!! Congratulation Moldova! You have just lost another long term customer. Based on number of customers in the restaurant, I'm not alone. You can fool people only once.More

Food not perfect, but good enough. What we find very unpleasant is that prices higher than you can see in online menu and that did not ask you if you want or don't want to pay tips the just included extra 13% into your price...of each dish. They did not hide it - if you make some search you will find it in tiny font in very end of the menu. If you do not notice it you will pay tips twice. I find this trick disgusting, so I will never come back to this place.More

I haven't been in Moldova last few months. Now a see the menu is changed! I tried fish, lamb shish kebab - the food is really tasty!! Like a home-made in a good russian traditions. The meat was so fresh, medium cooked. The plates are...decorated so lovely (salads, main meal and all deserts) I think they also changed something in interior design (maybe lights?) I will definitely consider this place for the birthday party 😊More

If you are looking for a truly Eastern European experience, go here. And I do not just mean the food which is truly authentic. I mean the service too - it is slow and even though our group of 6 was the only group there...we constantly had to call the waitresses if we wanted anything as they were too busy doing more important stuff. Having said that, they were lovely too, so it it hard to be too harsh on them. The food is definitely cheap - $50 per person (including tax and tip) for appies, a main and a glass of wine. Later on in the evening a group of twenty men showed up, speaking Russian and Ukrainian, some dressed in Adidas track suits, drinking champagne with their perogies. Yes, this is the truly Eastern European experience! Oh, and skip the "not so dry" (waitresses' words) red wine (Mazania Valley) - it is horribly sweet.More

It used to be a good place, but it went down the hill. Service was always lousy, but the food was pretty good. Now the food is pretty average, and the service still pretty bad. Service very slow even when the place not busy. No...free refill for coffee (probably the only place in Toronto that doesn't offer free coffee refill). Orders often messed up. Lamb was over cooked. Veal not as it used to be. Prices are reasonable. Not recommended anymore.More

By recommendation of a friend we dined in Moldova restaurant, 5000 Dufferin Street. This is a simple and unpretentious restaurant with friendly staff serving Moldavian, Ukrainian, Russian and couple of Georgian and Armenian dishes. The food has homemade quality and is served by friendly and...pleasant staff, a quality which sometime is lacking in more “higher end” and expensive restaurants. We ordered Khinkali (Georgian dumplings), Lobio (Kidney bean salad), Eggplant Ikra, Cabbage roll, Baked rainbow trout and couple of other appetizer to share between us ( two couples). Generally all dishes were between average to good. If one likes to experience different national dishes this is a place to try. Since there is no rating between Average and Very Good I give it 3 star.( There should be a rating for GOOD, better than average but not VERY GOOD).More

The Bad well the waitress did not know that sour-cream in borscht soup is a big no no to a vegan The Ugly...well be prepared to wait a long long long time even to pay the bill But because the food was good I gave them 4 stars.More

Food and service was ok but missing that lovely Moldovan warmth. Food quantity was just ok. Sarmale (cabbage rolls) didn't come with any sides. They had no Moldovan beers available. It was disappointing, but there is a real lack of eastern European restaurants in the...city so you don't have many options.More

We been for few days in Toronto during the Thanksgiving (Canadian one). This great place was opened and ready for guests; Moldavian and Romanian people are always welcoming guests. The food was delicious, well cooked and on a creasy affordable price. No body rushed us,...the waiters payed a lot of attention to our requests and the ambience was great. If you are looking for a great teaste of food this will be a great choise!More

Someone suggested this restaurant in a little plaza on Dufferin St., south of Steeles Ave., W. So we decided to try it out. Simple decor, your placemat was the menu. Several different soup choices, we tried the borscht and a chicken/rice and spinach soup, both...were tasty. Given a basket of sliced white & dark rye bread. We tried the chicken schnitzel which was dipped in egg and fried (not the breaded version which we prefer). We also tried the cabbage rolls (3 rolls with sour cream) but did not come with any side dish. We shared a dessert blintzes , one filled with cottage cheese & one with cherries. However the blintze was fried probably on the grill & seemed to pick up the taste of whatever was last cooked (not a delicate blintze crepe). But the worst was no refill on the small cup of coffee. Not a normal practice in any restaurant we have dined in.More
