Superb restaurant - every aspect was spot on. We ended up here as our faves were all booked / given our experience I am surprised this place wasn’t full too… might be the prices which are definitely at the high end but you definitely get...a quality meal.More

Great at a price. Another excellent Toronto steakhouse. Very professional staff that is knowledgeable about the menu. I started with the steak tartare, the portion was on the large side and it was served in an onion ring, which made it interesting. I found it...good but not as much depth as the best tartare I’ve ever had,no complaints though. For a main, I had the A5 Miyazaka strip loin from Japan. While I have been to almost every top steakhouse in Europe and North America, I usually avoid the Wagyu for the larger steaks but wanted Wagyu/Kobe tonight. Thus, I can’t compare it but I found it a wonderful and decadent experience. The waiter did a great job explaining the difference between the Wagyu options, this one was 50% fat. He also persuaded me to order a smaller cut than I normally would and while the steak was incredible, he was right, 6oz was enough. I felt very full. Finally, don’t forget the cauliflower side. A great flavor, and the charring takes it to the next level. Hard for cauliflower to stand up next to a steak like I had, but it did.More

This was a five star experience from making the reservation to enjoying the meal to departing. Sarah the host is a true professional who knows what a great customer experience is. The servers were very professional and beyond attentive. The food was delicious - make...sure you order the Mac and Cheese as it is the best I have ever eaten. More than a few of us had steak but some had the half chicken which was moist and crispy on the outside which is quite a feat Although this dinner was expensive, it was worth it. We hope to go back in the new year but, if you have not been, you should go... go now!More

Food was good but diminished by service that was “artificial”; sommelier was cold and had his “regulars”. Felt rushed. Ambiance was nice and quiet.. only down was service.. everything else was good. Worth a try..

It was our wedding anniversary so I booked one of the top-rated restaurants in the city. We were greeted warmly at reception and seated. Unfortunately, we were seated in a corner booth with a huge column next to my wife who was less than thrilled...as it blocked most of her view of the restaurant. Beautiful surroundings and excellent piano music all night. I had emailed the restaurant earlier and asked if they had a dress code and if they enforced it as baseball caps and t-shirts in fine dining rooms are a pet peeve of mine. I was assured that they did but nevertheless, we saw one chap with a ball cap on and another wearing a hoodie. Their menu is widely published but it's not until the bill comes that you realize just how expensive it is: $32 for a bowl of soup. $8 for a tiny pot of horseradish. Wow. We were brought a couple of artichoke amuse-bouches which were wonderful. My steak was outstanding on taste but a tad rare for me. No worries. My wife's lobster gnocchi was very tasty and the portion was generous. The portion size of the sides was enormous - couldn't finish them. Service was very attentive and gracious. I was a little disappointed that we weren't comped a glass of wine or something for the occasion. Dinner for two with 2 glasses of bubbly, 2 glasses of house white, and 2 glasses of house red: $525.00 with tip. That's a first. Definitely a special occasion restaurant. I'm sure they'll continue to be successful.More

Service was fantastic minus the waiter trying to push the most expensive things on the menu but the steak was aggressively average and not even on my top 20 list of steaks and I payed $150 dollars for it.

After searching online reviews, I selected this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. I made reservations 3 weeks ahead of time as this place appeared to be very popular and due to limited seating with Covid restrictions. We were about 10 minutes early and were treated...promptly and warmly. We sat at the bar and each enjoyed a cocktail. Our table was ready on time. Peter was our server. What a wonderful gentleman and server. I would say he’s one of the best servers we have ever had in any restaurant thinking back the past 30 years. My wife had a strip loin and I had a tenderloin. We had one side order of garlic mashed and one order of corn and shishito. Each side order is suitable to be shared with two people especially if you order two sides to share between the two of you. I also did have the shrimp cocktail appetizer for myself. 3 extra large shrimp with wonderful, not too tangy cocktail sauce. The steaks came perfectly cooked to our preference. One of these days I will have to try the A5 Black or A5 Kobe, even if it’s just once! This is a high end restaurant/steakhouse but without any pretentious attitude from staff. You would fit in wearing something like nice jeans(without rips) and a collared shirt without runners or sneakers to a suit/dress or anything in between.More

If you want to impress a lady or your boyfriend, take them to Michael's on Simcoe, the beef selection is amazing. The staff is extremely polite and helpful, each staff takes seriously their work by explain each dish or origen of cut or best pairing...with each dish. Also the decoration is elegant with a twist of modern. Be ready to spend a few bills in here, but is all worth it.More

On Friday March 13th…a lucky day for a birthday…I took my two sons and my two best friends and their wives to Michaels on Simcoe. There were six of us all together as one of the wives couldn’t make it last minute. Michaels is very...beautiful and classy inside but the place was empty on a Friday night due to the virus outbreak with only one other table occupied. We ordered drinks which took quite a while to arrive…strange as the place was barren and 2 of the drinks were rum and coke and rye on the rocks…not exactly time consuming to make. They were out of the Fruit Punch cocktail…again puzzling as we wondered who drank it all when no one was here. When the drinks finally arrived he said the Highland Tart was a Margarita so after tasting we pointed out the error and they went back to be remade. Fortunately our actual waiter was much better and was well informed on the specials and with any questions we had. We ordered oysters…tuna crudo and branzino to start and all were very good. Chef prepared an amuse bouche for the table consisting of a prepared artichoke heart that was tasty and refreshing. For mains we had Surf & Turf…Scallops…Black Cod…6oz Miyazaki Strip…8oz Aussie Strip…4oz Miya Tenderloin and 4oz Hokkaida Tenderloin. Unfortunately they were out of the Hyogo Tenderloin I wanted. For sides there was bone marrow…Brussels sprouts…onion rings…mushrooms…garlic mash with onion top and bone marrow peppercorn sauce. Everyone loved the food and said it was the best steaks they’ve ever had. Service was very good with little extra touches like choosing from a variety of Japanese steak knives and taster glasses for beer. Crème brulee…cheesecake and a cookie plate with Happy Birthday on it completed the meal. I ordered a take out of the Bolognese and unfortunately when I tried it at home it tasted like a can of salt had been poured on it. Quite disappointed it didn’t live up to the standard of the other preparations. Michaels is very pricey…even for a high end restaurant…so if you charge ultra top end prices EVERYTHING should be perfect…especially given it was such a slow night. I deducted points for the slow, inaccurate bar service…being out of drink and menu items and the terribly over-salted pasta. (our waiter also broke a glass on the table causing the branzino to be thrown out and redone but accidents happen) Overall it was a very good experience with great atmosphere and I would recommend it for a special night out.More

Same poor review , waiters and service terrible but good food, ignored by staff and poor arrogant attitude, kept waiting and slow between services, one waiter (tall gentlemen) when refusing a free appetiser stated ‘well someone will have it’ he left the wine for a...long period before pouring (it was rose!) Strange table service on how food and wine was served. Sommelier was rude in so far that he served one table all night , when leaving he offered a free drink which was too little and too late , hence we left without desertMore

Friday night dinner before a show. My wife and I had the five course dinner offered through Groupon (53% off) recommended. The staff worked very well together, overall our service was excellent. The wine list was extensive, something for everyone. I had the striploin, very...good. My wife had the pan-seared Branzino plate which I should have ordered, as they really got it right with that dish, it was outstanding. The starter Amuse-bouche and the desert white chocolate cheesecake were also excellent. The personalized service we received from our server was greatly appreciated.More

We visited this establishment on a weekend getaway to visit our son who is attending University there. We were having a nice evening until the moment we were paying our bill....we shared with the waiter, whose name is Peter, that our son was doing his...PHD, and his reply was "well I guess he will be a good UBER driver with that"...... Wow......never felt so disrespected and insulted in our lives...THAT coming from a waiter. We confronted him about this insult, the management was made aware......they offered us a drink at the bar, which we promptly refused. We had already tipped on the bill generously before this extremely rude comment, SO wish we could take that tip back.... Will never return, as that waiter was so full of himself, insulting and the management did not handled it the way they should, in our opinion.More

People were dressed very nicely. I don’t believe men wore sport jackets but definitely more up-scale, at least when we were there. I would say business casual - country club casual?
