First time there, hoping to put an exquisite finishing touch to a pleasure watching theatre performance at Royal Alex. The experience was traumatic – for pocket, for taste buds and for sense of entertainment. I do not complain about price of meal – we were prepared to spend money there especially that I was treated by friend for dinner (or... More

It's my first time here and I had never heard of this place before. Upon entrance I am immediately impressed by the ambience, decor and lighting. We were greeted by the hostess and our waiter answered any questions we had. To start off while we waited for out food to arrive we had fresh water, bread and olives to chose... More

Only two issues to share. Salt is not a flavour. With such a nice product, someone needs to remove the salt shakers from the kitchen staff. and secondly, if you know your wine prices, do not look at the menu. When an under $19 bottle of wine sits on your wine list at $70 it casts a bad shadow on... More

Four of us went to Michael's on Simcoe during Winterlicious. We really liked the main menu choice options but all four opted for the steak. We all decided that the steak was delicious and done exactly as ordered. Of the four appetizers, the deep fried artichokes was delicious. The mushroom soup was nothing special. We all agreed the California Cut... More

We attended Michael's for dinner during Winterlicious. Now, I'm of the opinion that a restaurant should give of their best food and service during Winterlicious, as many new patrons will be attending during this time and impressive food and service may entice them back for more of the same at regular prices. Apart from the New York steak, which my... More

Went there with my wife before the theatre and the place was pretty much empty. Wait staff were polite and helpful and noted our time constraint. Extensive wine list was impressive but very pricey. Food was ordered and brought out in good time and was delicious. We shared a Caesar salad and a shrimp cocktail. They were plated for each... More

Owner is a complete jerk. Party of 10 people with a reservation at 9 pm. Ate dinner 3 hours later. Owner didn't even come to apologize- instead told us that it's too bad we had to wait.

This is the restaurant if you want a great / perfect steak. My steak was absolutely incredible and out of this world. It was cooked to perfection. Mouthwatering! There are no other words to describe it. The service was incredible as well. This would have been a perfect 5 but for the fact that the restaurant is quite pricey and... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
