While staying in this area (which is known for it's coffee options) I stumbled upon the VooDoo... Lots of those kids either reading, writing and/or on their computers.... 'A Latt'e says I, with a Bagel and Cream Cheese. I am offered either the 'Nutty' bean of the day or the more 'Fruity' option.... Nutty it is... I thought I knew... More

This was a recommendation from our son who lives nearby. We were exploring the local area and dropped in for Cappuccino, Americano and something fresh from the bakery case. Well prepared and nicely presented at a reasonable price. Given that it is darkly decorated and gives a pub-ish first impression, I am not sure we would have chosen this place... More

This place is the real deal. The best service I think I have ever had in a coffee shop, super nice, knowledgeable and good stuff. There espresso was top notch and there was an element of choice! The shop was cool and full of people so you know it's good. I want more, now!

We enjoyed a couple of lattes here which were good. We also smashed down an almond croissant which was quite nice. The vibe in the cafe is relaxed and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and were kind enough to allow us to use their phone and dial our airline to enquire about our flights.

Voodoo child cafe is within walking distance from my sons place in Toronto. It's worth the half hour exercise to have a great coffee. I try and visit whenever I am in Toronto. Coffee snob from White Rock.

No nonsense, non pretentious, seriously great tasting coffee - we thankfully stumbled upon VoodooChild when trying to escape commercial/retail Toronto (continue west on College into Little Italy) and Starbucks/Second Cup outlets, looking for a proper coffee. Absolutely worth the journey for outstanding coffee (add bourbon if you so wish) and good music (Ratatat - when we got there) or just... More

This was THE BEST brunch spot in Toronto, and unfortunately they are no longer serving brunch, which just breaks my heart. Regardless, it's an excellent coffee shop with great service.

Although this little cafe is best known for it's award-winning barista, I want to speak up on behalf of tea lovers--they do a great job at tea, too! Selection and price are both nice. My fave is a chai tea latte with almond milk. Recently they've expanded evening hours and added a bourbon cocktail menu, with funky names, I'm not... More

Executive Summary:- Pretentious, posh, pricey. Food - Overly complicated (pretentious), with 3 options on the menu and a variety of unnecessarily complex words you've never seen before. The weird flavours don't mix well. Price - Expensive, don't expect to get change from a $20. Service - Average. Decor - Not many seats, a little crammed in. Coffee - No refills.... More

The café is a nice little gem on College Street. We went there for coffee and cakes and both were really nice. So was the service and we felt very welcome. It seems like the place changes for the evenings for a cocktail place which also sounds really nice.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
