They have messed up my order on several take out occasions. Today they over charged me AGAIN and when I wanted to see the receipt they refused and tried to hide this. Then after I demanded the receipt they relunctantly provided but claim it as...honest mistake. I even left a tip at first to be nice but they just keep wanting to take advantage and scam customers, refusing to give the tip back too after I found out. I will stop supporting this place. They pretend to be nice and polite but it's all fake. Refusing to give me the receipt until I made a scene and just trying to get me to leave.More
Ive been wanting to try this place for months. I read so many good reviews. How can I go wrong? Well the food definitely wasn’t as good as most Indian restaurants Ive eaten at in my life (Toronto, UK, USA, Dubai). I ordered the goat...curry. The curry was very sweet tasting. I did ask for it to be spicy. There was very little meat. By this I mean about 90% bones. Again not what I’m used eating. The tandoori chicken didn’t taste like tandoori, it tasted like it was oven baked and then sprinkled with spices. The naan bread was huge, but not soft and didn’t taste freshly made. I was wondering how good the food would turn out since it was ready in less than 15 minutes. I’m not sure If I just caught them on a off day. Or all the people writing reviews don’t know what Indian food should taste like. Some people just don’t like spicy food so I guess sweet Indian curry is ok for them. The city is full of great Indian restaurants, you may have to travel to get better food but its worth it. I cant recommend this place to anyone at this point. I don’t know if I want to give it a second shot or not.More
My beloved and I were having an early dinner before heading to the theatre. The restaurant was constantly busy with take out orders, but the dining area was clean and elegant and the staff were very attentive (in a good way!). We shared onion bhajis...to begin, then we shared Chicken Korma and Chicken Biriani, with a Naan bread and a paratha. Everything was freshly made and delicious and the portions were more than adequate. We'll go back next time were going to a show in Scarborough.More
Vindaloo is local to my parents' house and so is a "go to" place when I visit Toronto. It is consistently good and tasty Indian food and I always enjoy dining here. Of note is that the serving sizes seem to have decreased since my...last visit, but it is still more than enough food. You won't leave hungry!More
The eastern end of Toronto is not exactly packed with good restaurants so when you find one, like this place, it makes everything worthwhile! As a hardcore foodie i sometimes feel I"m being punished for something I did because , for me, great food and...service are a starting point. You don't get my business because you're "ok" at that, any restaurant worth surviving should know people have options and eating at home (when you're a pretty darned good chef), is one of them so... don't screw around! So I am happy to give Raj full points for exquisite food and exemplary service. I spent years in Brampton surrounded by Indian eateries of every description and this place could compete with any of them. Yes there are places with more exotic decor but you pay for that, am I right? Highly recommended by me, "Mr. Picky".More
This was our first visit. Very nicely decorated inside. The food was wonderful and the prices were spot on. We had Butter Chicken, Chicken Curry and Chicken Korma, Chicken Pakora, Saffron Rice and garlic Naan. All were wonderful, very flavourful and good sized portions. Rice...and Naan ordered separately, as they do not come with each dish. Service was fast and friendly. Gluten free options available. I would recommend this restaurant.More
We came to this little restaurant during a one night stay on our way to Toronto and we had a fabolous dinner there. The restaurant is relatively small but has a very cozy atmosphere. We started with Indian spinach and a phenomenal dal soup (try...it, so good!), as main dish we had Chicken Korma and a Vegetarian plate. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted excellent. The waitress was very friendly and gave us explanations on different dishes and also on the grades of spiciness. If you like Indian food and spices, the Vindaloo is the place to be!More
The best Indian restaurant we have been to. We love this place. It’s come a long way. The service is excellent and the food to die for!
We were a party of 5 and were lucky to get a table in this busy place. We all had different food and every single dish was delicious. The kitchen was very efficient and we got our meals at once, served by friendly staff. We...warmly recommend this Restaurant.More
We went here for a family dinner celebrating a birthday. The establishment is small with limited seating. Although there were many positive reviews my expectations were not that high. This is a small restaurant in Scarborough so how good could it be. Well without a...doubt it was the best Indian Cuisine I have ever had. The service was delightful and the food fantastic. We had never been there before so we ordered several different items. Absolutely every dish was perfect. When the food arrived I was sure we would leave hungry. I could not have been more wrong. We were all very full and took some home with us. I will definitely be back and would have no concerns recommending this place to anybody.More
I ordered with SkipTheDishes, pakora, gulab jamun, rosemary na’an and a sweet & creamy vegetarian which I can’t remember the name of, and everything was absolutely amazing. The na’an was the best I’ve ever tasted, and the perfect balance of flavours in the vetarian dish...was delicious. The driver was very friendly as well. Will be ordering again!More
I want to start this review with a note that the owners tried to explain the food and were very kind. I’ve eaten many Indian dishes over the years (a few very, very good - both abroad and in Canada) so I’m confident to express...my opinion. We came here mid week, hoping to find another “hidden gem” as we haven’t found many wonderful Indian restaurants in the east end of Toronto and we had read the wonderful reviews. The place was empty, except for a few take out orders coming in to pick up or deliver. We ordered an appetizer plate first, then our meals of lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka Marsala. It started with a totally disappointing appetizer experience. I wish I had taken a picture, but the flattened, smooth golf-ball sized and shaped pakora (and after asking the waitress where my onion bhaji was as I didn’t recognize it on the plate. Found out they were there but were exact same shape, size, colour and texture of the pakora was that only way to tell the difference was to see green on the outside). These were definitely not the onion bhaji and pakoras I’ve known to love and enjoy. I was told they just make them different - oddly shaped like the frozen ones I’ve seen at Indian supermarkets. And the samosas? A nice taste but unfortunately filled with soft mashed potatoes vs. a nice textured filling. The menu said papadams but when I inquired about those missing off the appetizer plate too, I was told they don’t serve them anymore as people in the area wanted gluten free. And that totally had me flumixed. Papadams ARE gluten free. So I just asked them to package up the rest of our order for takeout as I was pretty certain the rest would be the same. Yes, I was disappointed. I will just finish this to say the rest of the food was mediocre. Both other meat dishes used heat vs having depth of flavor. I love heat, but it has to accompany the complex delicious flavours that Indian food is famous for. And this just didn’t have it. So for us, we didn’t find that hidden gem we were hoping to find. And price point? high - in my opinion for their offerings.More
Thanks for your comment, we will definitely work on it... I would like to express for your bad experience..
Have been going here since it has opened. Have not been able to find any Indian food that even comes close. It has totally wrecked average or good Indian food for me now. Highly recommend Vindaloo.
We went here during the mid week for dinner. It was very quiet only 3 people came in for take out, which was fine for us! The service was good and the dishes tasted great. At first I thought the portions (as pictured), were a...little small for the price but no, we were so full at the end. Next time I would like to see how their tandoori chicken tasted, but the butter chicken was good, dal, masala, rice& garlic naan. It's on Kingston Rd so it's busy and sometimes parking is tricky. Their free parking is in the back of the restaurant, so park there.More
