The food here was very good, but the service was even more memorable. The sommelier, Andrew, gave us an excellent wine recommendation and answered all of our questions. Checked in at another point during the meal and was extremely knowledgeable, then made an extraordinary cafe brulot at the end of our meal. He was great! Also highly recommend the baked... More

We were told we had to wait about 45 minutes, once we got there the place was packed, the food was great, the service was slow but I think it was because of the toronto light festival. The staff worked very hard, there was enough staff coming around. The price is a bit high, but we think its because of... More

Just discovered an amazingly good Bistro in the Distillery District. As you enter, everything looks great, neat and appealing! Once at your table, you will have had the opportunity to venture in front of the Semi-Open Kitchen, Oyster bar, bread bar and huge cellier. Food being the essence of a restaurant, we indulge at almost every item on the Brunch... More

Dined with a couple of friends. Decent service, good atmosphere, food was fairly good but not spectacular. Oysters were fresh, beef rib poutine was flavourful, asparagus frites were a bit bland and the sesame seeds coating overpowered the flavour of asparagus. Smoked salmon tartare and their version of fish, shrimps and chips was good. A bit of a wait between... More

My partner and I went to Cluny Bistro as part of their Winterlicious menu and we were absolutely blown away. We did the drink pairing with our menu and it was perfection. Great atmosphere, pretty casual despite the quality of the food and definitely a spot I will return to taste the full menu.

The prices are in US$. What is with that? Have eaten here and enjoyed it but would appreciate information in local values.

Hello RCeeEm, There may be some confusion here as I really don't understand why you think our prices are in US dollars? They are in fact in Canadian dollars. Were you told otherwise? Rik More

I seldom write negative reviews, but I was disappointed. Went on a Saturday evening with another couple, place was packed. No issue with the customer service, it was good, the food was disappointing. Had the tomahawk meatball, tasteless & dry. Soufle was not up to par, appetizer was bland. Interesting interior décor, plus the distillery district is hoping. There are... More

This place is really nice! It was my first time dining here and my first impression was that the ambiance and decor is that of a classy, elegant, and European-French feel to it. There's dim lighting, a bread cutting station in the middle of the restaurant where you can see someone slicing bread for each table, and a semi-open kitchen... More

Go to Cluny for the food, not the service. Our waiter had no knowledge on how to serve wine. He couldn't remove the foil wrap around the cork, so he started peeling if off with his nails and then when he finally removed the cork, he lifted the bottle to his nose and smelled the wine. He said, "it smells... More

Overall good value for the setting (aperitif, starter, main dish with a glass of wine and a coffee for two - $180), just very busy and noisy. I especially liked the "hanger steak," and they respect how well done you want it to be. Good is to ask for a quiet corner if you do not want to shout. Make... More

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We're so happy to hear you were such a fan of our hanger steak -- great choice! We're sorry, however, to hear the noise was bothersome to you. Next time just let us know, and we'll do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Looking forward to next time already!... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
