We decided to book their Winterlicious menu as we haven’t been in nearly a decade.
They did not disappoint at all. We were four in total and were attended to and seated promptly.
The ambiance is lovely with huge art works hanging on the walls and fresh flowers on the table. The cornbread and olive oil on the table was a nice Portuguese touch.
For appetizers, we had scallops, sardines, squid and salad. The fish was fresh and absolutely delicious. It was seasoned perfectly.
Our entrees were the duck breast, salmon, lamb chops and skate fish. The lamb chops were a good size and cooked perfectly medium the was I prefer it.
The fish was so tender and flakey and the lemon/herb risotto was to die for.
Desserts were gingerbread cake, white chocolate mousse and chocolate cherry cake. Again, there was a good variety and everyone enjoyed.
We did feel a little rushed at the end as they were getting ready for their second seating but overall it was an excellent meal and we will definitely be returning.

Look, everyone writes rave reviews about this place but do you understand that IT IS TRULY AMAZING? The warm but sophisticated old world charm of the decor is subterfuge. The staff is enthusiastically amicable without being ingratiating so when the selections start to appear at your table you realize that every item has been hand selected for quality and freshness. Then you begin to understand that this restaurant is the culmination of a Executive Chef, Manny Vilela who is at the pinnacle of his profession & Albino Silva, a restaurateur with a beautiful soul.
Truth be told, today I celebrated my 71st birthday with a meal from heaven. Thank you Chiado & Kudos

I was invited here as a guest, and what a wonderful place for dinner. Very personalized service. They had several fresh fish options that they presented to us at the table. And, they have a lovely Portuguese twist, so when I brought up that I had visited Portugal a while back and enjoyed cata plana, they offered to make it for me even though it was not on the menu. It was fantastic!
The whole evening was perfect. I will definitely return here on one of my future trips to Toronto.

If you wanted to be treated like a second class citizen and be served cold food during Winterlicious, then sure, go for it. Both the server and manager of the restaurant were beyond rude. We came here for the cod which we tried during non-Winterlicious and upon being seated, our server told us it was sold out (at 1:30pm on the first day of Winterlicious) and as we replied with “oh no! That’s what we came here for” he walked away mid-sentence. We asked to speak to the manager as we drove an hour and purposely brought our parents here for a special occasion and surprisingly, the manager was even more rude than the server. We asked if we can speak in private as we have a surprised planned for my parents and the manager said “if you have something to say, say it here.” The shrimp bisque was cold and disappointing. The squid tasted like burned charcoal. Dessert was underwhelming. Chiado, if you’re going to serve such low quality food and have your staff treat guests with so much attitude, don’t bother with Winterlicious because not only will we NEVER be back during the regular season, but we will warn our foodie friend network to stay away from your subpar restaurant with rude staff! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Overall the restaurant is small, the prices are expensive however sometimes you get what you pay for. This is not one of those times, don't get me wrong, the itsy bitsy portions tasted good but if I wanted Tapas I would have made sure I ate before I went to this restaurant. Very disappointed in the meal portions, my entree was the size of an appetizer. BEWARE, EAT BEFORE YOU GO, OR DON'T GO. Find another restaurant that you will pay big but get more food for your money.

Chiado is very good, but, well, I just did not "connect". Very traditional, old school, no surprise, straight forward, very well presented food and well served by professional, personable staff.
Summerlicious, good choice, $55
Sardines, one of my faves, served with an almost sweet n sour dressing and pickled cabbage (?) good, but give me butter or olive oil!! Jools had the grilled octopus, nice texture and well cooked.
Confit of Duck leg, quite salty, burnt skin, but very meaty. Jools had the Salmon, super size piece, crispy skin, well executed.
Chocolate Spice cake, had a long lingering after taste .. ginger? Nice. Jools lemon Tart, very thin, nicely presented however "soggy bottom".
Service was attentive and personable.
2 Summerlicious and 2 cocktails inc tax and grat $200... quite a lot for a lunch.

We picked Chiado for our 2020 Winterlicious Experience. Overall a good choice !
We were seated in the wine cellar room with good seating and private which is always great. Our reservation was for 9pm which was good bit we felt we were being rushed by the staff! With a late seating comes advantages and disadvantages and one of this was that the menu was missing the Cod Fish, Scallops etc,
However the food that we were able to order was good. I enjoyed the two lamp Chops ( advertised as a Rack of Lamb ). The starter was rather small - I ordered the sardine. Dessert was good as well. Good selection of wines as well.

A favourite place for seafood. The grilled octopus appetizer is mouthwatering. The Assorda with monkfish and lobster possessed incredible flavours. The rack of lamb was the best. We shared a bottle of Portuguese wine and an after dinner port. Our waiter was extremely attentive as always. This is a must if you like seafood.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was very European, The waiter was a consummate professional. The service and busing of the tables was as smooth as I've seen. My wife and I both enjoyed the Beet and arugula salad. My wife had the Sea Bass which she rated as excellent. I had the Atlantic Salmon which was the best Salmon I've experienced in over 40 years of fine dining. This restaurant is one that should not be missed! I would rate in my top 5 of all time.

It was are first time dining at Chiado Restaurant. We dined with family. The seafood appetizer was terrific, loved the shrimp, octopus and cod. Our entree was grilled salmon, roasted potatoes, broccoli & carrots. So delicious! We had a variety of delicious Portuguese desserts. All the desserts were amazing and outstanding. The chefs and waiters provided top notch service. I would highly recommend Chiado Restaurant if you visit Toronto or live in Toronto.

Not good. Excited by the (somewhat) limited menu, but this place failed in almost every category. I had grilled octopus, it was all wrong, wrong texture, not grilled, not crispy as octopus should be. The other peeps in our group had 3 different fishes, all decent but none remarkable. Limited and super overpriced wine list and menu was disappointing. My company was fantastic, thankfully.

Dining room is tastefully decorated and also a good number of “patio” tables. Service is excellent and attentive. We opted for the fish flown in from Portugal! We shared the Carpacio of Grouper and it was absolutely delicious! Then we picked 2 different fish fresh from the Mediterranean and it was really well prepared tender and moist! Excellent dining experience!

We came here as a family to celebrate an amazing accomplishment and came away so impressed. The food was incredible - we all had fish entrees including some off the menu and some of the daily specials. The portions were huge and the everything we ordered was amazing. We did lots of sharing and decided that each dish had it's own special flavour. Although the prices are high, you get very special food for a special occasion.

This is one of the best meals I have had in Toronto. As a lover of good food, I have been to hundreds of restaurants in Toronto and Chiados is my favourite! The service is always top notch and the meal is consistently delicious. I have tried many items on the menu and each and every one has been delicious. One of the best rack of lambs in Toronto. Cataplana is my favourite dish. The flavours are intense and complex. So delicious. Love this restaurant!!

We were fortunate to enjoy one of the most memorable dinners I’ve ever had down in the Wine Cellar. Jamie was our server and he absolutely wowed us all. We were about 10 people celebrating a company Christmas dinner.
I also need to ensure I call out the staff in the back – the food was UNBELIEVABLE! Everything we had had us wanting more – from the olive oil and bread to the multiple appetizers (some we ordered twice!) to the mains and the cheese and port and desserts.
It was a truly amazing experience and I just wanted to again recognize the fantastic work Jamie did, his attention to detail and recommendations and service were outstanding, as was the food, drink and overall experience.
Thank you and can’t wait to come back!
