I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a Greek dinner at Christina’s on The Danforth! Their hummus was extra earthy, I believe thanks to a hint of coriander??? The Greek salad looked great but I could barely taste the dressing unfortunately. I had Moussaka for the first time (meat, not vegetarian) and it was delicious!!! Super tender and tasty, I loved it. Out server was absolutely fantastic and said we could stay for hours as he left the restaurant after his shift ended.
Sadly the restaurant did not agree and turned off the music an hour early before closing time. We were the last ones in the restaurant and felt that we should leave which is unfortunate because I would have liked to have stayed longer. As a result I can only give my experience 3/5. I could forgive the lack of flavour in the salad dressing but feeling kicked out an hour early is kind of unforgivable. We even turned around to say good night and there was no one there. ~ Suzie The Foodie

Went for dinner pre-show on April 13th. Our server, Alexia, was very nice, knew the menu, made recommendations, and brought food, including yummy garlic bread (with extra napkins!), promptly.
Food was very good, large portions. We had Chicken Souvlaki ($27) and Biftaki Frites (3 meat patties, lots of delicious cheese $27). A little pricey, but typical of downtown dining now. House Red Wine (small glass $15) was also a little pricey, and they bring you refills on pop, but also charge by the glass.
The atmosphere is only good if you really like really loud music blaring all dinner. Conversation was impossible, even the servers had to bend down to hear us. Live saxophonist accompanied piped in music. Interesting, but way too loud.
Seating is tight, they have crammed in so many tables that it is impossible for even staff to go by without hitting your chair. Felt like being on an airplane!
Been there, done that.

Lovely patio experience last weekend. Super lamb/beef Moussaka, moist, layered beautifully, hearty, and delicious! Three-dip appetizer with grilled pita was a yummy starter, as was the grilled squid meal ordered by my friend. A chilled ouzo ( on the rocks) aperitif warms you up if chilly!

Been to Christina’s 2 years ago loved it and came back last October 2020 during Pandemic. But this time during a fully open economy I expected the same if not better. My husband a retired Chef ordered our usual chicken sovlski and pork souvlaki dinner. to our surprise the Presentation was very poor and the food was less &!not filled c there was hardly rice and potatoes on the plate, very dry. the pork souvlaki was bloody and the Greek salad ain’t a Greek salad anymore. The waiter was so dry and seemed unhappy working. My husband asked him to take the pork sovlski back it was bloody & unsanitary, he took it back without apologizing, came back in 2 minutes and stated that the fat on the pork is bloody and that’s ok. Insult to our intelligence, he didn’t even offer another plate so he can have his dinner. my husband made it clear that pork and chicken must be fully cooked for health reasons. The presentation of the plates were like we were in a poor communist country and the price was double considering the quality, quantity and presentation was poor, looked like crap 💩 disgusting and unsanitary.
We asked if the management has been changed and in reply we were told nope, the same owners past 7 years. I told the waiter we drove 4 hours to enjoy authentic Greek food and salad, you guys are no different than a restaurant in rundown town we were appalled at the food and service. Will never go back, very disappointed ☹️ !

Some friends and I came here for a weekday dinner about a month ago and the food and service were just out of this world. Both of my friends were gluten intolerant and our server had some awesome suggestions and even for me, who can eat anything, they were very accommodating in switching out the rice for their yummy lemon roasted potatoes. I highly recommend their lamb shank - tender and flavourful plus huge portions. I was so impressed that a few weeks later when another friend and I were strolling along the Danforth looking for a nice place with a patio for dinner on a Saturday night I suggested Christina's. To my delight the same server was working that night and to my absolute astonishment he recognized me and although we did not have reservations and it was a very busy Saturday night he found us a table within minutes on the patio and again the food and service was absolutely outstanding. Of course I had the lamb shank again while my friend had the chicken souvlaki which she loved. I will definitely be back again and highly recommend as one of the best Greek restaurants in Toronto.

Was busy so had to wait a while to place order
Food came terribly late after ordering
One of the entrees was very undercooked despite asking for medium
Fries were basically soggy and boiled in taste and texture
Salad was thrown carelessly on dish not dressed well, basically a bag of salad in appearance
Lots of restaurants on the Danforth to choose from. Will not be returning.
Waitress was very good though despite the issues

My souvlaki consisted of 6 shrivelled up chunks of tough and very badly overcooked pork. I still have the burnt taste in my mouth. When the waiter took our plates (I had left much of my meal uneaten) I told him that it was not good at all. He said that I should have told him earlier and he would have gotten me another one. Had I done that, my wife would have been finished her meal by the time mine arrived, so I decided against it. He kept insisting that I should have said something, obviously not realizing that I just had. The bill came with no adjustment or consideration for my complaint. Very bad experience.

I came with my family to visit this restaurant and the food was so delicious and the energy of the store was delightful. The quality of the food was excellent and not expensive. The service was incredible and we were amazed by the owners real Greek hospitality. This place highly recommended for couples, families, and even going solo. Five starts aren’t enough!

My wife and I reserved a table at Christinas last Friday. We had not been there since 2019. We were looking forward to some nice Saganaki and Moussaka.
When we arrived we were welcomed by Tommy, an outstanding waiter. He was very attentive and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. The service throughout the evening was terrific and the food was excellent.
I had the chicken souvlaki, the portion was generous, the presentation was thoughtful. The flavour was very good and the chicken was very tender and moist. My wife ordered the Mousaka. She had been craving it for a long time. We had gone to another Greek restaurant a week before and were appalled by the food. Christinas didn't disappoint here. My wife is very particular when it comes to Mousaka. I had to try it as it looked so good. One bite tells you that it was authentic and made with love!
Oh and the baklava was excellent!
Thanks to everyone at Christinas and especially our new friend Tommy. It was a great dinner and we will see again very soon!

Why do I give Christina's one star? Because at the end of the meal, we were RIPPED OFF by the waitress! How unfortunate. It's also my fault for not scrutinizing the bill sufficiently. Caveat Emptor! I was attending a family group birthday party at Christina's and knew that the 3 people I was paying for had consumed approximately $100 worth of food. Add to that 1/2 litre of house red and a glass of house wine, I believe the bill should have been around $140 before tax. That's expensive cheap wine, but that's how things are. The reason I don't know precisely is because the waitress showed me the bill and then took it away again as she keyed in the total to the credit machine. I remarked to my brother-in-law, to whom she did the same thing," it's odd she's taking back our receipt." Only later did I understand the reason: because we were a large group, a tip was automatically applied, yet I didn't get time looking at the bill to see this. As a result, our $103 food order and 3 glasses of house wine ended up costing me $208.54. I enjoyed the food, but the petty larceny at the end of the evening spoiled it for me. My question is, was the extra $30 you got from me worth the cost of nobody I know ever setting foot in your restaurant again?

It's nice that at lunch we were offered both a lunch menu (my wife ordered from it) and a dinner menu (me). The vegetarian moussaka was really good; the lamb shank with orzo was very tasty. Authentic Greek coffee was a great finisher.

What a disappointment. The chicken souvlaki and potatoes were delicious but came with room temperature rice. The braised wine chicken was clearly pre-cooked in a steam oven and then quickly dressed, pan-fried and served. The result was somewhere between tasteless and inedible. Ambiance and service were outstanding but there is obviously a problem in the kitchen.

We were out on Saturday looking for a quiet and cozy place to eat. A few other restaurants on Danforth were overcrowded with shouting children, stressed waitstaff, no music, only noises of forks against the plates. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into Christina's and found a tastefully decorated spacious place with quiet music on the background and smiling staff. The food was amazing! The portions are very generous, nicely presented on the plates. Our waiter was very attentive. Shortly after we came in, all the other tables were filled, but even at capacity they were able to maintain an atmosphere of a fine dining restaurant. Christina's is now on the list of my favorite places to dine!

Had been here pre-Covid and is was great. Not sure what happened in the last few years. Moussaka was disgusting. I am of Greek heritage and this was worst I have tasted. Lamb chops were over cooked as was the pork souvlaki. No manager in restaurant to deal with clientele. Will definitely not go back! Service was slow and not very welcoming.

Mezes for four- Shrimp, dolmates were best I've ever tasted, so fresh. Eggplant zucchini stack wonderful. spanakopita very good. Then two of us shared a beetroot salad and baklava. Both very very fresh and beautifully presented. Interesting flavours, just a little twist on things. Baclava just right, just sweet enough and very flakey pastry.
Service was wonderful and very attentive. Will go back for sure next time in Toronto.
