We were in search of a place for lunch and Guiness and we were glad we chose here. The Guiness was very good and we enjoyed our lunch. I had the sausages and garlic mash. If there is garlic in the mash you don't taste it which was fine by me. My husband had the stuffed Yorkshire pudding. He was... More

Nothing like a little pub fare for a hearty change from fine dining. For this meal, I started off with a warm--not tongue-singeing hot--ale and onion soup which appeared just as I’d hoped once my pint of Keith’s and the newspaper were done, switching next to a glass of Argentinian Malbec: yum, yum! The steak and mushroom pie to follow... More

We have passed by this location many times and after enjoying a show today we decided to give it a try. It is nicely decorated and clean inside. It is also much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Our server was very prompt and attentive as was the person on the door, we were immediately seated.... More

First of all, it's a very easily accessible by public transit; convenient for having drinks freely. We noticed that the establishment has undergone a recent renovation; nicely done! High ceiling gives you space... All dishes have been satisfactory; nachos, onion soup, steak... Only classic poutine was a bit dryer than it supposed to be... The steak size exceeded the expectation... More

I had watch the Reno on this place and couldn't wait to get inside. I love all the British styling, it is such a lovely looking place. I sat at a raised table in the window, loved that spot. I ordered the chicken pot pie......I was excited to see what they would serve up. The chicken pot pie came with... More

Arrived about quarter to Happy Hour. Sat at the bar. Was greeted promptly by the young lady who was behind the bar but I think she was a manager. She took my drink request and she asked me if I would like a menu. I said yes as I had visions of delicious Elephant & Castle meals I had eaten... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
