Tonight we enjoyed "small plates" in the "Red Tomato" bar downstairs in "Fred's Not Here". We love sitting at the bar! Lots of attention and service by Mark the Bar tender tonight. The coconut shrimp are plump & crispy-the best in the city. We always order 2! We enjoyed a freshly chopped kale salad with a delicious light dressing of... More

The food was terrible. It was cold, greasy and whatever we ordered was as bad as it could get. No one, and I mean no one from a party of 5 touch any of the foods. When asked for the bill, he asked if we liked it and obviously we said no. All we heard after that was:" I'm sorry... More

Very busy but they take good care of you and the service is good. The menu is large enough to satisfy most tastes. Prices are consistent with downtown Toronto. Soup of the day was delicious. Wide variety of drinks, wine and beer.

Hadn't been here in a few years. We were as pleased as we were in the past ... great menu choices ... would recommend the lobster and crab bisque with the pastry top to start ... our host Andrew, was very attentive but not intrusive, a second bread basket (spicy corn bread and warm french type bread) came without us... A very accommodating restaurant that serves good food. The service was very friendly. Right in the heart of King street with the Princess of Wales theater across the street. Dessert was awesome. Bread pudding and the creme brulee were wonderful. Prices were reasonable. I would recommend and come again.

I decided to eat here tonight and left feeling pretty disappointed with the food and the service. Ordered pork knuckle, whilst I appreciate this is not the leanest cuts of meat, it arrived and was just 70% fat. Not great. The "frites" were soggy in fat and all in all it just turned into a plate of fat. I explained... More

The steak was among the most tender I have had and the flavour could not be beat. It was a nice quiet place to enjoy a meal and conversation with great service. I will be going again when next I am at the theatre

We found ourselves at Fred's Not Here on a Tuesday evening during our holiday! We had not booked but to be honest there was no need to! When we arrived at 7.30 the restaurant was extremely quiet with only 2 other tables occupied which is a real shame as it is a decent size dining area! The waiter who served... More

We had a large group (12) and the staff was accommodating. One waitress handled us with ease. Very little wait for the food. The food was very good, good portions and reasonably priced. Lighting was a little low. An enjoyable experience! We would go to the restaurant again.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
