This was a Thursday evening. A colleague and I walked into the restaurant around 9. It was busy and lively. Service was prompt and competent without being over the top friendly. Good balance. Food was excellent. My back was to most of the restaurant and to my surprise when we finished just after 10 we were the only 2 people... More

Dinner here before theatre. Reservations recommended. Fantastic experience and attentive service from the get go. We came for the steak and were not disappointed! Appetizer tried was the Baked Lobster & Crab Soup. Piping hot with a puffed phyllo on top. So delicious, I was left wanting more. 6oz Angus Beef Fillet Mignon melted in your mouth "like butter" The... More

Had Dinner tonight at Fred's not here and have to say it was probably the best steak I have had. Great service and friendly conversation with my waiter Mark. Hope to be back again and highly recommend this place.😀😀

I ate here with a large group of friends after the theatre. It was the only restaurant I could find that didn't force us into a pricey fixed menu because of our group size. The menu has lots of variety and tasty options. Our group was pleased with the service and food. I would go back!

Girls night out and dinner before the theatre we chose this restaurant. It was the last night of Winterlicious. The choices were top notch in comparison to other Winterlicious venues. All of us were impressed not only with our meal but the service as well. I had the mushroom stuffed with escargot followed by the lobster pasta. Both were amazing.... More

We just went last night for supper. Our server Andrew was top notch and answered all our questions. I had the crab and lobster soup appetizer was so amazing- I wanted to lick the bowl :-P lol but that wouldn't be classy right haha. Husband's steak was cooked to perfection... so good he wouldn't even share a bite! Go try... More

I came here with 4 girlfriends during winterlicious. All the girls were happy with their food. The winterlicious had many choices and portion sizes were large. My only con was being seated by the window during the winter is a bit rough. Had to keep my jacket on the whole time. During the summer that would be an okay seat.

Mark the waiter could work any any restaurant he chooses. You could eat at any restaurant you choose. However, why not find out what my wife and I and he already know about how delightfully refreshing it is to spend a lunch hour or 2 at Fred's. Try the angel hair pasta with shrimp...it doesn't get any better. Great value... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
