Went with a friend for a Christmas lunch and had the holiday seafood special. The company, food, atmosphere were all terrific, thanks to Andrew. It's been a long time since I've been at Fred's not here. Glad to see that not much had changed and will definitely recommend to friends and family coming to visit Toronto!!

A group of 6 were taking in Come From Away the Musical and picked this restaurant as it was convienent to the Royal Alex Theater. Of the 6 people 4 just found their meal just average that being the cod and braized beef. One found their salmon good and I found my steak to have just a wonderful flavour and... More

We went to Fred's Not Here prior to a theater performance at the Royal Alexandra. The location is great - we had a comfortable table and even leaving at 7:45 were in plenty of time for our 8:00 PM performance. The food was terrific - very tasty and well presented. The menu was great. The service was very friendly. There... More

Went after reading decent reviews. Our service was pretty decent. The food on the other hand was not. We waited an hour for our food to come out. The server did apologize and state the kitchen was understaffed, but it did not look to be. When the food did come it was horrible. My daughters Alfredo sauce resembled milk more... More

Haven't been to Fred's Not Here for decades. For the holidays we had tickets to Come Far Away, so we were looking for a restaurant close to the Royal Alex. As in the past, Fred's Not Here has lots of menu options with steak and lobster leading the pack. I had my eye on the baked lobster and crab soup... More

One of our favorite pre-theatre restaurants. Arrived from out of town a little early, our table was available. The staff are excellent, very attentive, the food was also excellent. It's a busy restaurant as its in walking distance to the theatre district. I would make a reservation if you want to guarantee a table.

We met some old friends for the first time in a few years. They were late - no problems. We ordered and ate first and they seamlessly joined us when they arrived. Waiters very adept at making everyone feel comfortable. Good wine list. The NY steak at medium rare was tasty just as steamed the mussels were delicious. Waiter very... More

Excellent lunch. We had the two course holiday lunch special. We both ordered the Crab and lobster soup and the lobster fettucine. Both items were absolutely amazing. I have been going to Fred's for a long time and have had the pleasure of dealing with Andrew who is the best waiter at Freds. I happen to love their corn bread... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
