My husband and I arrived early for our reservation, so we were taken to the bar area where we enjoyed a drink before dinner. The bar was open, bright, inviting, and very comfortable. I ordered a cool lavender (gin cocktail) and was delighted by the flavours with every sip. We enjoyed our dinner in the unique atmosphere of the downstairs... More

Visited Montecito on Feb 11 - Valentine's Day weekend - the service and atmosphere are fantastic. The food was tasty, but for the price, the menu really needs some improvement. No cheese on the charcuterie board for 25 bucks, a really rubbery BBQ octopus, a tiny braised beef rib and less than optimal shrimp on the steak. Wine and liquor... More

Although I left feeling like I just contributed to a directors estate, I did enjoy my time there. Some of the items were a little on the bland side, but our service was excellent. Love the feel and look of the restaurant. We are planning to come back to try the lounge atmosphere next time.

This was a repeat visit for us before a concert so we had a early reservation. We arrived on time and were told that the kichen would not open for another 20 minutes. What? So we were directed to wait in the bar. They did have a $1 oyster special that helped fill in the wait. In the end there... More

Attended a private dinner in the screening room and had a great time! The restaurant itself is very nice and the screening room was located upstairs with a balcony overlooking the rest of the restaurant downstairs. Service was fantastic even for a large group and we were never waiting for drink refills or plates to be cleared. We had a... More

We were there this past Saturday night. The restaurant was busy, but not packed. The service was very spotty. It took a long time to order, a long time to be served, a long time to have our plates cleared and there was a sense of general confusion and choppy service. There are a lot of service staff yet the... More

I was solo and sat at the bar. The service was fantastic. I had a bison breeze to drink which was amazing- highly recommend! I had the prawn and scallop risotto which was very good. Food is a bit pricey.

Nice welcome at entrance and dining room not full. Our server was efficient yet she seemed annoyed and wasn't really very personable. We all had cocktails. Glasses more than half filled with very large ice cubes. My drink didn't even reach ice cubes?! No straw or stir stick. We brought a bottle of wine (their wine list isn't posted anywhere... More

I visited this place as part of Winterlicious. For a place next to TIFF building, I expected overpriced run-of-the-mill contemporary cuisine. Instead, I was delighted to have a well-executed meal from beginning to end: the beet and burrata beautifully presented with the burrata transected to show the firm outer part with the soft inner part served up with the most... We went here for the Winterlicious menu and the food was excellent. Really interesting combinations (think nuts in the apple-parsnip soup) with marvelous presentation on the plate. Everything was served at a good temperature and the pacing was well done, too. The wine list is fabulous! My only regret is that the portion sizes are on the small side. I... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
