Each time I've been to Aunties and Uncles, there has been a 10-15 minute wait for a table. The first time I went, I was with friends who assured me it'd be worth the wait and I'm glad I trusted them because they were right. It's now my favourite breakfast spot, but I try not to go too often so... More

Great breakfast in a cute little restaurant. If you've forgotten to bring cash there's a cash machine nearby. We walked back downtown through Kensington, a nice walk with vintage shops and more.

This is the spot for breakfast. They serve so many excellent dishes, from their pancakes, to their regular breakfast meals served with warm and heavily buttered Challah bread. Soo good! But get up early, this place always has a line and is busy as long as they are open. Make sure you have your cash ready.

We visited Aunties and Uncles for breakfast as I specifically wanted pancakes. It was very busy so we had to wait about 15 minutes but it was worth it. The décor is fun and there are lots of pictures and knick-knacks to look at. The best thing of all were the oatmeal and banana pancakes. Absolutely delicious. Great portions.

The place looked like a run-down house but it really was'nt. The breakfast was great. I forgot what I ordered but it was the breakfast of the day - an omelette with goat cheese and tasty vegetables and other concoctions in it. Would surely come back when I get to return to Toronto.

If you can get in, this is my fav spot in Toronto. It's a feast, and not s bad place to go on your own if needed.

Visited this place on our first morning in Toronto, it was great way to start the trip. Food was amazing, I had the pancakes which I highly recommend and my mum had eggs+bacon which was also lovely. Waitress really made the trip, she could not of been more helpful or welcoming to both the cafe and Toronto.

you are lucky if you find place! it is usually full, the restaurant is quite small! if you are lucky enough to have a good sunny summer day you might enjoy your meal outside. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, it is very cosy, the food is home-made, you will notice it since it takes quite long to be served... but... More

It's basically a greasy spoon. An urban version of a desert truck stop. Staff that wish they worked somewhere else and who regard you as someone standing in the way of their job doing something creative. They don't know what, exactly, but you are in the way of it. Basic breakfast sandwiches. Nothing special. Yawn.

After all the rave reviews, I so looked forward to visiting this venerable establishment. The setting quaint like a small town hideaway nestled less than a block away from a major thoroughfare. The offerings: an all-star line-up of breakfast classics. How can one falter from such a winning combination? A server with a mighty chip on her shoulder and adding... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
