I expected good Thai food here based on the reviews i had read. What surprised me: Excellent Thai food (and I've traveled throughout Thailand) Great prices Friendly, attentive staff and pleasant decor (albeit a little dark for my 50 yo eyes)

Had not been to this restaurant for some years. Went for linch today and, while the service was fine, the food was a big disappointment. Boring.... Will not rush back.

Three of us ate at Bangkok Garden for New Years Eve. They had a fixed price 3 course menu with many options to choose from, for only $35 Cdn per person. They even allowed small changes to the menu based on food preferences. Unlike many set menus, the portions were of a decent size as well. Food was delicious -... More

Our dinner at this restaurant was part of our anniversary celebration. We ordered one of the dinners for two people, to have a chance to sample several different dishes. The authenticity of the food is great, presentation on the plates are very nice, flavours are amazing. Not to spicy and there is a great variety of dishes to choose from.... More

Had the pad Thai, it was delicious, cashew chicken was a little bland, I'm used to a little more spice. Decor of the restaurant was really nice with water fountains in the restaurant. We went with another couple and service was a little slow, but it was good because we were not rushed to finish our meal.

This was my first time for dinner and typically I have enjoyed the lunch buffet. This restaurant was perfect for our work dinner. The ambiance was perfect to have conversations without yelling over loud music which has become typical in other restaurants. There were no issues with separate bills. Menu was extensive to please all palates. Will definitely be back!

I don't know any other Thai restaurant like that in GTA that has lunch buffet with a street noodle bar!!!! SO yummy! And phad thai is made with tamarind sauce, not ketchup or fish sauce. I've been to Thailand and I can say that Bangkok Garden is a real Thai restaurant! Though the food is not as spicy as in... More

I once worked at a place that had seven steps up to the elevator. What was the architect thinking? As our population ages, we need more places that are accessible. What can I say about the food at Bangkok Gardens? It is consistently excellent. This time we went for lunch and chose the buffet because we were running late and... More

Thank you for the wonderful feedback and description of our offerings! I read your review to the team last night during our pre shift meeting and they were truly delighted! I do appreciate the comments regarding accessibility; as you may or may not be aware, Bangkok Garden is housed in a landmark historic building, which presents some challenges with accessibility,... Came here on a Sunday evening. Seating was easy to get. We decided to choose the Star of Siam dinner for two. We substituted the beef stir fry for the Tamarind curry. (Only one substitute allowed) Food was tasty although the addition of potatoes to each of the curries had them skimp on the actual meat. There were no veggies... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
