I don't know any other Thai restaurant like that in GTA that has lunch buffet with a street noodle bar!!!! SO yummy! And phad thai is made with tamarind sauce, not ketchup or fish sauce. I've been to Thailand and I can say that Bangkok Garden is a real Thai restaurant! Though the food is not as spicy as in... More

I once worked at a place that had seven steps up to the elevator. What was the architect thinking? As our population ages, we need more places that are accessible. What can I say about the food at Bangkok Gardens? It is consistently excellent. This time we went for lunch and chose the buffet because we were running late and... More

Came here on a Sunday evening. Seating was easy to get. We decided to choose the Star of Siam dinner for two. We substituted the beef stir fry for the Tamarind curry. (Only one substitute allowed) Food was tasty although the addition of potatoes to each of the curries had them skimp on the actual meat. There were no veggies... More

A deceptively large premises that opens up in the back. Good venue for large groups and modestly priced. Buffet food is reasonably good but not as many offerings as you might find in a Chinese buffet. A la carte is also available but service is a bit slow.

Came late for dinner, as my colleagues had already ordered. Followed the advice for a quick starter, and got my food just seconds after my friends. Tasted excellent. Main course for all of us came at the same time. Spicey and perfect. All happy. Very few people in the restaurant, but that may be a result of the US election... More

We went in with a group of eight, and everyone was very pleased with their meal. They got us in on a busy night, and opened a balcony for us. My shrimp curry was great. We took several containers of left-overs with us. Not as expensive as I would have guessed.

An amazing Thai dining experience in the heart of Toranto's historic city center. Cozy and relaxing setting with a very representative regional Thai dishes. Everything was skillfully prepared and presented. Meats and fishes tender, vegetables a bit crunchy, and noodles soft. Clearly the kitchen knows timing of ingredients to present the perfect dish. Tucked on the back page is a... More

This is my favourite Thai restaurant in Toronto. It's centrally located and the food is always excellent. The currys are particularly tasty.

Elm St is a convenient downtown restaurant area, right by the Chelsea Hotel. There are any number of restaurants on this street from the super pricey Barberian and Ora to the reasonable Donatello and Bangkok Garden. The Bangkok Garden is a busy lunch spot for workers in the area. I hadn't been in a long while and it seemed to... More

We came upon this restaurant by chance and so glad we did as we were struggling to find a good restaurant close to our hotel. Varied menu good size portions full of flavour.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
