Paulo took care of us. He really made us feel at home! His recommendations were perfect. We really enjoyed the pizza and would highly recommend it. Fresh ingredients and choice on crust. Pizza prices very reasonable. Wine prices were on the high side so be careful there! But overall we really enjoyed ourselves. Thanks Paulo!

This was the second time at this restaurant and it was great both times. Excellent service, multiple servers to take care of the table so service was very efficient despite the restaurant being full. Dinner portions are not overly large so get the appetizer to start. Pizza is tasty, thin crust. Very busy restaurant, even in the early evening, highly... More

A business group of 8 had dinner on a Saturday evening. The popularity of Bar Mercurio brought in a full house. Our service was very professional. Food delicious. A bit noisy, but forgivable given the food.

Chef Chrissy makes the most amazing pizzas I have ever tasted anywhere - and I've been to Italy and New York.

Chef Giuseppe Mercurio captures the essence of Italian cuisine with elegant and sophisticated dishes without the pretension. The front of the house and back compliments Mercurio's journey to Italian cuisine magnificently! Bravo!

My family and I live in the suburbs of the Greater Toronto Area and come into the city from time to time to enjoy lunch or dinner at a restaurant. We have been to Bar Mercurio more than a few times, and with all of the good Italian restaurants in Toronto to choose from, that's saying a lot. It's a... More

I live in LA and when I visit Toronto I always stop by Bar Mercurio OR my home away from home. The staff is so attentive and always ready to help a guest. I love, love the pizza but what I really go for is the seasonal meat; beef, veal and especially the Bison with mushrooms, Delilah. The owner Giuseppe... More

This is normally a good, local bistro, moderately priced. When the waiter listed off a few specials, I ordered them to vary from pizza and pasta. One dish was filet of bison with chanterelles mushrooms and a few shavings of black truffle. It was overcooked and not especially tasty. But the bigger disappointment --and shock-- was the price: $69!!! Surely... More

Dear Diner, I am both disappointed and very sorry of your experience at bar Mercurio. The Organic Grass Fed Bison Strip Loin is new on our menu and on this evening it was paired with Hedgehog (Sweet Tooth) mushrooms and Fresh Spanish Black Truffles. I am happy to refund your dinner - we believe in complete customer satisfaction in the... More

We had a pre-theatre dinner and really enjoyed the food, but the bill was very steep. If you choose just a pasta or pizza then you can get by below $30. But the majority of entrees where above $50 and my starter was over $20. The wine list also started at a very steep $60. They had a bunch of... More

Bar Mercurio is a small family run restaurant downtown Toronto, with a strong focus on quality and freshness. We hand make our pasta and agnolotti, our pizza dough comes from a long tradition going back to the family in Italy, our burrata in hand stretched in house. Our wines are carefully selected to compliment a simple and elegant pizza margarita to a bison strip-loin with fresh truffles. Our care and commitment comes to the table - we make the culinary dream happen. Buon Appetito!

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
