We were at a movie at the old Kingsway Theatre just down the road. Stopped in for an early dinner here on a Wednesday afternoon. The place was empty except for the proprietor and his wife. I love Spanish food and we were looking for...an authentic dinner. The menu needs updating but there are many itmes that are very authentic - There are also combo meals that have a good selection for two people. We ordered the Madrid Combo. A tad pricey at $120 TRADITIONAL GARLIC SHRIMPS CHICKEN BREAST SAFFRON SAUCE FRESH SAN PETER FISH PIQUILLO PEPPER SAUCE MY MOTHERS HAM CROQUETTES,ALIOLI SAUCE GRILLED ANGUS BEEF TENDERLOIN,MADEIRA SAUCE HOUSE STYLE PAELLA MADE WITH SHRIMPS, SCALLOPS,CHICKEN, CHORIZO MUSSELS,CALAMARI,SAFFRON RICE. FRESH BREAD AND TAPENADE So lots to eat for two. Also bread and olives to start. The wine list is extensive and the owner has a massive cellar of old and rare high quality wines - most from Europe. Not all are available. We ordered a top end LAN Gran Reserve Rioja (1998) that was also very expensive ($180). It was spectacular. There are few "common" low end wines to choose from. The meal was fine - lots for two people and quite good. The selections could have been spread out a bit more in terms of timing, the food items were prepared and presented back to back - probably because we were the only people in the place. So total with tip was $385. Good food - but not that great. The proprietor insisted on entering into lengthy discussions with us and went on an on about the restaurant business and his wine cellar and his family. It was hard to break off politely. So most of our meal was cooled off by the time we got to eat it. This was probably because we were the only people in the place and it did not look like there was a lot of business coming in...More

My partner and I went out for a pre-valentines dinner and wanted to try Tapas. Firstly, the older gentleman that served us was rude to the point of being uncomfortable. We ordered what we thought was wine, because it was in the valentines ‘wine special...menu’ which didn’t specify that it was champagne. When he came out with a bottle of champagne, we asked for a bottle of red wine instead. Keep in mind, he did not open the bottle. He responded to us rudely and in a manner like we were inconveniencing him. He was trying to insinuate we didn’t know how to read. He told us maybe we should have ordered from the (ridiculously expensive) regular wine menu. It was a very uncomfortable experience to say the least. Food to order was slow, salty and the service was terrible. I won’t be going back to Casa Barcelona. Over priced and terrible service. Very disappointing experience.More

We had a wonderful time at Casa Barcelona. The tapas were outstanding. Loved the shrimp, the lamb and the croquetas. The owners - Eduardo and Nivea - made us feel most welcome! Great Spanish wine selection. Dessert was also divine. We will be back soon!

We visited Casa Barcelona several times in the past. Due the pandemic, we didn't visit / order for pickup since the end of 2019. The prices were 33% more expensive, however, I wanted to eat paella. We did a large order including a PARTY TRAY...PAELLA SEAFOOD ONLY. (4 people) The taste was terrible, no salt, no saffron, no peppers, etc. No taste at all. The rice tasted like cardboard. Half of the mussels were empty. The squid consistence was like rubber. In addition, if it was seafood only, why did you add dry leftovers of fish? A disappointing experience.More

This was the worst restaurant I have been in for a long time. VERY expensive although the quality was poor, prepared in such a short time that it must have been ready before we got there, with lukewarm vegetables. Dingy and old decor. It was...dinner hour but no one came in besides us.More

We first discovered Casa Barcelona 4 years ago and have not been disappointed. We try to eat @ CB 4-6 times a year. I just returned from a trip to Barcelona and tried 2 diffierent resterants for their Paella. One was La Font de les...Muses & the other was La Barca del Salamanca. I can honestly say CB's Paella's are equale if not better on taste and tecture. Great job CB.More

I do not know how other reviewers can give 5 to this place. The paella for two they served us was almost all tinny mussels and clams It was made in about 5 minutes. It seems that everything came from a frozen bag except the...rice. The price was competitive if the quality of the would have been good. Sangria was very expensive $48 one liter. Never again.More

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem while a snowstorm decided to visit Toronto. I got off the subway at Royal York and was starving, my husband who loves Spanish tapas mentioned there was a place close by he wanted to try. When we...arrived we were the only guests as the weather was terrible. The owner Eduardo and his wife were so welcoming and knowledgeable, giving us history of the restaurant and surrounding area. We ordered: calamari, patatas bravas, eggplant with rose sauce, goat cheese with caramelized onions, garlic shrimp, chicken croquettes, and a glass of Hacienda Loped de Haro Crianza. Honestly, everything was just absolutely amazing. The wine was just perfection, the garlic was somehow different than any garlic I have ever tried, and the aioli they make in house was to die for. All of the food was fresh and really tasty. Don't get intimidated by the very large menu, worth it to take some time and choose from all the lovely options! We will definitely be back many many times.More

The food was great, atmosphere dated but in a good way. Felt like i was stepping back in time. They had a guy singing too,it was awesome. It is pricey , but its an experience. I would suggest simplifying the menu. There's too many options...it gets overwhelming.More

When we came here, we prepared ourselves to spend, drink and try the best of their food - especially the paellas. However, we were disappointed. The place was so dark, dingy, and smells old and moldy - the place definitely needs a makeover. The tapas...we ordered were good but were a bit too small a serving. The homemade bread was excellent but the paella was mostly rice lesser seafood, tasteless and dry.More

The food was nice, but overpriced. Service was average. I took my boyfriend to Casa Barcelona to celebrate his birthday there. I made a reservation online and asked the hosts explicitly to wish him happy birthday. When we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty, the...waitress still didn't walk us to our table but told us to sit where we wanted to, no birthday wishes were made at all. We asked the waiter to recommend us food, which he refused saying that whether we liked a dish was up to our taste :D The dishes we ordered were really nice, though, not huge portions, but delicious, home made style. It was worth a try.More

For some reason we have not been to Barcelona for some time, an abundance of other choices and a limited budget I suppose. Walking in we were greeted by the owner as long lost friends and made very welcome. Our drinks order as we looked...at the menu could have been delivered quicker but generally the service was very good and the waitress made very good recommendations regarding choices and quantities of food. This primarily a tapas restaurant though the menu contains a full range of meal and paella choices. The wine list is quite extensive. All the dishes we ordered were very good, and ultimately we probably ordered too much since we underestimated the amount of food we received and over estimated our ability to consume it all, a takeaway bag was provided! The food was very good, especially the seafood. The prices are reasonable though the bill can creep up if you order too many tapas dishes. We will not wait so long before returning. An enjoyable restaurant in a convenient location in the Kingsway/ Bloor area, highly recommended.More

Lobster Paella, Meat Paella, Traditional Paella, Casa Barcelona Paella,Tapas ,, all are great...but what makes this place special is the personal attention by the owners that take care of every detail and make you feel really welcome and at home.More
