This has been a fabulous unpretentious bistro. The food is always wonderful. The restaurant is cozy and a hold over from when Yorkville was more of a place for locals looking for great value eating experience.

I was here on Friday evening for my birthday. Let me preface this review by stating that the average customer is 50+. Though the 3 French waiters were friendly and trying their best, my evening was ruined by the owner's rude wife. She left me standing in the entrance for 15m without greeting me, in spite of my reservation. When... More

I had visited Jacques twice in the last couple of weeks. Once was a lunch with my lovely clients and another a rare treat — a leasurely luch with a freind. This cosy upstairs place is perfectly suited for occasions like that — delicious food, prompt service, good wine. I like the freshness and the consistency of dishes. I had... More

The exterior gave me pause, but once up the steps and inside the restaurant, everything was wonderful. The service was incredible; prompt, friendly, polished and the food was outstanding. We will be back and will bring friends the next time.

This place is small but the food and service is impeccable. Had the scallops for my main and escargot for a starter, both really good and tasty. Staff were excellent and the wine they recommended was well paired with our meals. For sure will go back again.

This restaurant has been around for a long time but I just discovered it when a friend invited me to join her for dinner there. This small restaurant was hopping. You would not be able to get a table without a reservation. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I can't wait to return.

Excellent food. We had the fillet and rack or lamb. Both were delicious and tender. The raspberry tart desert in particular was exceptional.

Despite living in Toronto for decades, we recently "discovered" this wonderful restaurant on the frequent recommendations of friends. It is also known as "Jacques Omelettes" because of its long list of perfectly cooked, soft-centre French style omelettes, of which we had two. The menu also offers many other dishes. Jacques Sorin is the very French chef, his wife Martine manages... More

My friend and I were looking for some french cuisine and found this wonderful gem in Yorkville. It is a very small restaurant so make sure you call for a reservation. The food was wonderful and service was spectacular. My friend had the escargots and lamb. I had the onion soup and filet mignon. Delicious. We were too full for... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
