Petite dejeuner is a place where the food (mostly) hits it out of the park and the 30-45 minute line up outside is well worth the wait. The menu has your staples (omelette, waffles, etc) and there are regular specials. Waffles are worth ordering a separate plate of - crispy and airy, if you decide on something else. The side... After a google search for best breakfast in Toronto we made our way there... although a little disappointed in the moderate line-up ( good sign though) we sat at the bad where we were met with smiles and exceptional service. The breakfast plates were of a good size and the waffles with strawberries were wonderful and well worth a return... More

We came with a group of 5 which made our queueing time a bit longer than expected, but the food more than made up for it. I ordered the Waffles Benny and they were delicious! The portion sizes were just right - I felt full, but not overly so. If you like feeling extra full after brunch, I suggest ordering... More

Service - I think the bartender is also the door man and the waiter. Knowledgeable, fast and friendly. Setting - nice, home like feel to the place. Clean and comfortable Food - I had the fish (haddock) and chips. Good portion. Batter crispy and fish was fresh! Tartar sauce is homemade - they should bottle and sell it! Overall I... More

The service is friendly and pretty fast considering how busy they are. We had the Eggs Benny, and it was really excellent. We queued for about 30min, but it was worth the wait and we would come again.

Service was wonderful. Food was superb. We waited for an hour in the snow for this gem. The menu was magnificent. Eggs Benedict and mimosas are traditional but the local specials will amaze you. Cute place too.

Food was pedestrian, services was slow and as they were closing, a cook was walking through the restaurant (at least a few times) loudly telling people to leave so she could go home. It's not my habit to stay after closing, but we were waiting for our bill. Our waiter was pleasant but the behavior of the cook really rubbed... More

The service was great. Prompt, nice. We went there for breakfast during the week. Food is good, I had salmon benny and my partner had benny with bacon. The only issue was coffee. We just don't lake it. We haven't had any espresso drinks, to be fair, so maybe we should have. Convenient location.

Love, love, love this place!!! Great food, homemade juices, strong coffee. A must every time I am in Toronto! Eggs Benny are outstanding. Waffles and crepes are delicious. There are daily specials also worth choosing. Lamb shank eggs Benedict anymore? Excellent! Their potato rosti as a side is excellent. A must when in Toronto.

Fortunately we only had to wait about 15 minutes as we got there at 8:45 on cold Sat morning. We had great conversation with our line mates. The eggs Bennie are perfect the hollandaise is smooth and lemony. The eggs poached to perfection. The Apple slaw is a real treat. Mrs. C had the Belgian waffle and truly enjoyed it.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
