Excellent service! Great fish & chips. Many years of service in this area. Very busy. Fantastic onion rings to share. Large portions! Waitress suggested we share 2 pc f&c's with fries and share the onion rings. Plenty of food with room for dessert & coffee. I had a pint of beer, which the brewery is right across the street from the restaurant...Amsterdams! Small parking lot, but street pay parking is available, mall across the road. Dessert, homemade apple crumble with custard for my friend, me ice cream!

Thanks, during COVID we are only making our Keylime pie. Voted best in the city, it's worth trying. hope to see you soon.

Didn't expect a full house with people waiting in the cold to get in, on a Wednesday night. Very popular place. Given my meal I understand why.
Service was excellent. Maitre'd worked hard for a table for me, just one in line of couples and more.
I took a chance on the cod. My Toronto experience with cod fish and chips has been spotty. So, I usually order the Halibut. This time, the ambiance and large crowd convinced me to try the cod and save $6 to boot. It was worth it. At Olde Yorke their cod and chips will make you think your cod was freshly pulled from the cold salty water off the Grand Banks of Nova Scotia. It was firm, yet delicate, and with a crispy batter that enhanced the whole experience. Taste and texture perfect. The coleslaw side was excellent.
Though, the chowder needs a lot of work, it's no different than any other seafood restaurant in Toronto. Seems nobody in Toronto knows the recipe.
I'll be back.

Have been going to OYFC old Yorke fish and chips for over 15 years and we still really enjoy the fresh fish, friendly service and continued great taste. Just as good as the UK style fish and chips that I was brought up on . a real winner

Went into the olde yorke fish and chips two weeks before Good Friday to ask when we should make a order for take out for Good Friday, we asked to speak to a manager to make sure we knew the process. The manager said we needed to physically come into the store exactly a week before Good a Friday, so a week before Good Friday we went in, we were then told it was too early to come back the next day (Saturday) so we did, they said to come back Monday, we came back Monday night to be told we had to call in on Tuesday, we were not given a time on Tuesday to call in so I called at 1145 on my lunch break. We were told it was all sold out for Friday. I asked to speak to a manager, they said they’ll call us back. 6 hours later we still didn’t hear anything so I called again and waited to speak to a manager, they said we should get a call from the owner, we never received a call. I know it’s a small business, we love the food it’s why we wanted to order but this was a lot of work to eventually be told too bad you called in too late, but we went in two weeks before Good Friday to ask for the process of ordering for Good Friday and was given wrong information, we did receive an apologize but after I told them I needed to escalate the situation, not before hand.

Hello,
Good Friday is absolute chaos for us, everyone wants fish and chips and we are over run! Having said that, I’m sorry you got the runaround. Please call and ask to speak to the owner. In general terms we cannot take every order, we operate at full capacity all day long. We can only take so many orders placed ahead of time to accommodate walk in’s. I devote two 1/2 days with another employee to do nothing else than taking orders and processing payment before the big day. It’s a day we plan for months in advance.

A friend and I were looking forward to a great dish of fish and chips. When our plates arrived they looked delicious and inviting. The chips and coleslaw were very good.. the haddock and halibut seemed large enough.. until we cut into them.. the fish was thin and buried in this thick coating of batter.. For the price, we basically paid well over $20 dollars for fries, coleslaw and batter!! I do not think we will be back again.

I used to sing the praises of Olde Yorke. But no more. My favorite dish there, the Seafood Platter (with Haddock, Shrimps and Scallops) has increased about 25%.
I ordered three club soda, which came from a machine and cost the restaurant a few pennies. I was charged $2.50 each. The total with tip and tax was over $10.00. The total bill with an extra piece of Halibut and a caesar salad was $80.00 with tip and tax.
Retirees make up the bulk of their business. How can they afford these prices? Imagine if you dare to order a couple of pints.
I may go back once or twice a year, but not regularly. The prices are far greater than the value. There's a limit to what people will pay for comfort food, no matter how good.

We were a group of 4, no reservations and we were seated promptly. Terrific service, prices are on par with other establishments, and the food was absolutely great. We all had Haddock and Chips and I had one of the beer specials. The fish was plentiful, cooked perfectly and the batter was thin and crisp. Waitress was friendly, very efficient and knowledgeable. Two of us had the apple crisp, and the other two had the sherry trifle for desert - all delicious. The decor inside is very warm and comfortable, much like you would find in an English pub. There is a ramp at the back entrance for anyone who requires that. We all gave it 5 stars and will definitely be back, as there are many items on the menu that we're tempted to try.

I have had fish and chips in London England, Dublin Ireland, Alaska. The best I have ever had is Olde York. Their batter on the fish is amazing and the fries are fresh made
and plentiful. Just love their British pub setting. Try it you will love it!!!!!!

I read recently that British Fish and Chips shops have had a 70% increase in their cost for halibut. The article continued to say that many F&C shops in Great Britanin
have been forced to close because customers refuse to pay the increased cost.
Olde Yorke will face the same fate as the prices are far greater than the value of the food. If you can't give the customer a quality product at a reasonable price, it is not the customer's fault.

Last evening (July 30) three of us visited the Olde Yorke for the first time since COVID19. We had forgotten how outstanding this hidden gem in Leaside is. Maitre d' showed us to a patio table immediately (at 6 pm! we were lucky no wait likely bc its a long weekend). We started with cold pints and calamari cooked to perfection and sizzling off the grill. Our three order of halibut and chips were hot, crispy (no detectable grease) and toothsome. The fish was soft and succulent with batter that complemented it. Tartar sauce on the side. Service was impeccable: prompt and pleasant. No room left to try dessert but maybe next time. We'll be back for the best fish 'n chips in Toronto.

Coming from the UK (which I deem the home of good fish & chips) I was a little apprehensive about having fish & chips in Canada, but I needn’t have worried as the cod at this place was amazing - easily as good as the best in the UK. Chips could have been cut a little thicker but I’m being fussy. Must also say that our waitress was outstanding - really polite, friendly and helpful. Also pleased to see they had Heinz ketchup on the tables!

Took takeout 2 halibut and one fries. The fries were reheated as they were mostly dark brown - and a very small serving. But the fish was the most disappointing. I have been getting takeout for 10 years from this restaurant and these two pieces were probably half the size of what they used to be. For over $40. Not worth it. Will give my business elsewhere.

We enjoyed the fish calamari and clams with family. Service was fast, servings were generous and food was excellent. The breading was not overpowering or too thick and the sauces complemented the food. Worth several visits 👍🏼

Very disappointed in the quality and small quantity of grilled fish and a small "greek" salad. The fish was overcooked and bland and barely had a grilled look. My companions had the halibut fish and chip dinner and shrinkflation has hit the Old Yorke. Much smaller serving of fish than on previous visits and smaller serving of chips.
Definitely not in a hurry to ever return Too bad

East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
