Friends suggested visiting this restaurant, located in the Leaside section of Toronto, for dinner. I had somehow overlooked this establishment, despite the fact that I live at Yonge and St. Clair, not far away. In a nutshell, if you like fish and chips done right, this is the place to go - by far the best experience in the GTA.... More

My husband and I come here on the regular. He's British and the fish and chips here is just like back home. The fish is fresh and the batter crispy, the fries are homemade and thick cut...They even have mushy peas! With a pint of Tetley's, this is the perfect trip back home without going through customs and immigration!

Do you want excellent English style, beer-batter fish & chips? This wonderful pub-like restaurant is your answer. Warm and charming, with a friendly staff and effective service, on site parking and a take-out window, we visit here regularly and are never disappointed. Good value for great food from "over home" - the owner is understood to be an ex-pat Englishman... More

This is the best fish and chip restaurant in Toronto. The fish is fresh and the batter is perfect. Most importantly the fish is not oily. You can have Haddock or Halibut. The chips are the best you've ever tasted. The coleslaw is fabulous. I order the Fisherman's Platter; with Halibut, Shrimps and Scallops. What a meal. Unfortunately, they do... More

Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly smile and were seated promptly. Our server was attentive, fish and chips were served piping hot. Haddock was cooked to perfection, flaky and moist potions are plentiful and reasonably priced.

Another seafood place, another plate of fish & chips? Not quite. Like any self-respecting seafood restaurant they don’t have fish & chips. They have cod & chips, halibut & chips, haddock & chips. And, these are GOOD fish & chips. In our Friday lunch special ($8.95) the fish was New Zealand Hake with a crispy thin batter and moist interior.... More

Love this place! I come here about 3-4 times a month. I came in on Sat and the line up out the door. I had a friend with me and we requested a table for two and were seated immediately. The prime tables for 4 people were in demand and scarce that night. The price is great and the fish... More

So after all these years that I've been in the area finally went to Old Yorke for lunch today with my family, food was good not OMG great but good, we ordered of course fish and chips (halibut) not seeing what all the hype is about over the fish and chips here though, I've had the same caliber at another... We have dined in Olde Yorke a couple of times and we always order the fish and chips. It is a Mum & Pop Fish and Chips restaurant with great food and service. There is plenty of sitting too. The last time we went, we ordered the fisherman's platter for sharing, calamari and salad and clam chowder. We also ordered... More

What's not to love? Fish and chips are great, but so is everything on the menu. Even the mushy peas lol. This isn't fine dining, but that's not what you're going for. Great place for family and friends.

Staying in East York

Neighbourhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
