I was invited for lunch by a friend that I used to work with years ago. He is one of the nicest guys I've met and very generous. He suggested we go to Olde Yorke for fish and chips. I had heard about this place...but have never been. We had their Halibut & Chips, with a side of Mushy Peas, a British tradition. The fish was perfectly cooked and was delicious! The Mushy Peas were also quite good. This was a good meal! Dessert was a deep fried Mars bar with ice cream. Yummy! This family owned restaurant is located in the Leaside neighbourhood, near Bayview and Eglinton. The decor is a reflection of a British Pub, with the owners having roots in England, going back generations. It works! If you like Fish & Chips, check out this place! Thank you for lunch, Tony!More

After the experience from Rachel the manager I had, I WILL NEVER RETURN. I am Guyanese, indo carribbean, brown skinned lady. I sat at the bar friendly conversation with the person next to me, I said I have not taken the ttc for a long...time as it's so dangerous!! Rachel the manager asked "Why are you MUSLIM"? I was stunned 😲. I said I dont go because of all the random attacks on the ttc. Don't support her or this business as it is apparent by her question to me (the way I was dressed was in jeans and a t shirt, yattoo on my arm), no head covering or anything to suggest that, only that I am brown and not white skinned. So sad in 2024 that this is still a thing. There are many other great fish and chip establishments that you can go to and spend your hard earned money on. Small minded uneducated owner of this establishment. There were so many other brown skinned people there I hope you read this review and go elsewhere in the future.More

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. The service was both friendly and prompt. I ordered the haddock and chips and a slice of key lime pie to go. The haddock was delicious. It was a nice, large, and meaty piece with just enough batter to give...it both a little flavor and crunch. The fries were terrific as well and were fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The coleslaw was good, but I'm not sure it necessarily added much to the meal. The key lime pie was decent: I lived the custard-like texture, but I'm a bit picky and prefer my key lime pie to be more tart than sweet. Still, an excellent, piping hot meal with attentive service.More

Best fish and chips in Toronto! We won't eat fish and chips anywhere else. Yes, some times there is a line and you have to wait for a table, BUT that is a testament to how good the good is. People will line up and...wait for this food! Yes, the prices have gone up, what hasn't? We love this place!More

Three of us had different fish and chips. Fishes were good but the fries were hard, dry and mealy. Not good. They were not fresh cut. Disappointing. Service was very good.

The pandemic kept us out of the Olde Yorke for three years, but today I went there with two friends and had an excellent meal. It ix great at what it does. The halibut with chips is just fine.

We were a group of 4, no reservations and we were seated promptly. Terrific service, prices are on par with other establishments, and the food was absolutely great. We all had Haddock and Chips and I had one of the beer specials. The fish was...plentiful, cooked perfectly and the batter was thin and crisp. Waitress was friendly, very efficient and knowledgeable. Two of us had the apple crisp, and the other two had the sherry trifle for desert - all delicious. The decor inside is very warm and comfortable, much like you would find in an English pub. There is a ramp at the back entrance for anyone who requires that. We all gave it 5 stars and will definitely be back, as there are many items on the menu that we're tempted to try.More

Last evening (July 30) three of us visited the Olde Yorke for the first time since COVID19. We had forgotten how outstanding this hidden gem in Leaside is. Maitre d' showed us to a patio table immediately (at 6 pm! we were lucky no wait...likely bc its a long weekend). We started with cold pints and calamari cooked to perfection and sizzling off the grill. Our three order of halibut and chips were hot, crispy (no detectable grease) and toothsome. The fish was soft and succulent with batter that complemented it. Tartar sauce on the side. Service was impeccable: prompt and pleasant. No room left to try dessert but maybe next time. We'll be back for the best fish 'n chips in Toronto. J. LermanMore

We enjoyed the fish calamari and clams with family. Service was fast, servings were generous and food was excellent. The breading was not overpowering or too thick and the sauces complemented the food. Worth several visits 👍🏼

I read recently that British Fish and Chips shops have had a 70% increase in their cost for halibut. The article continued to say that many F&C shops in Great Britanin have been forced to close because customers refuse to pay the increased cost. Olde...Yorke will face the same fate as the prices are far greater than the value of the food. If you can't give the customer a quality product at a reasonable price, it is not the customer's fault.More

No reservations. 2 hours from joining the line up to receiving food. Reduced option menu. No Kilkenny beer. 2 of the orders sent to the table wrong. What a waste of an evening !! I am now stopping going to any restaurant that doesn’t take...reservations!! It’s one of the BIG downsides of Toronto !! Line-up and wait ….. brunches & casual dining impossible in this city !!More

Went into the olde yorke fish and chips two weeks before Good Friday to ask when we should make a order for take out for Good Friday, we asked to speak to a manager to make sure we knew the process. The manager said we...needed to physically come into the store exactly a week before Good a Friday, so a week before Good Friday we went in, we were then told it was too early to come back the next day (Saturday) so we did, they said to come back Monday, we came back Monday night to be told we had to call in on Tuesday, we were not given a time on Tuesday to call in so I called at 1145 on my lunch break. We were told it was all sold out for Friday. I asked to speak to a manager, they said they’ll call us back. 6 hours later we still didn’t hear anything so I called again and waited to speak to a manager, they said we should get a call from the owner, we never received a call. I know it’s a small business, we love the food it’s why we wanted to order but this was a lot of work to eventually be told too bad you called in too late, but we went in two weeks before Good Friday to ask for the process of ordering for Good Friday and was given wrong information, we did receive an apologize but after I told them I needed to escalate the situation, not before hand.More
