This place is pretty good for a city like Toronto which isn't a coastal area so fish would need to be flown or shipped in. It strives to be an english pub/chip shop but it really doesn't have the pub atmosphere so mainly it is a chip shop. The servers aren't particularly personable or charming so it doesn't really have that... Been here several times. The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked. Chips are great. Always lively. If you love fish and chips, go here.

If it's fish and chips you're looking for - can't go wrong with this place! The fish was flaky and the batter was so perfectly crisp! We tried both haddock and halibut and they were amazing. The fries lacked salt but with vinegar and all they were fine!

Everything was excellent but the fish could have been a little bigger. Chicken fingers were tender and crispy. The fresh cut fries were delicious, Service was Great. We had the Deep fried Mars bar with ice cream for desert. It was fun and surprisingly good.

The daily line at olde yorke speaks to the quality food that this Leaside establishment has been serving for nearly 20 years. Well worth the wait.

Went there today for the first time with the wife. They were filled to the rim on good friday and well worth the wait. They had a hearty clam chowder with plenty of clams in the soup. The fish was perfectly battered and moist. The fries / chips were okay

Olde Yorke is a 'must-try' for Fish & Chips lovers, and it has been consistently delicious throughout the years. For me, they are the "best" Fish&Chips restaurant in Toronto. Atmosphere: They have an expanded 'express' section now, but the main restaurant remains an old-fashioned, cozy pub decor. Seating isn't very abundant and there's a good chance you'll need to wait... Long wait to eat, meal didn't disappoint, big portions and best fish we've had since moving from UK. Batter light and crisp. Service however let the experience down...waitress obviously tired and we seemed a chore...poured water in to my kids pop glasses instead of bring clean. No attention provided to anyone in her section! May go back again, meal was... More

Picked up the Halibut and Chips with a small coleslaw and small mushy peas. The halibut was fantastic - not too greasy and very meaty with a light batter. If you like the thick batter and not too much fish then this is not for you. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wasn't a huge fan... More

This is a cozy (i.e. small) spot however they have really good fish and chips. I enjoyed the cod as well as the fries. It is a large portion and unfortunately i didnt have room to try desert but it looked delicious. I would definitely return and or recommend this spot.

Staying in East York

Neighbourhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
