We enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the "patio" here during the World Cup of Hockey and were oh so impressed. They have a really good wine list and some interesting signature bar drinks as well. The appetizers are creative and tasty. I had a burger and it was just what the doctor ordered! A great dining option if you are... More

I visited last week with my sister during the busy Christmas market. They squeezed us right in and the service was fast and attentive. We ordered the clam chowder and a large fish and chips and the shishito peppers, plus a few drinks. The food was delicious and was fairly reasonable ($50 US for 2 ppl with tip/tax). The ambiance... Always happy with our visits to Pure Spirits, Showed up with no reservation and they managed to squeeze 6 of us in. The service was great. Oysters outstanding and their Fish and Chips perfect for a cold afternoon. Fun and welcoming atmosphere.

We stopped in for lunch during the christmas market. Totally by chance but definitely the right choice! We both got the fish and chips, it was awesome. My boyfriend is from the east coast, so he loves to try seafood and fish anywhere we go. The flavour was great and fresh. Seriously, the order was so fast we had it... More

Oysters are the real attraction but the mains are good too. We've tried other Distillery spots (we often have theatre tickets for nearby) but keep coming back here.

I love this place, If I am in the Toronto Area I try to see if I am lucky enough to get in to eat. I have never been disappointed, the food is always served as it was meant to be. The Calamari with the tempura is the best I have had, large and perfectly fried tempura. The Oysters are... More

Popped in for lunch. Love it when the staff welcomes you with a smile and a verbal welcome! Great seating, and prompt service and attentive service! Food was delicious. Pumpkin soup was yummy and more that I could consume! My guest had the chicken chopped salad. Devoured it! Will return.

So the food is amazing, the drinks are great and the service first class. My complaint is purely visual and I have a photo attached to show what I mean. The Gnocci came in a dish that resembled a catering/take-out container...Not that it took away from the quality, but the 'eye eats first'.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
