The curry is more directed towards non-Indians I believe but the flavours are amazing. The green curry is the best and they give you option of how spicy you want it (indicated by chili) And even just 7 chilies it gets very spicy. Just that the line up can be really long and a bit crowded inside. The servers are... More

salad king is so yummy - thai food on the cheap and better than you can do at home. go for the curry, go for the new digs with the stainless steel group tables, go for the endurance test of your food consumption....bet you can't eat just one (dish)

food is okay but the service i find always wired. I always order "ISLAMIC NOODLES" which is not in their menu but u still can order that. Over all its a okay restaurant to me. Its always busy because its just beside the university and food is really affordable for the students.

Salad King was a favourite place when I was living in Toronto and now that I'm not it is what I miss the most :( Nothing bad on the menu. Penang curry is great. Bangkok noodles, siam noodles, pad thai - all great! excellent for the price you pay as well. If you like spicy food Salad King has like... More

It was over 5 years ago I visited Salad King in downtown Toronto. They moved but still on Yonge street, not far from their original location. We were there at around 6pm on a Saturday, and there was already a line up. The host, Carly (spell ?) greeted us and assured that because we have a young kid, she'll try... More

I've been to Salad King a few times and love the food! The chicken pad Thai is the best I've ever had and the won ton soup is also delicious! The service needs work however. I asked one of the servers setting a table near by for a napkin and she responded by pointing to our server who was with... More

Salad King used to be just a 2 minute walk from my office. They moved, and I now longer work in the area, but since I was in the neighbourhood, I thought I'd try them again. My last visit was just over a year ago, and I was disappointed. Again the restaurant was so crowded that we had to get... More

Not the most authentic Thai food I've ever had, but the service was really fast, the food was cheap and tasted great! Would absolutely go back and 100% recommend if you're downtown.

Thank Anna S

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
