Haven't been to Steak Pit in years and was excited to go back. Walked in and nothing had changed (decor) in many many years, which in some ways was comforting. The food on the other hand had changed ALOT. Other than the relish tray and fairly good garlic bread, nothing else was good. Two of us had the ribs (they're... More

Read the reviews and wanted to give this place a try. Expensive for what you get. The ribs were dry, tough and tasteless. We ordered the ribs plain with the sauce on the side. Sauce tasted like tomato puree from a can. Don't waste your one

Going there for years. The garlic bread is to die for. Salad included as well with the meal accompanied by veggie tray. Ribs are plain or Mexican. Mexican has just the right amount of taste.. The best.. Also comes with choice of side. Steaks and burgers are good as well. Ribs are a bit pricey but worth it for the... More

I have grown up going to the Steak Pit. My grandfather has been going since it opened (in 1948). Not much has changed since the 40s, but that is part of the charm. You are not going for atmosphere, you are going for the world's best garlic bread (which is complimentary with dinner) and amazing steak. My filet mignon has... More

This spot looks very unassuming. A friend took me here claiming it was exceptional... it was. Top notch service. I ordered the surf n turf (like always), but had I knows how DELICIOUS the lobster tail was going to be, I would have ordered two of those! Yum Yum Yum.

The steak pit is a must-visit! It doesn't pretend to be something its not, and makes no apologies for what it is...a timeless restaurant serving up a decent steak dinner, complete with a deliciously old-fashioned pickle tray starter and traditional garlic bread! I recommend skipping the ribs or the steak and ribs combo and instead go for one of the... More

We recently visited the Steak Pit on Avenue Road. A small family owned business which has changed very little since opening in 1966. The background music consisted of R&B songs from the 50s and 60s. We drank Woodbridge Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2014 by Robert Mondavi. We ate celery tray, garlic bread and pit salad. We enjoyed Steak and Ribs -... More

The steak pit has been a regular haunt for area people for 67 years. This was my families first experience there. I REALLY wanted to love the place. It certainly looks its age but I wasn't gonna hold that against the place. There certainly were some very interesting wall ornaments and overall the place gives off a late 70s vibe.... More

This is not a trendy restaurant with cool decor and a place to be seen. What it is is a classic Toronto establishment that is well loved by the families that have frequented it for years. The servers have been there forever and always treat you like family. All meals come with a relish plate (a lost art - truly),... More

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
