This vegetarian and vegan place always has good, clean South Indian food. The dosas (large crepes not made with wheat) are always crisp and tasty. The thali plates include rice, 2 veg curries, many sauces, yogurt and dessert along with bread options.

At the recommendation of my cousin, we planned part of our Saturday in Little India-Toronto.
Once we found the area and then a parking space, deciding where to eat came next.
Udupi Palace was chosen. The restaurant was several stairs below street level. The restaurant is very spacious and seating for about 30-40 customers.
The veggan restaurant has a large menu and it was difficult to chose an item.
see photos below
The food was good, service ok.
Might go back again.
Bad:
The ladies was stunk, it smelled so bad in there. Had I used it, before ordering my food, I would not have STAYED.

Enjoyed eating the variety of authentic dosas here. The mango lassi was fantastic too, The seating is simple, more like a tea shop in India, but the dosa experience is great.

The restaurant has moved to a new location just a little west down the street on Gerrard . It’s more compact and cozier. The food is as delicious as ever, delectable dosas, delicious snacks and a good selection of North Indian dishes…. All vegetarian and lots of vegan options .
We have been coming to Udipi since 2003 and have never been disappointed either with the food or service . Hubert (owner) and his team,( Alwyn, Manish and others) always have a smile on their face and are welcoming.
We had our usual, chaat papri, Ghee Masala Dosa, Ghee Paper Masala Dosa and a Neembu Soda …. All perfectly prepared and scrumptious.

Udupi palace has become my go-to for comfort food in this city. I have eaten here countless times and finally decided I should give a review after ordering takeout when I got sick with COVID. I was very congested and I did not want to eat anything but as soon as my delivery came, the familiar tastes and warm spices got my appetite up. I highly recommend Udupi for when you're sick with COVID or something similar. I felt a lot better after and the food helped my congestion soooo much. Udupi is comfort not just when you're sick but for any time. When I've had a hard week, I get Udupi, when I have friends in town, I take them to Udupi. It is always a big hit. The staff are also so friendly and warm. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The NEW address is 1423 Gerrard St. They moved last December from 1460 Gerrard St. Nobody seems to mentioned this and all OLD REVIEWS SHOULD BE REMOVED From this site! Some of them don’t give justice to the present quality of food and service!
We looked for the previous restaurant on the location (Regency) to find to our surprise the new UDUPI PALACE! “BRAVO”! A nice renovation (just the staircase carpet they “forgot to change”). We celebrated a birthday and enjoyed EXCELLENT FOOD and great service from the woman server! All people working there were very friendly, specially Hubert / Umberto. Seems to be a family business!
We will be back all the way “from the Westend”…. thank you! CONGRATULATIONS!

What a great little vegetarian spot. The paper thin dosas are very large and the chana has great flavor. Welcoming staff as well.

I can't believe this place has such good reviews. We were a party of 5 & ordered 4 different dishes. The Puri's used in chat were soft, stale & poor quantity. We waited for 1 hr for the pav bhaji & were only brought our meal after complaining. After taking 1 bite, we realised that something in the bhaji had gone bad. Of course we brought it to their attention & they were apologetic but the damage was done. Very very dissatisfied and disappointed.

The above title tells it all. We had dahi puri and pani puri. Both were excellent. The waiter was very polite and the pricing most appropriate. Highly recommended.

The paper masala dosa was quite the size and very enjoyable. The coconut chutney was very flavourful but not enough.
I found the thali to be less quantity of vegetables and more “masala”.
The service needs to improve.
There is no service except to take the order and deliver it.
When asked about their specialities...I was told all is good!

Watered down chutney and tasteless dosas. Kind of sums up what I feel about Udupi Palace, which came highly recommended as “The place for dosa’s” only to disappoint on that very score.

If you are a vegan who loves Indian food, you must make a pilgrimage to this place. The food here is, simply put, awesome. Inside is huge and clean, and a bit frenetic, at times. But man, once you order, the food comes out quickly. There are too many options to mention. You can always have the thali (minus raita for the vegans), if you are not sure what to order. Delicious and cheap. A bit of this; and a bit of that. Flaky basmati rice and poori. Our favourites start with the Masala Dosa. The crepe is so fresh and supple, and the curried potatoes embedded within, sublime. The coconut chutney is not my favourite, but the sambar (lentil soup) is beyond words. A chuck of the dosa, pinched with the potatoes, dipped in the sambar, is one of the best combinations ever! All those years we suffered living on Vancouver Island where not a single dosa could be found, not a one! The onion pakoras and samosas are good starters, especially the pakoras. I like the onion bhaji, too. The poori bhaji, channa masala, yellow dhal, allo gobi and allo mutter, are all excellent. We always order extra poori to sop up all the goodness. I am getting hungry just writing this review! It is all so delicious. Staff are efficient and friendly. These are western prices, but it is all still very reasonably priced. Eat, savour the deliciousness, then wonder Little India - it is a perfect way to spend an evening. For non-vegans, try this place out and try to say that vegan/vegetarian cuisine is not innovative and mouth-watering.

I've eaten veg thalis all over south India. Some are excellent. Some are not. The thali at Udupi Palace falls under the 'are not' category. Many of the individual dishes tasted the same. There were no fresh ingredients like; fresh green chilies, no onion, no chutney or pickle. None of the bright flavors I've come to expect in a good thali. The chapati was not freshly made. The rice was luke warm. The whole thing lacked inspiration. No pride in the thali they serve.
