We were walking around the neighbourhood, undecided about what we wanted for dinner. When we saw this place, it looked inviting so we decided to give it a try. What a pleasant discovery! The interior is dated, but quaint and clean. The menu is your typical deli fare. My friend had the turkey dinner special with vegetable noodle soup, mashed... More

Have been disappointed by many other well known delis in the city. Yitz's delivered. Food was large in portion and great in taste. The coleslaw was the best I've ever had and the deli meats were delicious. Only downside was the massive lemon meringue pie. I thought it lacked flavor but it was still good.

From outside, Yitz's seems like mix of a delicacy shop and a bakery, but it turns out, that on top of that, they also make a living as a restaurant. Immediately when you walk in, you feel the schizophrenia unravel. You walk through the bakery, and into a place looking like a diner, without that authentic American feel of a... More

For old style home cooking comfort foods, there is by any measurement that I can think of, no finer deli in Toronto. The multitude of menu choices, the excellent food quality whether eaten in, taken out or catered simply can't be beat. From the gefilte fish to the roast brisket, from the kishka to the roast chicken, and even the... More

Harder to find a great Jewish deli in Toronto but this one is still pretty good. Not someplace where I would eat on weekly basis as my arteries could not take it however for a corned beef craving it's the place to go.

I was disappointed last night when I went to Yitz's for dinner again. Needed a corned beef fix so took myself in for a sandwich. I was so disappointed. They must be using different bread these days as it was dry and tasteless. The corned beef was all crumbly and was certainly not the excellent meat that I had on... More

Prepare to meet thy maker, after gorging on the most delicious jewish deli-style sandwiches and other things mother used to make. Corned beef to die for. I can feel my arteries blocking me as I speak. Not to be missed, the restaurant is a wonderful throwback to the 70's. Enjoy a Cuban cigar for dessert - they're in the refrigerated... More

Visit delis often in Toronto. Yitz's is way down the list. On a recent visit- deli meats were dry, not very flavourful and barely warm. Latkes were burnt on the edge, not very tasty. Chicken soup had a "medicinal" taste. Cole slaw lacked flavour. I suggest you go elsewhere. We will not be back.

I have been eating at Yitz on and off for many years now (in fact since Shopsey's closed down on Spadina). Went there this evening with my grandson. He loves their latkas and I was craving a corned beef sandwich. The latka was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and tasted great. The corned beef sandwich was... More

Ate here with my stepdaughter in January 2013. Mind you, perhaps the reason I was so excited about the place was that I had read about the establishment in a book about delis and I live in Pakistan, where we don't have this kind of stuff. Anyway, we very much enjoyed our meals- Montreal smoked meat sandwich, cole slaw, and... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
