Have been going here for years and it was always delicious was disappointed today when I was intending to grab lunch they are closed. Hopefully they are doing renovation and will re-open but there is no sign to state what is going on. It's a shame they are closed as it's a neighborhood gem.

I was disappointed with my first visit at the store due to the food. The fish was under season and greasy. The fries were not crispsy.

This is a great little spot for some excellent fish n' chips. I had the cod (one piece is massive) and fresh chips. The chips were a bit soggy but still delicious. Definitely ask for the tartar sauce. It adds a lot to your meal.

Great, fast, old-style fish&chips! Ask for the tartar sauce because its great and he won't give it to you unless you specifically ask for it. The place could use a renovation.

I eat here about once a month. It is far, far superior to some of the other remaining old-style fish'n'chips places because they serve only large fresh pieces of fish and fresh fries. The price reflects the quality. I always eat in, because there's nothing like both fish and chips straight from the deep fryer -- never soggy, which is... More

The fish and chips is great - though the owner a tad dogmatic in a good 'soup Nazi' kind of way. Excellent chips - great chowder - excellent value.

Reliable Fish & Chips has apparently been in my neighbourhood for 80 years. I know that authentic, genuine and good are synonyms of reliable, but somehow, at least for me, reliable doesn't work quite the same as the other three when it comes to places to eat. I'd always walked carefully past the place until someone recommended it to me... More

I stopped by Reliable for the very first time over the week-end while returning from a delightful morning of bird-watching. I had heard good things about the fish & chips, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the food exceeded my expectations. The haddock & chips, at $8.95 for one piece of fish and just the right amount of fries,... More

We have ordered take-out from Reliable for nearly 2 decades, going back to the original owner. The food here is good and we still return. It would be nice to see a couple more items on the menu, I dunno, crab cakes or somesuch. Maybe freshly squeezed OJ would be good addition as well? I am done. The end.

This is really a take out restaurant with very little seating. They serve their food hot and fresh. The batter is light and crisp and really, it is almost a perfect dish for those seeking fish and chips the way it should be done. I just wish the place had some more seating.

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
