The place had a face lift but definitely lacks customer appreciation but above all customer service. Entered the restaurant a little after 15:00 o’clock. There is a sign that says “please wait to be seated” and so I did. A young male employee (not sure...what position) passed by twice without greeting or even acknowledging me. The cooks cutting the gyros were just looking around - we came eye to eye - still no acknowledgement or greeting. After a few minutes a young lady that was waiting in the cashier area approached me and asked how she could assist. I said a table for one…. she said I could sit anywhere …. why the sign I was wondering…. I sat down at a table near the window…. the young man that had passed by me twice earlier without greeting and acknowledging me came to my table to take my order… I said I would like to have a beef and lamb mix Gyro…. He he would have to go and check if that is still available since they only serve it until 15:00 o’clock. To my surprise I saw the beef and lamb mix Gyro on the evening menu as well. I was confused and when he came back I said thank you I am going somewhere else.More

So disappointed! Just got home from eating at Messini and the food sucks!!! It used to be great but they have changed their recipe. The pork and chicken gyro did not have any authentic Greek flavours and was absolutely horrible! Their Greek fries were not...made with fresh potatoes and too much onion in the salad. Not worth spending your cash here.More

We go out with friends once a month to restaurants around the city. We look forward to our night out with friends. This time it was our friends time to choose the restaurant. Her and her partner have been to Messini many times before the...pandemic and loved the food every time. So us all being lamb loves ordered the lamb and beef dinner and wraps. What a disappointment! The meat was mostly fat and gristle. I tried to eat my dinner not to disappoint my friend but it got to the point I just couldn’t. I then decided because my meal was $25 I would try to eat the potatoes but truthfully they were swimming in oil. I gave up. I am very puzzled on why this place is so busy. Maybe the chicken is good and what most people order? The one good thing was we decided to mention our disappointment to the manager and he only charged us for what we ate. The Greek salad was actually good though we only got 2 olives in each salad which I thought was strange. Sadly all in all we will not be returning to this restaurant. I feel so bad for my friend that took us there.More

We went Sunday for lunch because we like the restaurant and the greek food they use to have... They did not have beef or Lamb. We ordered a chicken plate as we do not eat pork. It was a deception! Few pieces of chicken and...a lot of onions in the top and only potatoes in the bottom of the plate...! So...we will not come againMore

We just went here on a Saturday night. The line to be seated was long but half the restaurant was empty. It wasn't moving so we decided on takeout instead. We ordered 2 gyro wraps, fries, salad. Both of our wraps were full of chewy,...fatty, sinewy meat. We are not picky people and understand sometimes you get a piece from the end of the cut of meat or whatever but we both ended up eating a veggie wrap as we had to take the meat out due to not being able to chew through it. The salad was also unfortunate and flavorless.More

Definitely not as good as it use to be. I had the chicken on a pita w/feta for take out. It was dry and tasteless.I paid $2.50 extra for the feta and honestly I got a few crumbs of feta. This place use to have...line ups to eat. I’m not going back and would advise anyone reading this to do the same. What a shame.More

This was our second time to this restaurant and I had the worse experience of all. The food was cold and awful. We ordered the chicken gyros and no meat was in there and the ones in there were full of fat. My husband ordered...the plate of meat which was cold and meat were big chunks of fat. Fries were cold and Greek fries was supposed to have olive oil bu no oil and so dry.More

I came here to meet a friend for a Saturday lunch. It was sort of busy when I came in. There were only two servers working the restaurant, which I think was a mistake on their part as it got busy soon after. When I...came in I was asked for my vaccine proof & id contact tracing. I got a table for two. I was promptly given water after I was seated & then I ordered a calamari appetizer since I was quite hungry. My friend arrived & we made our main meal orders. Then the appetizer came. It was quite big for an appetizer! There were at least 13 good sized pieces of calamari with a side salad. If I had known it would've been that big I wouldn't have ordered a main meal. I had ordered the beef & lamb pita too. I ate what I could of the calamari & my friend had some of the salad. By this time my pita had arrived. But they got my order wrong. I had asked for no tzatiki (I'm lactose intolerant). So I had to ask them to make me another one unfortunately. My correct order came & I started eating it. It was delicious. However the slices of meat were really cut big & hard to chew through. The french fries inside the pita were good. This meal though I'd say is meant to be eaten with knife & fork. It's too messy to eat it by hand. The pita is on the bottom & everything else is on the top. They roll the pita a little but since it's not that big you have a big gap in the middle where the food falls out. The place itself it somewhat small. The walls are painted yellow & the furniture is wood. They have booths at the back of the restaurant. Tables for everywhere else. There are two small tables at the front by the windows. The kitchen is at the front where everyone can see the food being prepared. The washrooms are downstairs & they were clean. However the sink has some rust stains. The bathrooms could use a renovation. They were keeping some of the dining space closed I think due to covid. But the lineups at the front soon grew long. With only two servers they were constantly busy. The food was going out of the kitchen quickly & that's good. But they should've had someone at the front of the house checking id, & seating people. Don't make the servers do that if you're short staffed. Poor guys were doing the best they could. The prices here are good for the proportions they give you. I think I would rather come though when they are less busy. The food was good & the service was good too. I would come here again. It might be nice in the summertime if they had an outdoor patio. They do have some sidewalk space in front of the restaurant.More

Placed an order for pickup of four different gyros. None of the gyros were labeled and we could not tell what was what. This was extremely frustrating as my party had different dietary restrictions. Some people could not even eat their gyro and money was...wasted. We also asked to eat in and they denied us without any reason for why. The hostess was very rude about it. I will not be placing any orders here again.More

Checked other ratings and chose Messinis regardless of the few poor ratings. Had driven to Greektown from the other side of the city. My daughter loves Gyros. Friendly service during this pandemic...but the Gyros were terrible. Couldn't eat mine. You can almost tell that things...aren't right when you look at the spits of meat. Definitely not properly prepared...almost a last minute throw together. I've eaten gyros all over the place and these were bad. Just like all the other reviews..chewy...non marinated..light on the filling..nice tzaziki though. Brought the Gyros home and sliced the meat up and cooked it in a frypan... meat was at least now cooked properly but still tasteless.....Sorry Guys but you better get your act together....Wont be back....More

After eating two pita gyros last night, we had to add to the excellent reviews! It is so hard to find authentic Greek restaurants outside of Greece. SO hard. So when we heard of this place and saw the other reviews, and saw that it...was in Greektown on Danforth, we had to give it a shot. And we were NOT disappointed. We were sat immediately. It was a busy Saturday night. But we got lucky. The menu is simple but that’s what makes it closer to authentic. We got our water and soda quickly, and saw lots of families and couples and friends sitting and having a good time. We ordered two pita gyros with pork just like we would order back in Pagrati, and they were wonderful. Juicy meat, tasty tzaziki, fresh pita and hot fries. We will definitely go there again before we leave!!!! Five stars for as close to real Greek as you can get outside of Greece!More

We tryed the restaurant for the first time. The food was good, the prices were very reasonable and the portions were huge. The waiter switched one of the dishes but as soon as I complained he changed it to the right one. I'll definitely return

Came here with my daughter who had been looking to recreate her Santorini experience with gyros that come with French fries in the sandwich. I was told Messini does them that way, and have the best gyros in Toronto. Our experience was the opposite. The...meat (lamb/beef mix) was awful - tough and stringy (the kind that gets stuck in your teeth). The service was terrible - water didn’t come until the end, they served our fries to table next to us who ate some before our server said they were our’s and handed the plate to us (!!), we asked for our appetizers and mains to come at same time but waitress said it will be whatever the kitchen does, etc. On top of this there were fruit flies all over our table. Never again...More

Hello. The restaurant does not take reservations. However, the food and prices is worth the wait. Cheers.
