I was so happy to see Sunset Grill had survived but my joy was short lived. I ordered Eggs Benedict with homes fries. The Hollandaise sauce was truly disgusting. I think it was made from a powder. The home fries we both ordered were pasty...white. My friend had ordered bacon. I don’t know how they did it, but the three pieces, which were stuck together, were overdone in the middle and undercooked on the ends. The service was very slow and inattentive, although the place wasn’t busy. All in all, it was a big disappointment. We’ll never go back. Ever.More

I love the staff, service and food quality at this location. Been sadly disappointed at others with rigid rules around food substitutions for those of us with allergies. A shout out to Evie Barb Maria Guru and Runyon. I'd come everyday if I could afford...it, LOL.More

Giving this Toronto institution the benefit of a doubt. Waitress was not too interested in me; perhaps that was due to the fact that I did not order a full breakfast. Or that I was not a regular. And to me, not refilling a coffee...cup at a diner... That is a red flag. The food however is good comfort food and well done. Would be willing to try this place One Last Time, hoping it would not be the last time.More

My friend and I went to this restaurant based on a recommendation by my Airbnb host. It was very noisy due to the people who come around 11am, 12pm which is totally fine. We took pancakes, waffles, eggs, and potatoes. It was very delicious!! But...seeing the waitress, and the cooker touched the pancakes with their hands is not very clean! (It wasn’t our meal) They clean the tables, touch, and hold everything and after they touch the food without washing their hands !! What do they need to touch them though?? Very Weird and disgusting.. it was my first and my last time.. Except that it was very good!More

Very friendly staff and great food. It's our regular place to go if we go for breakfast. Also free parking at the Shopper's next door.

I can not believe I had no idea there was a Sunset Grill so close to the Beaches but on the Danforth. There is a paid parking lot close by which makes for my easier visiting by car. The locations look very similar and that...grand slam breakfast was fantastic. Despite my friend's horror and me ordering bacon so crispy it is close to burned, they did so anyway and it was perfection. My eggs were over well, the sausage was great and because it was pancake Tuesday they were only $1 each and money with to the Canada Cancer Society. Our server was fantastic too, super friendly and helpful. I am so happy to have discovered this location (which she said was one of the original Sunset Grills) without having to go all the way to the Beaches. Great decaf coffee, fantastic breakfast platter and excellent service. I will be back!More

Yes its busy especially in mornings because people see it as a go to place for an affordable bacon and eggs breakfast which is the core speciality. No why is closes in the afternoon is curious. Not the place for your ALL DAY breakfast. But...solid food and service and yes popular in the neighborhood.More

Diners are seen as downscale but there's a lot upscale about them. Usually, most of the food is cooked fresh from scratch, which can't be said for many restaurants, which rely heavily on monopoly foreign-owned distributors, and don;t buy their supplies from local businesses. The...staff, as here, are friendly and perky. And some of the old standbys are pretty high quality. Case in point: scrambled eggs and rye toast with home fries for under $6.00. The home fries were potatoes this morning -- no pre-fab, as is increasingly common. Scrambled eggs tasty. Rye toast is a standard offering, and it comes dark, a sign of old German style, though it's unlikely it's baked the way it is in Germany -- slowly so the bread browns during the baking process, rather than, as in North America, where the darkness comes from adding coffee or molasses. Note that real dark rye has more nutrients, especially fiber, than wheat toast.- -- which is good news for dieters and people worried about diabetes. Coffee could go up a notch, as is usually the case with diners, and is the case here. Refill the cup less often, and be more generous with quality, rather than quantity. Let's continue to support our local diners.More

A fun little place that is particularly great for breakfast. They even have an all-day breakfast menu for those of us who love breakfast just that much! Not high dining, but a quick little place to grab a bite and catch up with a friend.

A reasonable place. Nothing special. Homely and prices adequate. No big regrets. Worth dropping by for breakfast and lunch especially I think.

It was very busy when my boyfriend and I went, we waited about 10 minutes and got say at a table that was being bussed while we were walking there, very tight space, my boyfriends chair had water on it so when he sat down...he got angry, I thought oh dear, what am I getting myself into. But things got better from there, we had an amazing server named Karyn and she was very knowledgable and helpful, my boyfriend showed her a picture on his phone of what he wanted and she knew exactly what it was, it was called the half and half I think, and she also told us about the other locations closer to us (I'm from Niagara Falls) the food was good, and there was large portions! Definitely will be back because of Karyn!More

I've been coming here for years and the food and service is always great and at a great price. The staff barely turns over so it must be a good place to work, you can sense it in the service and familiarity. They have a...few locations around town but I've always been a fan of the Danforth location.More
