A rather depressing place. Very tired decor - food very average. Staff not happy! Needs fresh energy to up their game.

I found this restaurant using tripadvisor. The food did not disappoint, the service did. It’s not that the server was rude, she did not interact with us at all. No smiles, all business like. The portions were moderate, not great but not bad either. The...restaurant is extremely tiny, only 5 tables, old wooden tables, not overly comfortable or clean looking. Investing in new furniture to compliment the small space would be wise on the restaurant’s part. If we ate here again it would be take out.More

This place is a little Gem! It's small, 17 seats. They do a brisk take-out business too. Everything was wonderful - super fresh, and beautifully presented. I've been here 4 times this month! A+++++

I was absolutely delighted with Japango! The hotel staff said it's the best, and they were so Right! It's a very small place (18 seats). They do a brisk take-out business, as I watched a continual stream of drivers coming to receive their parcels. The...service was prompt, very kind, and the restaurant is very clean. Even though it is small, it feels spacious, as they have obviously carefully considered patron comfort, in designing their space. The Food - it was Perfect! I ordered the #6 sashimi dinner. It came with a fresh ginger salad, miso soup and tea. The sashimi was presented on a bed of sushi rice, decorated with microgreens, diakon, mango and a fresh lime wedge. The fish was generous and delicious. I highly recommend!!More

We chose this place to have sushi when in Toronto as it’s been a while since we had a good one. This place was not too far from where we were staying and decided to give it a try. The place is really tiny, there...are about 10 tables(or even less), so it gets full very quickly. The tables are really close to each other, so if you are looking for privacy this is not the place. Excellent quality Fresh fish. Sashimi plates where a good size for the price and really enjoyed our meal. Definitely will be back again and again.

Had a good experience and really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Food is probably average - tried a few starters and rolls. Service was great despite being very busy. Prices are average as well so definitely worth a try.

Excent service and extremely fresh and tasty food! We were visiting Toronto and went there 5 time is two weeks and each time was exceptional. Couldn't recommend Japango highly enough!

This is a hidden gem. The food is very good, they have lunch specials, good and fresh fish. It is obvious that the Chef knows what she is doing. I had the sushi bento box and it was great. Definitely a repeat.

Came to Japango with my boyfriend who was visiting from out of town after my friend recommended it to me! I could barely find it and thought my google maps had led me wrong but I could not have been more than happy once I...did find it! The restaurant is very small and seating is quite cozy! To start, we ordered the salmon an avocado tartare. I cannot describe how incredible this dish was! This was the freshest fish I have ever tasted and the avocado was unlike anything I had ever had. The flavour of this dish was incredible and even though a little pricey, it was worth every single penny. We ordered multiple rolls which were all incredible however the Japango roll was a showstopper - you must order this roll! You will have no regrets going here - literally the best sushi I have ever had and the servers and staff were incredibly kind! 11/10 would recommend!More

Food was excellent! Service was very good. This restaurant is a small place, but we arrived before 6pm and got a table by the window. We had chicken teriyaki and a chirashi supreme that had good fish selection and was very fresh. This is perhaps one of the most under-rated Japanese restos in Toronto and a neighbourhood favourite. If you are a sushi and sashimi connoisseur, this is the place to be. The fish is fresh, fresh and fresh. I love the sashimi bento box lunch, and...it is also great value. Be forewarned the decor is unassuming, with few tables (8-12 small tables) and no counter seating space. Think of it as if you are in Japan, especially with the Japnese staff buzzing around. The quality of the definitely worth a little wait or go earlier to beat the crowd! PS. This is also one of the best bento boxes you will find in Toronto!More

This is a small simple restaurant on Elizabeth Street, a little bit off the beaten path. It looks to me as though it does a big lunch and after work dinner trade. When I arrived around 6:30 it was full but I was able to...get a table quite quickly and by the time I left, the restaurant was half empty. This place has a very real, authentic feel. I had the sashimi dinner which was excellent and nicely presented. It came with miso and a small salad and I also had an appetizer - grilled eggplant which was good. The portions of sashimi were large and it was good quality. The price was modest. Service was excellent. I think this is a real gem but it is certainly not fancy or trendy. I had the lunch special bento box with pepper steak and it came presently well but the steak was really chewy. I couldn’t eat it. The staff, venue is great but not the steak. The miso soup was below average.
