It sometimes takes a little patience to order (because the place is very busy) but it is worth the wait. The Chicken Kabob (marinated grilled chicken) is fantastic. You wish you could bbq like this at home. Try the tea anf the dessert too. Great Afghan restaurant.

I was recently told (by an east Indian person) that the Afghans make the best kabobs! Hmmm ... I have tried east Indian, Turkish, Spanish, Greek and Portuguese ... Boy were they right! I have now tried 2 different Afghan restaurants and both of their kabobs were delicious. Never dry and full of flavour.. I would recommend for everyone to... More

Everything on the menu is very good and seasoned well. The waiting time is a bit long, but everything is made to order. Kofta Kebab Dinner is always good which is served with rice, salad, yogurt sauce and naan. I always order a side of Kabuli Rice which contains basmati rice, lamb, redolent of sweet and warming spices. Great for... More

Had eaten here at lunch with friends, thought I would pick some up on the way home for dinner. Great kebabs, huge portions, lovely rice and salad. This placed is worth the visit., It gets quite busy at lunch and for takeout. I had a number!

Been going to the Bamiyan Kabob since it opened on Overlea several years ago. The food is always good. It can be very busy and loud, but that in some ways attests to its food. As would be expected service is slower when busy. The menu has a nice variety. The rice and naan that come with dinners are awesome.... More

We got in about 30 minutes before closing with a party of over 10 and the restaurant was extremely accommodating and nice. You can't go wrong with anything you get there. The meat is well prepared and cooked and the afghani rice is delicious. I highly recommend the Sultani Kabob platter.

Staying in East York

Neighbourhood Profile
East York
East York includes a portion of old, industrial Toronto. Densely populated but incredibly safe, it boasts some of the city's earliest gardens and gardening clubs, attracting green thumbs everywhere. The tranquility of the Don Valley River area, which is rich with Toronto's oldest and tallest forests, is supplemented by the large ensemble of authentic and refurbished Edwardian homes, giving parts of East York allure. The other draw is for foodies: lovers of Bangladeshi fare will find authentic restaurants and markets in the area, with raw spices and desserts. East York also represents a lot of Toronto's Serbian food culture, and recently, has had an outcropping of solid microbrewery stops. For families, the science center is a favored weekend stop.
